gumboots Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 what's your gut feeling on the next rovers manager nicko ? do you think JW will go for the safe option of big sam or gamble on someone like shearer ? surely there's got to be a middle ground between those 2 i.e. someone with managerial experience of some kind even if not premiership but not completely untried like shearer
vintageadidas Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Do you think we will get any coverage in the press when we start looking for a new manager? I think not. " Oh and in other new Blackburn appoint XXX XXXXXXXX as their next manager, now onto the curling championship in Iceland"
gumboots Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Do you think we will get any coverage in the press when we start looking for a new manager? I think not. " Oh and in other new Blackburn appoint XXX XXXXXXXX as their next manager, now onto the curling championship in Iceland" Unless we pull off a sensational signing!
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 what's your gut feeling on the next rovers manager nicko ? do you think JW will go for the safe option of big sam or gamble on someone like shearer ? Young and hungry, but with experience. Willing to work within a tight budget. No baggage. No sleazes, please. This is not the end of the world, just the start of a new one.
dellinsert Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Anybody else think that perhaps we'd gone as far as we could with Hughes anyway?
novella Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 i wonder if this will get sorted today. im looking forward to seeing who our new manager is going to be!
alexanders Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Is it 100% sure that Mark Hughes is taking the ###### job?
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I can't believe that BFS is the only candidate we have in mind as the press seem to be reporting.
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 i wonder if this will get sorted today. im looking forward to seeing who our new manager is going to be! There is absolutely no chance of that. I don't think Rovers know who they even want to talk to yet, never mind naming a boss. Once they have a few names I will hopefully hear some of them.
Brownie Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Young and hungry, but with experience. Willing to work within a tight budget. No baggage. No sleazes, please. This is not the end of the world, just the start of a new one. Hughes to City ?? Time is dragging on ! Half ten and no announcement !
dellinsert Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Young and hungry Willing to work within a tight budget. No baggage. No sleazes, please. This is not the end of the world, just the start of a new one. Here I am!!!
modes98 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Is it 100% sure that Mark Hughes is taking the ###### job? With the amount of articles out saying he will, it is 99% certain and will probably be confirmed very shortly.
alexanders Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Anybody else think that perhaps we'd gone as far as we could with Hughes anyway? Yes. I think he has been lacking enthusiasm and looked quite negative since he was connected to the Newcastle job. I also think that the horrible result against Birmingham where he wasn't able to win and get the effort from the players showed that maybe his years in Blacburn was gone. Pardon my bad english as I am Norwegian
novella Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I can't believe that BFS is the only candidate we have in mind as the press seem to be reporting. isnt it more a case that BFS has us in mind than we have him mind? things will no doubt change over the next few days.
gumboots Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I can't believe that BFS is the only candidate we have in mind as the press seem to be reporting. well don't. That's what they think we deserve/can get. Don't think our chairman is daft enough not to consider other possibilities.

This is not the end of the world, just the start of a new one. Agreed - Not many clubs can lose a manager and be a confident of replacing him as well as we can. Exciting times ahead I think.
alexanders Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I can't believe that BFS is the only candidate we have in mind as the press seem to be reporting. Do JW have him in mind or is it the press who are having him in mind?
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I can't believe that BFS is the only candidate we have in mind as the press seem to be reporting. Allardyce is being pushed by one or two people - I do not fancy his chances personally.

Once they have a few names I will hopefully hear some of them. ahhh sorry i meant the whole hughes going somewhere being sorted today! i assume we wont ahve a new boss until next week at the earliest!
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 With the amount of articles out saying he will, it is 99% certain and will probably be confirmed very shortly. Nothing is ever done until it's done at Man City...
CAPT KAYOS Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 THINGS YOU WISHED YOU HAD STUCK BY... WHAT A WAY TO RUN A FOOTBALL CLUB. So come on Nicko ... what do you reckon - a sure sign of imploding at Chelski Now that would be funny and a sensation!!!
dellinsert Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Good question! If Hughes feels he can't take us any further (which is probably the case) then there's certainly no way that we could do. I believe if he put his mind to it he could have taken us further, but the lack of transfer funds obviousy hinders his own ambitions to succeed. Shame... but when we're naturally viewed as a small club I suppose it adds weight to these decisions. Gun me down but I can understand Hughes' decision. I just feel that he'll leave us is a very strong position, but perhaps need someone with fresh ideas to take us to that next level, ie a serious challenge to the top 4/6.
Sandiway Blue Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Chelsea betting market suspended on betfair........ EDIT: back on,no change in odds
LDRover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Anybody else think that perhaps we'd gone as far as we could with Hughes anyway? Yeah, very much so. For the majority of last season we served up some appalling stuff but the fact we came 7th at the end of the season glossed over it. Like Nicko says it's not the end of the world, just the start of a new one. I'm quite excited about it if the truth be told.
