... Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago One thing about these interviews with people who predominantly have worked behind the scenes of the main stage is that when they come to the fore, as we saw with David Lowe, is that they are so intrinsic with the club, because they don't have that media focus all the time, no weekly interviews etc, everything they say is from the soul, about the Club. Does somewhat warm the heart knowing there are still people left in some capacity still wanting the best for our club. I'd actually like him as the manager although I don't think that's what he wants. To know that someone on the touchline values his role and is there to compete weekly for the love of the badge. This was the best interview I've seen in a while come out the club since Lowes last win 4 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I thought he was under valued as a player here. He never gave less than 100% and he was skilful with it. He’d be one of the first names on the team sheet if he was playing today. 3 1 Quote
Leonard Venkhater Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago What a great interview. So reassuring too! He represents the values I always associated with the old Rovers. But I can't help wondering what the hell he must be thinking, when shysters like Gestede keep walking through the door! 1 1 Quote

arbitro Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He has shown terrific humility in that interview, a welcome change from the previous incumbent. He comes across as a really decent person and the type of coach players would want to play for. If he doesn't get the job I think it's imperative he is kept on. His understanding of the local area and people is an absolute asset. 3 1 Quote
alexanders Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Would be good if he could be part of interview process on the new manager Anyone know if he has been involves earlier? Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Just watched it in full. What a good interview. Ismael: "We can't compete because of the injuries". DJ "We've got a great group of lads and Im sure no matter who I pick they'll do a good job." Chalk and cheese. I also particularly liked his acknowledgement of the sacrifice the supporters make when they get up at 04.30 to trail down to places like Norwich and Ipswich for a 12.30 kick off. Always a bit of hope left when you've still got a few guys like DJ and Scott Wharton around. 1 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Different circumstances though. One is a manager doing a poor job desperate to deflect questioning away from himself. We did have injuries so using them to excuse himself was possible. The other has taken one game (and one against a team that wasnt competitive) with the majority of his squad fit and knows he wont be in the role long. No need for self preservation. 1 1 Quote

Really dont know why you're so keen to belittle Johnson at every opportunity. He is and has been a great servant for the Club, very much in the Tony Parkes mould. Quote

It's also his insistence that the world will cave in if Johnson happens to be left in charge for more than a few games. He's a good servant and so far he's never let us down. Of course if we suddenly lose 5-0 to Norwich tomorrow the perspective all changes. Quote

Ismael was using excuses as an act of self preservation, like desperate managers always do. Why would Johnson bemoan injuries in the same way when the majority have cleared up, hes not our permanent manager trying to keep his job, hes only managed one game and we won? He has been a good servant and I hope he does well in the mean time and stays at the club once a manager is appointed. No comparison to Tony Parkes obviously. If you think I have a negative opinion of him or am keen to belittle him because I dont think it makes any sense whatsoever to potentially speed up or slow down the urgent matter of appointing a manager, based on each individual result he gets in this interim period, then you arent listening to my point. It isnt a reflection of Johnson, I felt the same with Lowe. It also doesnt mean that I want us to rush into getting someone for the sake of having someone permanent or getting someone crap. Quote

Was more about the person and not about the role he's dropped into. We need people like him around that are all for the club. Quote
