Veevs Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The perfect time to give him a runout will be against Grimsby in midweek. He was probably only on the bench to make the numbers up being 7 these days. With his chicken pox it probably means he is a bit below match sharpness at the moment, not quite ready for the cut and thrust of the premiership. I don't think it's anything to be alarmed about, like I said he should feature at some point against Grimsby, then we'll hopefully have a slightly better idea of what this guy is about and where he might positionally feature for Rovers this season. As for Joaquin, I think this one will float around around until the end of the transfer window. Didn't someone translate a quote earlier in this thread that said he would make up his mind on the 30th? Judging from the reports there is obviously an interest in him, I just think Rovers are trying to get Valencia's asking price down a bit, if they succeed in doing that he could well become a Blackburn player late in the window. There has been a lot of talk about a bit of a cash crisis in Valencia, not qualifying for the champions league surely had a big impact on this, they want to hold on to prize assets such as Villa and Silva who recentley signed a new contract so there is a good chance someone will have to go, even if he is not keen on leaving the club. Agreee totally.. Valencia are in huge debt to the tune of 156% of the value of the club.. they are almost finished with their new tiny stadium (75K seats).. and have a core of players they don't want to loose.. Joaquin is seemingly one they are willing to listen to offers for.. just wish we would go in for Maduro or Albelda both seemingly available.. and decent players.. Really do hope Carlos is out there against Grimsby.. really looking forward to seeing that the lad can offer... He was on every official line up I saw against Everton, was wearing the kit on the day and was seen celebrating in front of the cameras with the rest of the team at the end. My bad got that mixed up with hull game.. brain refusing to function today.. stupid hangovers..

Russ Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 My bad got that mixed up with hull game.. brain refusing to function today.. stupid hangovers.. I put him in my fantasy team thinking he would get a run out for the last 30 mins when we were two or three nil up... ... imagine my disappointment all round!!!
nicko Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 TARGETS - I do know of a couple of players being watched today which suggests that they have not made up their minds about which ones to sign for the central and right wing positions. But I'm not going to say who and what games yet until things move. It would be wrong to build up hopes and then dash them. To be fair there are a lot of people at games today, so they are trying...and obviously were going even before yesterday's result.
DingleBaiter Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 It would be wrong to build up hopes and then dash them. Why? Rovers have been doing it for years with us

Just kidding, thanks for the update nicko. Nice to know we are looking at a wide number of targets, clubs won't nessicarily be able to force prices up if they know we are prepared to look elsewhere. There aren't too many domestic games today so I'm guessing were looking abroad.
cn174 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Koumas IS playing for Wigan Was. Gone off at half time injured.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 We've dodged the bullet for another window then it would appear
alexanders Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Valencia IS playing for Wigan. 22:00 Real Madrid ? - ? Valencia 20:45 Inter Milan ? - ? AS Roma 16:00 Manchester C. ? - ? West Ham U. 20:00 Espanyol ? - ? Udinese 16:00 Auxerre ? - ? Nice 16:00 Rennes ? - ? Lille 21:00 Bordeaux ? - ? Nantes 19:15 FC Porto ? - ? Belenenses 21:15 Rio Ave ? - ? Benfica It has to be a couple of these games.
roverfanuk Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Nicko, do you know if SWP is being considered by Rovers?
ewoodifhecould Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Rumous today from Chelsea saying SWP is off to Everton. Would have been ideal for us, you know anything about that Nicko?
bringdunnback Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 When you say you don't want to build up hopes, surely that means that there are some exciting players being watched. Out of interest, nicko who will Arsenal sign for centre midfield. If it's Alonso, I think they could make a push for the title but if it's Barry, then probably not.

Your a very mean man Nicko.. you know we will get our hopes up anyway lol.. especially given a certain team playing today. couple of players.. central and right.. hmm.. Valencia IS playing for Wigan. 22:00 Real Madrid ? - ? Valencia 20:45 Inter Milan ? - ? AS Roma 16:00 Manchester C. ? - ? West Ham U. 20:00 Espanyol ? - ? Udinese 16:00 Auxerre ? - ? I know which fixture we would hope barry/Ince is at.. a certain Real v Valencia match.. but sadly I would imagine allot of other teams will be there as well especially given lots of teams around us are looking for def Mid and right sided midfielders players.. and also the time of the match..

alexanders Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I am taking a big guess at Gökhan Inler at Udinese, Valencia at Wigan, Stephane M'bia at Rennes, Angél Di Maria at Benfica and Ricardo Quaresma at FC Porto.

alexanders Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Nicko - M'bia isnt playing for Rennes today nor is he on the bench. Is he closing in on a move to the Toffees?

Di Maria - http://www.planetbenfica.co.uk/news.php - recently turned 20m Euros.. err Blackburn? Quaresma - http://www.goal.com/en-india/Articolo.aspx...tenutoId=829539 - Already have a 20m Euro offer... err blackburn Valencia - Doubtful - £?m M'Bia - Possible.. £6-7m may be in our range Inler - Possible but not probable - £7.8m buyout clause but I thought Arsenal where keen

Eddie Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 We could probably afford all but Quaresma, but I doubt we will make a bid for any of them.
alexanders Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Seriously, I would guess Inler. Arsenal haven't made a move yet. He would be a perfect addition to central midfield. say £6m for Inler and £5 for Pennant. We would be a much better side already.
LeChuck Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 This thread really goes drastically down hill when there are no rumours with substance to talk about.
Veevs Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Seriously, I would guess Inler. Arsenal haven't made a move yet. He would be a perfect addition to central midfield. say £6m for Inler and £5 for Pennant. We would be a much better side already. We would have to hit the buyout clause with Inler (7.8m) as Udinese dont want to sell.. and I think Liverpool will try and push the price up for Pennant (who I am not sure about myself).. I still think we are most likely to have a final look at Joaquin with his strength and pace he would be the better choice... and make a choice between him or Pennant or another.. Maybe even take a sneak peak at Riera.. but I would not even have the slightest clue with the Central mid guy (although you may be right with Inler) beyond Ince hoping Andrews can hack it.. And as for us being able to afford Di Maria.. not a hope in hell now especially after his performances at the olympics, we should of tried for him when we where first interested last year.
RoverRich Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Di Maria only played in the Olympic final yesterday so he wouldn't be playing for Benfica today anyway
alexanders Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 We would have to hit the buyout clause with Inler (7.8m) as Udinese dont want to sell.. Euros or pounds?
