Best way at looking at this transfer window so far is, has our first 11 improved on last season?

Is McLoughlin better than Batth?

Is De Neve better than Dolan?

They are so far the only changes to our "best 11" that finished last season.

The answer to me is pretty clear.

De Neve replaces Beck. Tyjon replaces Dolan as a ten.Β

Interesting take.

Weaker at LB then imo. Tyjon COULD be sensational. But do you think he'll feature enough to be considered a Dolan replacement?

If he does, might be an inspired move.

Its obviously not a linear comparison for De Neve to replace anyone.

You could argue that Ribeiro replaced Beck. He came in when Beck got injured.Β

De Neve will play where Hedges played with Hedges where Dolan was so I suppose thats the closest comparison.

Tyjon is currently in the place of Weimann.

Either way, if Tyjon gives the output that Dolan or Weimann gave us then its an excellent breakthrough season. (And I suspect only season) But a huge ask.

Ash Phillips has rejoined Stoke and their fans are buzzing. This will take him to 2 and a half years of (almost certainly) regular first team football so will leave him in really good stead.

Wrexham are starting to get busy. They have signed Hardie and now Windass who both will give them added goals. They signed a Kiwi left back, Thomason as a squad player from Bolton and still seem strong on chasing O'Brien.

Irrespective of who Wrexham bring in, I'd put big money on them going down - Especially with their current manager.Β

Stoke do this every year and every year they flatter to deceiveΒ

You'd be massively out of pocket. They won't come close to going down. I'd say they're more likely to go up than down (to be clear I don't think they're very likely to go up either). I can practically guarantee that within 3 years they'll be finishing higher in the league than us, if not this season.

Timothee Nkada linked from Ligue 2 but two other clubs also mentioned so take it with a pinch of salt.

Second tier European leagues are common targets for us of late, so I certainly wouldn't rule it out. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that. There are certainly gems to be found.

Im not sure selling the best right back possibly in the league to a supposed direct rival (in terms of objectives) and replacing with someone they discarded seems wise. Think hes had injury problems and isnt that good.Β

Sure as a player wants to leave i dont see any benefit in keeping him , it rarely ends well. We can’t afford to not cash in and him leaving for nothing next yearΒ

Seems to be currently injured.

Sounds about right. What is the standard in Ligue 2 like?

Very decent stats for last season on the face of it - 17 goals from 31 games.Β

This season is absolutely massive for them this window will determine how their season will play out hardie and windass two good signings feel they need more thoughΒ

Ooer! Thanks for that delightful internal representation burned into my mind now.. 🀣

I couldn't care less about JE. I think he is a good manager, but I have no idea what he is like as a person. Same for VI - to be fair, certain Scottish historical figures apart, it isn't possible to break into management without having something about you, and a modicum of credibility.

Have we made progress this close season? Errrr....

VENKYS OUT!

They need a whole need starting 11. If they bring a lot more players in then they have a chance, but their current squad and manager don't stand a chance.Β

17 goals last season in League 2, looks quick on his YT highlights. More Ohashi than Gueye. 2 years left on his contract.Β

Perhaps not, mismanagement up until now really weaken our hand.

It was more about the choice of replacement. We have to find better than that which will involve paying a fee.

Agree to disagree...Just take a look at their squad...They may have money but they need to invest in it properly. They then need a decent manager...Phil Parkinson is not that man, you have to agree with me there...I don't think he lasts till Xmas...Then it will take more than Disney to employ the right man to take them forward.Β

Always thought djiksteele was a solid rb when I saw him , tbh I’d rather strengthen in more key areas like striker, right wing, don’t think it’s great to have rb as our best player. Need game changersΒ

That’s why they are best judged at the end of this window but you are right of the season were to start this week o reckon they could struggle but I think they will do more businessΒ

If they don’t start well they’ll sack him and bring someone far better in. They won’t fuck about.

As for their squad, they’ll be more than competitive when the season kicks off.Β

Because it's not fact, or at least you don't know the truth.

I doubt he tried to give Batth an new extension at the time he left.
