... Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Where do we stand on offering a full contract? Is there anything available in his loan package to say we could potentially buy him or is it going to be a case of waving bye bye to him leaving a hole Quote
chaddyrovers Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago We have the option to buy him. I would exercise that option 1 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago He's on big wages apparently. I think this is a loan deal rushed through on deadline day with no desire to make it permanent. 2 Quote

Remember, Ismael said on a few occasions how he didn't want any loans. This way, we get a loan in without him looking daft. Lets see what happens, I don't believe they will make it permanent. Bardji, I bet they will. 1 Quote

We had a €4M option to make Zeefuik's loan permanent, there was never an intention to take that up either, sometimes clauses get added at the insistence of one party "just in case" 2 Quote

Id definitely buy him if we can make it work financially. Not the finished article but decent. 1 Quote

Based on the wages Birmingham have been paying since their new owners took control Rather than "big wages", maybe the term should have been "bigger wages than what Rovers currently pay" Edited 13 hours ago by KentExile 3 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hes been ok without standing out, hes had a mixture of good and poor games. I think its a bit early to decide and obviously would depend on the fee and wages included in any option to buy. 3 1 Quote

He was also essentially a stop gap to fill in for Baradji until he is fit, so assuming Baradji goes to plan, gets fit, and is good (lots of ifs), TGH is theoretically just backup Regardless of how Baradji does, TGH will be sent back at the end of his loan, Montgomery will be given a new contract (on considerably less than what TGH would require) and touted the solution to our midfield and right back cover issues with terms such as "academy minutes", "player pathways" etc being spouted Edited 13 hours ago by KentExile 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago ‘Different era’, ‘different times’. Indeed, I mean Zeefuik was a last minute loan for a club with no intention to achieve anything, whereas now… oh. 6 1 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I’d be hoping for player that is better myself. If we have any ambition at all . If we intend to hang around the bottom third of the table for ever he’d do. That’s his level. 1 Quote

TGH will replace him permanently Quote

TGH will replace him permanently Initially, probably Tavares, "our player", "has had a year to adapt" etc will be the terms for that one Based on pre/early season, Montgomery was earmarked for the role of cover this season, until the Bradford cup game prompted a rethink as to how ready Montgomery/Tyjon/Michalski are. TGH was then brought in after that, but promoting the youth will be revisited next summer Leaving next seasons midfield options (*) as Baradji, Tavares, Montgomery & Forshaw & one of Isaac Dunn/James Edmondson/Jake Garrett as the emergency option If Baradji doesn't work out or if Forshaws legs actually fall off then Rovers may look at another, who will be a cheap buy from overseas * not counting Cantwell, who I also expect to leave next summer, or Henriksen/Morishita, who will no doubt be seen as his replacement Edited 12 hours ago by KentExile Quote

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I look at it like this - is he better than the player he’s replacing ? Is he better than Travis ? - no, in my opinion. Is he better than Tronstad, even allowing for the fact Tronstad isn’t at his best ? - no, in my opinion. How you get up this league is replacing existing players with better players, not players that are worse. It can be done, even at Rovers. It’s looking like we’ve replaced Brittain with a better all round player Quote

TGH will replace him permanently Hes not the same type of player, nor is he close to the same quality. He lacks Tronstad's ability to screen the defence, you saw that at the weekend when he just totally switched off at one point, stood still and a runner just ran off him so easily. He also isnt as good on the ball. And then who will replace TGH? Quote

MarkBRFC Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Just now, chaddyrovers said: Yes Mark, you say the same thing every year No I don't. Predicted we will be in trouble this year, which we are. Never said that last season, thought our midfield of Travis and Tronstad was a strong pairing. Seen nothing to suggest two from TGH, Baradji, Taveres & Montgomery would be anywhere near good enough for this level next season, and wouldn't be great for the league below. Appreciate there is plenty of time before that though. Quote
