But Chelsea do and they have arguably one of the best managers in the game.

Our club is , IMV, appallingly run.

IMV, we are substantially over staffed from top to bottom and this is borne out by headcount levels.

In 2012 (relegation season) as a PL club, the club employed 267 people of which 140 were football players / management.

Three years later in 2014 (with approx. £100m losses racked up in that period), the club employed 269 people of which 156 were football players / management.

Anyone with an ounce of business acumen would go through our structures like a knife through butter. Our 1st team football management structure and the club's medical / conditioning department are all, IMV, ripe for radical change and pruning. Give me quality over quantity every day of the week. I think there are too many self serving empires within our club that need demolishing.

But the two Manchester clubs don't and arguably, they've been the most successful domestic clubs in recent times.

that's depends on what you are saying is recent times.

Chelsea have won the league 4 times, FA cup 4 times and the league cup 3 times in the last 10 seasons plus won the Champions League once and Europe League once aswell in that time. I would say that they have been MORE successful than Man City have been in that time. So I would say that you have left them out more to suited your argument tbf Mercerman.

The football manager should be the only decided on the coaching set up, structure and the people employed in the roles of specialist.

you have suggesting making people of the coaching staff redundant but you don't know what their roles are within the coaching setup and what the bring to the table.

Chaddy, we are Rovers, a struggling Championship club and not an Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc.

As such, you cut your cloth accordingly.

We simply can't afford, and don't need, Bowyer and three 'pals'. If both Manchester clubs make do with three then I can see no reason why Rovers can't !

Look at Big Sam, he always operated with an assistant and a coach - full stop.

Wrong.

A football manager should agree with his board the requirements. Sadly, IMV, our board is so inept.

I know what our coaching team bring to the table. IMV, it's the same crap served up week after week and apart from a few brief hours, we've spent almost 3 seasons out of even the top six under Bowyer and co.. I deal in facts and results - with those you simply can't argue.

well at the minute we can afford it cos the owners are still funding the club and backing Bowyer. The owners have clearly authorised Bowyer that he can have the coaching staff he wants.

on Big Sam, you are correct that he did have number 2 and first team coach with him BUT Iain Brunskill(Reserve team manager) would be with the 1st team coaching set up on Match days and sat in the stands with Big Sam

Come on Chaddy, you are better than that.

In actual fact, we are far from mid table where we would need to be 12th. We are 18th with just one win in ten games this season.

You have to compare like with like.

I am talking about the coaching side and not psychologists, fitness gurus etc. My point remains valid.

They are coaches, each of the teams you mentioned has more coaches for first team affairs than you stated, thus making your point invalid. It's ok to just say you were wrong, your balls won't shrink or amything.
