rhodie Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Found a great football stat site on t`internet and enjoyed looking through the all time league table, makes depressing reading when you see the dingles are above us but not so bad when you notice the difference in games played. Some surprising names in the top 20. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/all-time-table

Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 That's got to be the all-time league table though? As in all divisions. We're ahead of them on the all-time top division table. Because Burnley played more games there than other founding members. We're ahead of them on the real all-time table. I think we're either 10th or 11th on that. But City will overtake us in the next year or two.
Stuart Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 That must be the most pointless table ever? So teams which have been mainly successful in the lower divisions - and therefore mainly played lower league appears in the overall top 20? Can anyone glean anything worthwhile from that table - in terms of any sensible ranking of clubs?
Audax Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Still a cool table to look at, the defunct clubs, ring any bells? Wolves at 5th, PNE up there.
yoda Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Still a cool table to look at, the defunct clubs, ring any bells? Wolves at 5th, PNE up there. we have a better points per game ratio than the dingles, 1.1354 as apposed to 1.1268. If we had played the same amount of games we would be in 7th place. stats eh
McClarky Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Doesn't really mean anything as you can't compare lower division stalwarts like Burnley and Preston with high flyers like us can you? Still interesting though.
longsiders1882 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Straw sales must be going well in Blackburn these days.
rhodie Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 If you move through the menus on the left of the table, you can also follow the form of different teams as well, it has home and away stats, predicted end of season positions based on current form etc. this link shows form for the championship up to now. Some useful info if you like the odd wager. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2013-2014/form-table/full
McClarky Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Straw sales must be going well in Blackburn these days. Ha ha, I would say it must have shocked you to see us below you in a table but sadly I can't anymore.
Audax Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Preston North End were a power when they had Tom Finney. And Bill Shankly.
had.e.nuff Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 If you have been in the lower leagues for long periods you will have played more games thus getting more points as there are more games played in the lower leagues
Brfcrule1 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 totally pointless table to think Wolves,PNE & Sheff Utd are all above us in that league tells us nothing about what could happen in the future
darrenrover Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 totally pointless table to think Wolves,PNE & Sheff Utd are all above us in that league tells us nothing about what could happen in the future It may be so but consider other criteria. Size of towns/city's populous for example. Where would Blackburn feature on that list? I know the answer by the way but when contemplating our future it's well worth bearing in mind. It would appear heritage, history etc count for bugger all these days!

Rovers are up where we belong on that, amongst the big boys.

West Yorks Rover Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 The all time prem league table. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/all-time-table/pl-years There is another one where we are 11th in the real all time prem/top division table. Perhaps you could do the link for that, sorry I can't. - think it's the one that is listed simply as all Cheers !

Brfcrule1 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Blimey it states Darwen was in the top flight in 1893-1894. Rovers won both games but very interesting to see they beat Utd twice 1-0 home and away. I wonder was Fergie in charge of them then & was there Fergie time in those days & did Fergie have as much influence over referees then? Could anyone please advise the Darwen that was in the top flight then was it the same club as AFC Darwen
Baz Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 The statto one is interesting but needs a points per game column too. On that basis we'd be close to Spuds and above Everton. At the moment though we have a reasonable 100 point gap on Citeh.

Brfcrule1 Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 cheers odb would be interesting to see any footage of the game and how they'd approach the game. It brings back happy memories of the time we did the double over Utd when Gray Mugged Scholes fed MGP ball was into the roof of the net classic goal.
