The offending Times report. The ratings are more like a 5 year old's list of faves and hates than that of an objective reporter! (Sav gets 3, Dunn gets 8)

I thought Sagno for Arsenal looked very good by the way.

Correct and correct.

Mind you I've just seen the Mirror's - not guilty - and can't say I agree with them either.

Game of opinions again.

Thought Samba was MoM. Awesome.

Did you really? You're having a laff right? I thought he looked like first cousin to a skunk! You sound like you may be intending something similar next trip to the barbers. :tu:

But .... he played very well and had a good game. One to watch.

There were not 10 bookings, there were 8, possibly 9 if you count Nelsens 2nd but I doubt it was 10.

Really they need to do some basic research before they write up this crap don't they ::rolleyes:

There were nine bookings.

Rovers - Bentley, Samba, Savage, Nelsen and Nelsen.

Arsenal - Flamini, Eduardo, Clichy and van Persie.

There could have been more on both sides.

There were so many points from the game - and because of the game - that were clarified in some cases by the TV highlights.

1 - I think Sav was fouled - right on the edge - by Toure who cleverly pulled the bottom of his leg away but left the top of his left leg and his side in his path to knock him over. Sav went looking for it a bit, but I rated it a foul. So there was 'professionalism' on both sides. I don;t fault the ref for ducking that one because it was borderline.

3 - Still no idea why the Samba header/Fabregas handball and potential red card/and was it over the line anyway? moment was rated a foul by Wiley. In his defence he blew BEFORE the header, so he must have seen something. Possibly a pink elephant interfering at the near post.

1 - after seeing the replays I don't think that was a foul tbh. Toure is trying to get his foot out of the way, and you can see Savage's left foot stretching out to the left just in search for Toure's leg. Neither a foul or a dive imo.

3 - I think it should have been a penalty for the foul on Derbyshire! the arsenal player marking him had both his arms locked around him and dragged him down. The ref was looking at the two of them while it was happening and I just can't understand how he managed to give a free kick to arsenal! I bet he was afraid of getting too much stick of than nob of a arse manager.

and the comments from Arse Whinger after the game is just sickening. He should have had two men sent off, and still complains about the game when we got the only red card which, not surprisingly, shouldn't have been cos the first yellow on Nelsen was extremly harsh. <_<

It was eight yellows and one red. The second booking on Nelsen is not counted as a yellow.

There were NINE yellows [bookings] and ONE red. Nelsen was for two bookable offences.

Anyway, we're splitting hairs.

Which isn't a bookable offence before you ask.

Nonsense. There should have been less! Wiley is an over officious pratt. Some of those bookings on both sides were not to punish the offence but because he had set a foolish precedent. How can any of the other 8 cards be equal in punishment to RVP's savage and dangerous studs up block on Nelsens kicking leg? That action is completely intentional and carries a real threat of breaking someones leg?

Rem the old adage alan ......... You never notice a good referee.

You lot at the press should really be sticking into this lot that we have in charge they are rapidly worsening. I'm sick of hearing excuses for them like 'they dont have slow motion' etc. They do have receive a bloody good lump of salary now so if we cannot produce good and honest referees then why tf don't we simply import some? It is the richest league in the world isn't it?

btw..... just how did the fat git pass his physical anyway? He's such a tub of lard that I doubt he could even run for a bloody bus! <_<

Certainly not in our day alan..... but it prob wont be long now before Brown deems it taxable.

If you check the Mirror comment piece today you will see my views on the ref and the general mood of the game - and why.

But I will repeat there could have been more bookings. Fabregas went in OTT on MGP and got away with it, Flamini could have had a second and Warnock was taking a chance when he went in a bit wild on Fabregas.

There could have been less if you consider some of them harsh. Samba was unlucky, Nelsen's first was unlucky, Flamini's was a bit soft too.

So all in all the ref got carried away. I like Wiley usually but he struggled to keep up with the game.

Mind you it was possibly the most frantic and incident-packed one I have seen in ages.

Doubt it. He didn't mean to put his hand in the way, he just did. The same thing would have happened even if the foul hadn't been blown for.

If he did then he is stupid and should have let it go in.

It was very stupid, but handballs on the line usually are. He would have been in big trouble if the mystery foul hadn't stopped the game.

Couldn't agree more. Santa Cruz looked real quality as well. If pedersen could actually find his left foot again then arsenal where for the taking yesterday.

I don't have a lot of time for tabloid papers but Alan Nixon has to be congratulated for that piece. Thanks for telling it how it is Alan. We all know yesterday's match was far from the dirty encounter ten yellows and a dismissal suggest. The two worst offences came from Arsenal with the van Persie challenge and the elbow in the first half. The simple truth is Arsenal are cheats, no hiding from it and for a man of Wenger's intellect to create a team in this mould says a grerat deal about him and his personal values. Thank God we have Mark Hughes.

:tu:

David Anderson and you may be in for the cold shoulder treatment next time you visit the Emirates.

You both quite clearly have not followed the official line. Indeed you two might be joined in the doghouse with Alan Hansen who also mocked the increasingly divisive utterances of 'Wenger the gallic Whinger'. :rover:

That is the point I was making, but you made an error there and said 10, that's why I was poking fun at a rare mistake :tu: Good write up, could have bashed Wenker a bit more though :D

Read the piece you did in the Mirror today Alan.

Very nice to see someone coming out and saying what they have seen rather then bowing to Wengers comments.

We'll make a Rover of you yet ;)

Should have said ten cards...

By the way how does Styles get a ban from the next game and Wiley apparently escapes?

Is it just a reaction to a TV game embarassment or what?

Wiley has to miss a match too for that ridiculous moment when he played on after the ball was over the line. They all make mistakes at times, but that was just baffling.

great article niko.

why don't more people realise that arsenal give as good as they get. personally i'd whack most of their players anyway, but they think they can't be tackled!

i still think we can finish above the arse and have the last laugh! :rover:

Link from above

i very much doubt this person can offer a blanced opinion.
