A square, low cross is spilled by Steele. The Norwich man taps in. 28. Emnes bamboozles 4 defenders before sliding a perfect ball to an unmarked Graham on the edge of the box. Graham swivels nicely but his shot is just wide. He should have scored! 47. Norwich pump a high free kick into the box. Although unchallenged, Steele drops the ball. Fortunately no Norwich man is close enough to profit! 57. Mahoney's over-hit cross seemed to go over the line but there is no whistle. Emnes passes the ball gently to the Norwich keeper! 67. A low cross by Williams is met by Joao who hammers the ball against the post. He should have scored! Emnes blasts the rebound into the sky. 70. Mahoney hits a poor free kick over everybody and out for a goal kick. 72. Mahoney crosses hard and low into the box and this time Joao turns it into the net. 77. A great cross by Graham to the back post is headed powerfully into the net by Joao. 81. The Norwich winger makes good progress down his right wing but there are 2 Rovers with him. Williams is turned inside out and Lowe is too slow to challenge. The cross should have been intercepted by Akpan but he hesitated. It falls to Jerome and his shot is deflected into the net. An assessment of individual player performance v Fulham Ratings Steele ** * Williams * ****** ******* Lenihan *********** *** Hoban *********** Nyambi ************ **** * Lowe ** ******** **** Guthrie ******* **** * Bennett(68) ****** * Conway(88) * ******** ***** * Graham(59) **** * Emnes ******* Joao(59) *** ********** Mahoney * ***** *** Feeney(88) * * Highlights and Lowlights 11. Poor backpass by Nyambi, Lenihan can’t prevent it going for a corner. 16 Two strong tackles by Lowe rouse the faithful (and infuriate the opposition!) 20. Guthrie somehow stumbles over the ball allowing Cairney a clear run at goal. He decides to pass but it’s a poor one and we escape. 23. The Fulham man is sprinting on to a ball chipped into the box. Steele has to run to meet him and makes the save. 23. Nyambi slides a good ball through to Bennett and his cross is deflected to Conway but his shot is saved. 44. A flowing, full length of the pitch move by Fulham ends with an accurate cross into the box. Williams has not tracked his man and Fulham score. 72. Joao collects a long ball and does a clever backheel allowing Conway to storm into the box. He is brought down and it should have been a penalty! 77. Joao wins the ball in Rovers’ half and delivers a beautiful ball for Emnes to run on to. He is felled in the box. PENALTY! 78. Conway smashes the ball into the middle of the net. 85. Williams is unable to prevent the winger's run and cross into the box. The Fulham sub gets there before Lenihan to score a nice goal. 87. The ball comes to an unmarked Conway on the edge of the box but he hits it first time and skies it out of the ground! 93. Feeney collects Lowe’s long pass nicely and feeds Williams on the wing. Williams’ cross is perfect and Joao scores from two metres. Sorry, still having trouble getting the formatting and the colours to behave! (It looks perfect on my PC.) You know, it's funny but I used my "Newcastle away" player analysis as a template for this and Graham was outstanding: Graham **** ************* *

alcd
Williams should have a row of black stars for his failure to stop crosses that led to goals and a hit post. Whatever he did right (not much from what I saw) was negated by his total inability to stop the crosses going in.

As far as I'm concerned the first role of a full back is to ensure that no danger comes to the team from that flank. Anything else is a bonus. There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics!
Oldgregg86
Since the turn of the year Williams has been poor, however the first half of the season I thought he was one of our better performers
