T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Do you seriously want rid of Sam? If so then what??? I knew as soon as I wrote that someone would be obtuse enough to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5. Just for you though, as if it really needs saying - no I don't want rid of Sam.

Roversider Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Town, tahn, time, Tyne - what the heck. Sam would be correct to describe us as a small town club in order to differentiate us from three quarters of the Premiership. All a bit irrelevant and more reflecting his frustration at the ability of 'bigger' clubs to destabilise our players. Of course he is disappointed that he can't compete in the transfer market as much as he would like and I am sure he thought that there would be some more money available but in this day and age keeping a tight rein on the money is key. Also I suspect that the wages/transfer fee/other signing fees balance is tipped more towards the 'hidden' costs rather than the visible transfer fee. Its the whole package that matters. Meanwhile I am not fearful of how things are going, come back after 8 games. As for Sam, his tactics are usually astute, the team looks fitter and we finally look dangerous at every set-piece, can't remember thinking that under Hughes. Players need to start hitting the goal more often and not off target. Finally, Sam pretty much knew what he was signing up for at Ewood, tight control of the costs but every penny available given to the manager. A chairman who is commited to the club and doesn't interfere in the playing side and a realiustic aspiration for the club. A few smiles from Sam would cheer me up and I hope the rest of the depressives on this board
Guest TuGays One Cup Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous. Sutton is nowhere near the black country. I refer you to my previous post where you can LISTEN to Sam say time and then go and listen to him say town in the recent interview. Nicko also agree's he said time, he said it was regrettable. Its our fault for not being newcastle and you really should stop defending him he's dragging this club down into the gutter.
Guest TuGays One Cup Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Well if Nicko said it... He did on transfer thread seriously he did check it
CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Nicko also agree's he said time, he said it was regrettable. Its our fault for not being newcastle and you really should stop defending him he's dragging this club down into the gutter. Go and LISTEN to the interview I posted and then listen to the recent interview and then come back and tell me that he says time in the new one. He quite plainly doesn't say time in the recent interview. Just go ahead and listen to it! I'm not going to defend Sam with anything but the facts and you need to hear what he says and watch it before making comments like you've made. Anybody, Nicko included, can go and make their own judgement based on the two interviews rather than argue the toss here...

CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 he says TIME in the new one Did you watch and listen to the old one then and compare to the new one? If so and you still think he said time I'm giving up trying to prove the truth to you. I know what he said and anybody with decent hearing and vision can compare the two and see what he said. He DID NOT say time but it seems to suit you to believe it no matter what. Whatever, I'll leave you to your little agenda. Something smells very WUM about you.
Mattyblue Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Nicko also agree's he said time, he said it was regrettable. Its our fault for not being newcastle and you really should stop defending him he's dragging this club down into the gutter. Is he hell! Some hysterical nonsense on here today. So Sam's got an ego as bag as his jaw? I don't care less, he's the man who can get the most of a limited bunch of players. He's a mercenary, THEY ALL ARE!!!! Players, coaches, the lot. The only constant are the fans, if the mercenaries make the club achieve then great.
67splitscreen Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 he says TIME in the new one No he does not IMO it is more town than time but it is hard to make out. I will put it down to unclear and give him the benefit of doubt as I can't ask him to repeat the statement. Anyway that was yesterday, today we move on. COYB
adopted scouser Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 he says TIME in the new one Shouldn't you be at home ironing your replica shirt ? You know, the one with 'Cooke' on it ?
mark1875 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 i listened to the interview and posted his comments on here yesterday i have since re-checked since i read these comments on this thread and i am still of the opinon he says "small town club"
Guest TuGays One Cup Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Shouldn't you be at home ironing your replica shirt ? You know, the one with 'Cooke' on it ? whatever brian he still said time rather than town if thats what i believe it dont make me not a rover i just dislike sam he seems to think he's doing us a favour. and our team is'nt bad and its only a few players short of the one hughes left us everyone is just blinded by ince and big sams poor showings and believe that safety is success broaden your horizons please get with the program please no more anti sam haters
alexanders Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 He said WE in the beginning of the interview.
CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 whatever brian he still said time rather than town if thats what i believe it dont make me not a rover i just dislike sam he seems to think he's doing us a favour. and our team is'nt bad and its only a few players short of the one hughes left us everyone is just blinded by ince and big sams poor showings and believe that safety is success broaden your horizons please get with the program please no more anti sam haters How you think Sam thinks he's doing us a favour I do not know. There's nothing in any of his interviews that suggests such a thing. You have an anti-Sam agenda obviously and you'll beleive what you want. I don't have an agenda but I'll defend someone against wrong accusations all day long which is why I've posted what I've posted here. I know what he said, I can see and hear it. Anybody else can compare his pronunciation of 'time' on one interview and see it's not the same as the recent one. End of.

Guest TuGays One Cup Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 6 first teamers is more than a few ok Robinson - Freidel but im quite happy with that one (age) warnock still here just samba nelson emerton gamst dunn ok tugay but everyone reckons salgado gonna play there ok bentley benni ok santa but weve had money to replace these diouff an kalanic sams replaced these players so your point is
Guest charlie1 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 i don't like allardyce and i never will but he did a good job in keeping us up so i'm prepared to support him for now. However he comes across in interviews like he does'nt want to be here.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I have reservations about aspects of Sam. As for Mark Hughes, I felt he was very good for us but had run his course. If you thought otherwise I suggest that you weren't at St.Andrews when he was pretty inept both tactically and using his substitutions. Also we never, ever looked like we would score on a set-piece, definitely improved on that under Sam. We've had bad managers in the past but I wouldn't put Allardyce in that list - Ince (might come good yet), Kidd, Iley etcetera. Give the board their due though, they have a good track record on picking good ones. I'm not against Sam Haters, just disagree with your opinion. But don't post if you feel persecuted
tcj_jones Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Surely if he had said 'small TOWN club' and not 'small TIME club', somebody would have corrected SSN by now? Namely, Allardyce himself. I doubt he'd let Sky Sports misqoute him in a manner that put him in a bad light to the fans.
mark1875 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 i aint even going to waste my time defending Sam Allardyce. he did that himself by keeping us in the premier league against all the odds. i aint interested in people who are going to nit-pick at him because of their personal dislike of him. my main concern is our premiership survival and as long as he keeps this alive he has my backing. i wont partake in personal vendettas

But don't post if you feel persecuted Agree but now we never ever look like we will score from open play, definately gone worse on that under sam. I don't think it's been quoted anywhere has it? but thats because sam must be right were small time why would it be quoted?.............

CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 but thats because sam must be right were small time why would it be quoted?............. I would very much expect newspapers, Sky themselves and everybody and his brother to make a big deal if Sam called the team he is managing 'small-time'. Since nobody has I suspect they all know what he actually said...
