Hi All,

Looking to buy a signed Rovers shirt, and wanted to check to see if signatures are legit or fake.

Does anyone have the knowledge on signatures etc?

Thanks

Without a Certificate Of Authenticity from the club you are buying in good faith only.

A former work colleague of mine once collected a “signed match ball” from a Premier League club & he watched it be signed…by the folks in the office who each had mastered copying a player or two’s autographs!!!

His faith in human nature was destroyed…🤷‍♂️

Hw still got a “ signed match ball “. It just wasn’t signed by the players.  “ Buyer Beware “.

My youngest son got a signed Rovers ball a few years ago. It came with a piece of paper that deciphered all the squiggles.

Sorry can't help on the signatures Clitheroe, but @MaxPhythian collects and maybe able to help.

@MaxPhythian - I'm still looking for a signed shirt from the Kendall era, I know you have one 🤣

Not knocking @RoversClitheroe in any way but I've never understood the draw of having something that is signed unless it was signed to yourself personally.

I've a miniature ball signed by Henning Berg, Ian Pierce and Stuart Ripley. It means a lot to me because it is signed to me specifically. Best wishes from Ripley himself.

To each their own.

I worked in the industry of signed sports memorabilia for 5 years, be very cautious buying online by someone who isn't AFTAL (Autograph Fair Trade Association Ltd). A certificate of authenticity only means something if it's from a legitimate trader, otherwise any company can just print their own certificate to say they believe it's authentic.

If you are buying from a private individual, try to get some evidence of how they acquired the shirt and with a lot of signatures you can google what they should look like to compare yourself if you think it looks right.

Honestly it's a bit of a minefield and there are certainly a lot of bad actors out there so be careful!

Looks like B. Emerton bottom left to me.

Is it from that era?

Edit: Which would maybe make No. 20 top right David Thompson.

And No. 2 in that team (bottom right) was Lucas Neill. Googled his signature and it matches:
