nicko Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Nicko, Is the Philip Degen to Liverpool story a cert? I hoped we would look at him, a good young right back, and with out strong swiss connection at the club I thought we might hold some sway. Is he indeed destined for a bigger better club than ours?? Liverpool are looking for a new right back - possibly as cover - and I hear that story is strong. However until he has signed a pre-contract it isn't completely done. I would say a 75 per cent chance of it happening. The only doubt is whether he wants to come to compete and whether a similar club wants him to start.

nicko Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Nicko, Jimmy Bullard, will he stay or go would you think? Middlesbrough hot for him...or so the Sunday People said a couple of weeks back.
ffan Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Middlesbrough hot for him...or so the Sunday People said a couple of weeks back. 'Boro!! Jims better than that.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Majewski looked very decent against the England under 21's, he really stood out. Oh and from what i've heard so far Spurs fans reckon top four is a dead cert next season with the signing of Modric.
rovers1993 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 nicko any news on the huddlestone front? we were in hot pursuit for him a few months back. he seems to be doing very well in spurs but do you reckon we will still bid for him in the summer? also now that we have vogel.
brian_gallagher85 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 'Boro!! Jims better than that. Why'd he move to Fulham then? ....(sorry couldn't resist)
ffan Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Why'd he move to Fulham then? ....(sorry couldn't resist) Because we are in London.
USABlue Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Because we are in London. Are there many Championship Clubs in London?
thenodrog Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Trying to check out the Polish story...price seems sensible, but it's a new name to me. It's a long time since a Pole made it big here. I doubt it, but I am willing to stand corrected. He could put a few thou on the gate I'd guess.
gumboots Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Yes but the premier league's not exactly awash with New Zealanders or Paraguayans is it? Doesnt mean the ones we have haven't done a good job. If Hughes thinks a Pole can do a job for us then I'll trust his judgement. At least they won't have any trouble finding a dentist they can understand or whatever. By the way did you know that London is the 6th largest French city? Caught that on some business news thing while I was in France.
Dunnfc Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Tomasz Kuszack, Gregorz Rasiak, Marek Sagonowski, Jerzy Dudek, Artur Boruc, Lukasz Fabianski, Macej Zurawski, Kamil Kosowski, Bial Balkowski, Tomasz Cywka have all been in Britain in the last 3 years barring Saganowski this season for the money clubs have spent on these theyve had good value on them or are going to have good value.

To be fair I wouldn't say any of those has set the Prem alight though. Decent players some of them but not really the standard you need to take a club forward.

Presty On Tour Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 poland have produced some great goal keepers over the years, didn't one really upset england a few decades ago?
nicko Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 I didn't know Dave Kitson at Reading had a part-time job...
John Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Manchester United are lining up a £10million bid for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Manchester United are lining up a £10million bid for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. I just can't see that happening even though there is the obvious lure of champions league football, more money and one of his best friends Hargreaves being there. Roque has stated he is very happy at the club and rightfully acknowledging the gamble we took in bringing him here. He has remained injury free most of the season, remarkable considering his spell at Bayern. I attribute that to the fact he now plays week in week out and its clearly getting the best out of him. If he went to Man United he wouldn't be playing week in week out and as a result it wouldn't surprise me if his frequent injuries came back. I can't see Hughes letting him go, Roque is pivotal to any future plans.
Martin Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Manchester United are lining up a £10million bid for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. It's easy to see why United would look at RSC, but I would imagine Roque is still at a stage where he wants to play. Once he has a couple of 40 game seasons under his belt then we can worry. I've never spoken to RSC personally but I get the impression he's a decent guy. I think he knows we took a certain risk in bringing him in - I think he'll stay around for a while. Although he has more than repaid his fee!!!
Hasta Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 More naivety. If he got the chance (and it's a very big if) he'd jump at it. One of he biggest clubs in the world (who are strangely short of strikers) and he wouldn't even need to move house.

With due respect to Roque you need to be quicker than he is to play in that team and with their style.
