A friend of mine in Formby who has Everton connections reckons Everton have made a move for Adam with fringe players offered as part of the deal.

My flatmate is an Everton fan and he said pretty much the same thing to me a couple of days ago

Everton are a club going nowere, they have no money, and will more than likely loose the likes of Arteta and Pienaar at the end of the season, I would fancy us to get him over Everton to be honest. I'm pretty sure I saw an interview with David Moyes and he said that Everton are definitely not making any signings in Jan aart from maybe a loan.

Nicko, is it good news about rovers signing Adam or is it bad news and somebody else is signing him???

I believe that was answered within about five posts of his original.

Surprising news, but possibly good in the end for Rovers. More will be revealed at 11.

Am I alone in not wanting Charlie Adam?

Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but I don't think he solves any problems. Dunn and Pedersen are neat, tidy and relatively creative (not dissimilar to Adam).

What we need is a destroyer who is comfortable on the ball, someone who can grab the game by the scruff of neck in times like the final 30 minutes yesterday. We just don't have anyone who can win that midfield battle and retain possession, and Adam isn't that player.

People are wanting big names to come, and can see why Adam is not wanted by all. But he is the type of player we need, and willing to work hard as a team. Not by having a team of individuals.

Is he significantly better than Pedersen? He stands out in the Blackpool team, but then I think Peds would as well. I don't see how they could both play in the same team, unless we put one of them out wide.

I'd take Adam if there was a guarantee of another central midfielder too, but I don't think that will happen. Adam will cost a fair bit, I don't think there will be money to get a quality holding player that we desperately need.

From what I've seen I agree with that. Still think we need a midfield destroyer as well as Adam, wouldn't mind seeing something like this if we are to play a four man midfield:

Ireland is by far the least favourite. He's been awful every single time he's played for us, never wanted to leave City, doesn't give a ###### about improving as a footballer and basically a disease. I'd sell him for free if I were in charge.

I know many fans who are deeply concerned by events at Ewood Park. It is still the case we know nothing of the owners intentions and spending a bucket load of money will not calm those fears.

Actually, it will, to be honest. To a large extent.

Much better than Pedersen, and probably on a par with Dunny ability-wise, although able to run without pulling something. As has already been said, a vast improvement on what we've got centrally. If it was a straight choice between MGP and Adam, it would be Charlie every time.

Agree we need a holding player, and if we were to get a decent one I just don't see where Dunny or MGP gets into the team unless we play 3 centrally.

I think you're being unfair to this Blackpool team, they have some good players. Adam stands out because he's a very good player.

That wouldn't surprise me at all.Seem to remember when Everton played at Bloomfield Rd this season Charlie boy was outstanding and "completely ran the show".

Not to sure where that quote came from but I believe Moyes himself might have even said it.

Ive watched Adam quite close when possible and would love the fella at ewood.

Even if Everton are interested surely we're still in pole position. I can see why the player may possibly choose Everton over us, but isn't their budget the same as ours in the summer? I can't see too many of Everton's first teamers fitting into Blackpool's wage structure either.

If we were only to sign 1 player this window (yes I know we'd be doomed) it would be Charlie Adam. The guy is absolute class. A great passer of the ball. He orchestrates that Blackpool side.

If his name was Charlio Adaminiho he would be worth astronomical money.

Doesn't sound too good from this;

In October 2006, he was accused of rape by a 22-year old American student while in Rome, but was later released and allowed to return to France.

On 2 December 2010, he was arrested in Sofia for drunk driving and producing a fake driving license.
