"Then there's also Junior Hoilett, Martin Olsson, Grant Hanley. Look at Jason Lowe who will play tomorrow (on Saturday). I have a 16-year-old who is like Steven Gerrard at his age. The thing we have to do is get in the top half of the table this year and invest in 24-28-year-olds that hold the young group together."

Anybody have a clue who this might be? Robbie Cotton perhaps.

The negativity just can't help itself from boiling over into other threads.

I'd call it incredulity.

This kid hasn't even played a PL game yet and Kean's already comparing him to one of the PL's finest. No pressure, then?

Sometimes deep down you want to give Kean a chance despite the results you look for that ray of hope, then he keeps making ridiculous comments that just make you think he is so deluded how can you believe anything he says.

He obviously feeds Venkys the same tosh.

Her has to win tomorrow or he's in a bigger mess.

I might have read it wrong but it sounds like he is claiming responsibility for the rise of Phil Jones. He is quoted as saying that Phil Jones didn't even have a squad number when he came to the club.

Funny I thought is was Sam who gave him his debut and also saw his potential as a defensive midfielder.

He's probably getting Phil Jones mixed up with Jason Roberts.

We've all done it...

To be fair to him i'd say he's prob talking about his work on the training pitch from when he came to the club not from when he took over as manager.

Yes it can be read one or two ways. Given his penchant for boosting his own ego and bigging himself up I saw it from the other angle.

And can i just state i am not repeat not defending the job he is doing if this angle being spun the other way was to contribute to his removal i'd spin it that way too.

I think Cotton has been on the bench in a cup game? I seem to remember that somebody suggested that the lad is a bit cocky so I'm not sure whether Kean should be bigging him up so publicly. Still, given his background Kean should recognise a young talent so his assessment could be very encouraging.

Maybe Parsonblue or a couple of the other youth/ressie watchers could provide an informed opinion?

'As he went to private school. Myles is a late developer, like Chris Smalling'.

I mean, come on!

:D

That is wonderful. The man is a comedy legend. To all but Rovers fans, at least...

"Like Arsenal we are developing young players. I think we are trying to buy and play younger players and develop their talents," Kean said. "Phil Jones, for example, did not have a squad number when I arrived and now he is worth £20 million.

Well done on bringing Phil jones through, Steve...
