cmb211087 Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I thought that, clearly changed it to make it a lot smaller.
brian_gallagher85 Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Narrow for domestic and wider for Europe.
BuckyRover Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Sam used to do it at Bolton... Get out of town. I don't believe you. (I was being sarcastic btw)
ABBEY Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Sam used to do it at Bolton... For real?
Josh Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I believe they change it for Europa League games Edit: which I have just seen has already been posted in this thread, my mistake
Seggie Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Sam used to do it at Bolton... I'm sure our pitch got narrower in Sams first full season here I believe they change it for Europa League games Edit: which I have just seen has already been posted in this thread, my mistake I think that's due to Uefa rules for the competition.
Kelbo Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 As I understand it, the pitch dimensions have to meet a minimum size, other than that, they can do as they like, indeed, Burnley, when they played Stoke, brought the advertising boards forward to prevent Delap having a run whilst taking a throw!! Asrenal narrow their pitch for a quick passing game, Dalglish had the pitch cut to the same length (even at Brockhall) and lots of water to make it lively!!
Steve Moss Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 . . . Dalglish had the pitch cut to the same length (even at Brockhall) and lots of water to make it lively!! That's a manager.
Paul Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Have they or are they allowed to change dimensions mid season? ABBEY. I can't remember the club but I can recall this happening more than 40 years ago. It's not new. There are minimum and maximum dimensions and the club can work within those as it wishes.
Hughesy Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Stoke away game brought forward 48 hours to Saturday 12.45 Might go that one now it's no longer Monday night!
3rdpillar Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 congleton on the P155, fur coat and no knickers won't know whats hit 'em.
Amo Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Sam used to do it at Bolton... I thought he'd make the pitch longer, not narrower?

roversmum Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I thought he'd make the pitch longer, not narrower? Quite. It was actually quite a bit shorter. You could see the marks of the old pitch there.

John Beck had the grass longer in the corners.
