Sandiway Blue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Coyley doesn't have a dog... And don't insert any dodgy jokes here either. Are you trying to say he is barking up the wrong tree? I`ll get my coat .....

nicko Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 When do you think we will reach a conclusion with regards to Chelsea? (to be honest i am not too worried about Citeh at the moment) If I knew that you would be the second to hear...
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 But does he really want to go to City? I'm not sure he does, to me its all about Chelsea he's made a move to see if Chelsea respond. It wouldn't surprise me if Hughes turns down City. But then that raises the question on what Williams will do. I see SSN reckon it could be a done deal in 48 hours, and they reckon Avram is their second choice and Zico third.
QOTSA Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Getting a pasting from City fans - seems like they're indignant at being compared to Blackburn. Anyone want to defend the Rovers' honour. http://setantasports.com/en/Blogs/A-to-Z-o...ets/blog-space/
nicko Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I see SSN reckon it could be a done deal in 48 hours, and they reckon Avram is their second choice and Zico third. A 'done deal' never takes 48 hours...a 'done deal' takes a few minutes. What's to do? A compensation figure. You have money, you pay it. The manager's terms. Let's not kid ourselves, those have been sorted out behind the scenes. So why the delay? Unless Man City DON'T have the readies to take him or the manager is stalling on an answer because he would rather go to Chelsea.
iamarover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 This could be interesting. Of course City have no legal right to talk to Hughes at all - he's under contract. So, if City and Rovers don't budge, then Hughes would have to walk out. But does he really want to go to City? Is he sure enough about the deal on offer. I suspect they already have talked. Sinatra's advisers dont stand on any ceremony and will probably have talked at least indirectly to Hughes to ensure his willingness to move. Rovers' web site move looks like a negotiation ploy and a clever one at that. But if City wont pay the £5m Nicko suggests (which would hardly cover the cost of a left back reserve), then Hughes can hardly believe the tale they have just spun him on transfer war chests. It would put him in a very tricky position....
alexanders Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 So, is Chelsea going to demand an answer from Scolari soon?
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I think its because he has a take no nonsense kind of attitude, alot like hughes. He speaks the truth. Plus hes in a rockband. whats not to like?! Sold!!
den Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Thinking again about Nicko's post, if City believe they don't have to agree compensation before being allowed to talk to Hughes, - that suggests a get out clause. Now how would they know about that?
Rover95 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hughes now 10-1 for Chelsea manager on Bet 365???? We need to concentrate on finding a new manager and a good one at that. I remember thinking the club took a risk when they appointed Hughes and I would like to see them do the same this time. Paul Ince would be good shout for me. As long as we avoid Allardyce, McClaren or anyone similar.
nicko Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 So, is Chelsea going to demand an answer from Scolari soon? Abramovich has to have an answer fast or he could be left waiting on Scolari - and miss out on Sparky. I imagine Kenyon and Arnesen have put that too him at some stage over the past couple of days. I don't know Big Roman's thoughts on that one, but I do know he is in Switzerland on Thursday to talk to the Chelsea Frenchmen...and give them 'some news' according to my source. No idea what that will be or even if it is significant.

Now how would they know about that? There is NO get-out clause. The compo figure has to be agreed...in advance.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I am so disappointed that Hughes sees fit to speak to City, especially after the despicable treatment of SGE by its owner. Its hard to understand and for all the fans I'm afraid this feels like a real kick in the privates......I just dont know who to believe in anymore in football.Again as others have stated I just hope to god he has the grace not to come knocking for our best players as we just dont deserve to be treated like that. ** BIG SIGH**
Sandiway Blue Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 To be honest i think Hughes to Chelsea is a done deal.I wouldn`t be surprised if Chelsea`s board hasn`t encouraged Hughes to take this step to put Abramovich on the spot and force his hand. Hughes knows Citeh would appoint him in a heartbeat so all he needed to do was to let his agent make the right noises towards them.
den Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 There is NO get-out clause. The compo figure has to be agreed...in advance. Cheers, that looks straight forward then. Can't for the life of me understand how City don't have the money though.

If it was a done deal he would be there right now. Compo would NOT be an issue for them.
nicko Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Cheers, that looks straight forward then. Can't for the life of me understand how City don't have the money though. It's not that they don't have it, but that they will try to keep the figure low or ask for HP terms. John Williams will ask for as much as he can. Time, at the moment, is on his side.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I fully trust Williams in this process, very shrewd and a great chairman
tony gale's mic Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Do you think it's more likely he'll be off to City or Chelsea nicko?
alexanders Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 John Williams will ask for as much as he can. Time, at the moment, is on his side. JW is a fantastic business man !
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 This could be interesting. Of course City have no legal right to talk to Hughes at all - he's under contract. So, if City and Rovers don't budge, then Hughes would have to walk out. But does he really want to go to City? Is he sure enough about the deal on offer? If he does walk out, then there's absolutely no way back. Den's post raised another interesting point for me here....would this be a plot by the Russian to save some Roubles? (remember rich men don't get rich by throwing money around!) Also, am I right in assuming that if Hughes did indeed walk out we'd be taking him to court for breach of contract and in turn get buttons in comparison to the compo from another club?
nicko Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Do you think it's more likely he'll be off to City or Chelsea nicko? I think the 48-hour delay thing confirms what I said first thing this morning...he is waiting for Chelsea, but he will probably take Man City if they don't talk Roman out of waiting for Scolari. So - as said before - it's really down to Roman to decide on that. Complicated, but that's how it stands. If Sparky was totally sold on Man City he would be unveiled tonight. My info is he is holding on for the dream job he really wants.
jim mk2 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 My info is he is holding on for the dream job he really wants. That's the Old Trafford job presumably. Still don't see Hughes at Chelsea when there are far more exotic and exciting names available to them. What happened to Mancini ?
