Its not concrete.... but;

http://www.goal.com/en/Transfertzone.aspx

they confirm all transfers before they've being announced... always correct though.

Cruz is not on here anymore - http://www.goal.com/en/Transfertzone.aspx

Maybe they just update it alot to make it look like they get it right? If they use Wikipedia, which it looks like they do, i'd get a new source site.

Having been to lunch i come back to 3 pages in which nicko hasn't posted once. This isn't really nicko's thread anymore, more of a pick n' mix topic. :blink:

The Chuckle Brothers work at Man City?

Well it does explain their lack of shots and goals last season.

This are thefour players in question I believe that Rovers are negotiating with:

Alan Smith

Roque Santa Cruz

James Beattie

Henri Camara

I reckon its Pieroni rather than Camara... as apparently he's having talks with us... or maybe Hughes is doing that so Middlesboro want him more, leaving it easier for us to make a move for Smith :tu::lol:

i always had a sneeky thought that Mr Hughes might go for Smith. I hope the deal goes through with the forwards we are being linked with, he's the one i would most like Rovers to get

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :angry::angry: :

Smith is crap, his goal ratio is less than 1 in 5, the vast majority of those at striker. He isnt fast, not good in the air, a poor finisher, not skillful , technique is average. He has all the same qualities as dickov workrate, aggresion apart that dickov has a better goals to game ratio

try saying that to the leeds united fans, they loved him when he was there. I think under sparky and him playing along side bennie i think we will have a very good player on our hands

like....

he holds the ball up well, sets up a lot of goals for other people, he is a nuiscence for defenders and he's still only 26, do i need to go on

Liking a player and him being a good player is totaly diferent, if we had a local lad break through into the first team who give 110% and run his socks off we'd cheer him no matter how ggod he was. Anyhow most Leeds fan lost all respect they had for him hen he joined United. Dont suckered in by the likability of a player, anyone who gets stuck in and gives 110% will be liked, but as a striker his role is to score and or set up goals not run around like a headless chicken and get stuck into tackless tahts the job of a savage or reid

Is this the same Smith that ive seen play , the one with died hair ?. Because you are descrbing someone i dont recognise

Well you're obviously not going to change your opinion on him, I think most people would agree that Smith is quite a talented player. He could be a very good player for the right club, as he was at Leeds (and he's hardly been bad at United). That said, he wouldn't top my list.

If youre happy with a player that will get you 10 goals for every 50 games then thats fair enough? , he is not a technical player who will slip people through, isnt a tagret, man hasnt got great pace. What are his redeeming features as a STRIKER

he reminds me in way of our manager how smith plays, ok i must admit he is not as good as hughes was but under hughes i think he will prove out to a very good signing.

A lot of united fans i know think he's a good player, but he has found it hard to play week in week out due to competition of places united have and because of his bad injury he had

I agree....He hasn't got much pace and not very good in the air either.

Maybe he could do a job in the middle of the park, but I feel we have others that can play this position better. Alan Smith wouldn't get me excited.... :unsure:

You cant compare the two, Hughes coupled his aggression with brut strength and also had great technique.( highlighted by his famous volleying & overheads) Smith has neither of these attributes im afraid. Why do people rate him, im not saying he isn’t a decent footballer but he is not a top 10 striker, he IMO is better suited to centre midfield with the attributes that he possesses, Why would Fergie try to convert him to a CM?

BTW Alot of United i know like him as player (effort, hunger, aggresion, commitment), but say he aint good enough as a striker
