67splitscreen Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 IMO it should have been brought in by now. I cannot see any valid argument for it not to have been. The only alternative to me would be two officials on either goal line, play breaks so fast at times, there is no way current linesman can keep up with play puuting them in a position to make the vital calls. WC, relegation, promotion and cup winners all decided currently on what could be a huge error.

Mr. E Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 that is obvious. The only idiot on the planet that will debate this are Seth Blatter and his band of FIFA idiots. But there's no point talking about it because nothing will change before he resigns. Which won't happen soon.

Pressure from all directions will force the change. Blatter says the technology will cost to much for all to adopt, I doubt he's statement regarding cost is fact. Edi. I have just found this. For a version of hawkeye 50k for 5 seasons per club. My link
philipl Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The technology is getting cheaper- just strap a £20 mobile with onboard video camera to the post! Shows how bad England were that this thread is getting so few posts.
Mr. E Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Who is this Seth guy? Any relation to Sepp? I hardly have enough respect for him to learn his name.
philipl Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 It was never a goal. Great attempt at a stirrer there!
67splitscreen Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 It was never a goal. Correct and it was all Sam's fault.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 FIFA are probably over joyed at the English getting hammered today after another awful decision. IF England were actually good and lost by only 1 goal then maybe we would have seen a very strong case for FIFA to introduce video replays. Unfortunately the huge victory probably means it won't have as big an impact on FIFA's reputation.

MarkBRFC71 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Well I've emailed FIFA telling them why they should adopt goal-line technology. Mainly in 4 letter words. Probably will have no effect but made me feel a little better.
American Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Would be funny if they emailed you back that you should worry getting some real defenders instead of the goal line technology.
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Would be funny if they emailed you back that you should worry getting some real defenders instead of the goal line technology. Ideally both!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Another reason for video technology in the Argentina and Mexico match. Goal was offside, the ref/lino see it on the replay on the big screen and realise their wrong but won't change their mind because they've already given it. FIFA, sort it out. It's a complete embarrassment not just in the World Cup but in football around the world. Bloody Tevez, offside and video replays
philipl Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Getting worse- the big screen showed the Tevez goal was offside and everyone includng the officials could see they had made a humdinger of a mistake. But they are not allowed to change it. Well done Septic Blast.
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Sepp Blatter and FIFA's credibility destroyed in 4 hours. Marvellous.
Hughesy Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 FIFA = Joke. 2010, the world is more or less run with technology yet they wont allow it!! It takes 1 simple sensor in the ball to fix it & they wont allow it!! Pathetic!
ABBEY Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 SIMPLE USE TECCHNOLGY FROM TENISS OR CRICKET (HAWKEYE-HOTSPOT ).... give each team(borrowed from NFL) 3 red flags to challenge a decision, if you believe its wrong throw the flag and wait til the ball goes out and then check. if you are right you lose one flag only ,if your wroing then lose two (poss).

It takes 1 simple sensor in the ball to fix it & they wont allow it!! Pathetic! even simpler than that - just allow the refs to take a look at the replay. Would take less than 10 seconds for some decisions. but I'm pretty sure Blatter is enjoying this. He's like a fat sultan sitting on top of his FIFA empire, laughing when complete cock-ups like this happen, then going on about how "human error is the tradition of the game".

Could we have white ones.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Just let another official watch the game and talk with the ref whilst the game is on. The ref won't even have to wait 10 seconds to find out whats going on.
beerwins Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 They have the fourth official on the sidelines just there to wind up the managers I think, why not sit him down with a tv and replay equipment? They already have earpieces it would take 10 seconds to watch a replay and make a decision. There is not one decent reason for not using video replays.
LeChuck Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I was annoyed how the BBC kept banging on about goal line technology and excusing the officials. The linesman saw it perfectly, there was nothing blocking his view. If he was competent then technology wouldn't be needed. Having said that I'm all for technology, football is the only major team sport in this country not to have it really.
