  1. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65502322 The EFL has confirmed a new Sky Sports deal which will see both a significant increase in income for clubs and matches shown. Aside from the slight issue that I think we last won a Sky featured match back in the 90s, a seemingly good deal?
  2. Excellent achievement for Gary Bowyer in his first season in Scottish football as manager of Dundee FC. Champions after beating Owen Coyle’s Queens Park in the title decider tonight in an 8 goal thriller. He’ll be pitting his wits against Celtic and Rangers next season. Well done, Gary.
  3. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-united-phil-jones-tv-29832651 It must be a slow news day! Rovers have made a ‘cameo’ in the TV series Succession. Rovers v Rangers in the 2010 at the Sydney Festival of Football 😄 (Apologies if this has already been posted)
  4. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/28af1308-e416-11ed-92e1-c61d17e3691f?shareToken=53d7abbdbbea4dcd2bf7370255901163
  5. Hi, I’m after a bit of help here. I bought a 125 year anniversary shirt at auction a couple of years back that was signed by a multitude of legends and players from that season but have absolutely no idea where to start with identifying them. I’m looking to move it on if I’m able to authenticate them as I’ve got 2 more and now need to free some space (for more shirts). I’ve added a few photos of the signatures and any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Sadly Bill Bancroft has passed away. He was he Rovers Chairman during some really difficult times and like many from the era sacrificed a lot for the good of the club and in many ways kept the club going helping to give us what we have today. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/april/11/former-chairman-sadly-passes-away/
  7. Great news I'm hearing on the grapevine that Rovers owners Venkys are close to a deal to sell the club. Talks have been ongoing for several months and an agreement was finalised this week with an announcement scheduled for Monday morning. The deal includes all the debt and the chicken farming conglomerate will cut all ties with the club after more than 12 tumultuous years. The possible bad news The buyers for Rovers are Butterball, one of America’s most iconic brands and best known for its turkeys and turkey products, which it sells around the world. Butterball is headquartered in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. Butterball, led by CEO Kerry Doughty who has connections in the area Lancashire going back to the 1850s, are said to keen to follow other US corporate investors into the English football market and see Rovers as the ideal club to further their ambitions. So there it is. That's all I know and while many Rovers fans will be greatly relieved to see the departure of the Indian owners there will be some trepidation at the prospect of another unknown foreign buyer taking over. I would say however that the information comes from a reliable sauce
  8. I learnt at the weekend that Rovers had an offer accepted for Emile Heskey in early 1994 when he was just 16 and had yet to make his first-team debut for Leicester City If that's common knowledge I'll hold my hands up and admit I'd never heard it before but it was certainly news to me
  9. The BRFCS POTM for March is Lewis Travis...congratulations to the skipper for a fine month 👏👏👏 MOTM template .mp4
  10. We have one long-sleeve retro shirt in XL (44”) with a red number 8 on the reverse available. The shirt is a slight-second - see attached photos - some minor plucking at the bottom of the white half on the front. We used it to test how easy it was to attach a number with a heat press & as it proved easy…we thought we’d make it available. The shirts originally retailed at £25, the number cost £9…but it’s a slight second…so anyone want it for say £15 ? First come first served in the replies below…👍🏻⚪️🔵
  11. As part of the BRFCS sponsorship package for Saffron Jordan, we have secured a matchworn shirt from Millie Chandarana #17 - signed by the squad & complete with a certificate of authenticity from Rovers. We would like it to go to a good home where it might be appreciated &/or used to raise funds for a good cause for instance. We were thinking it would be great to donate it to a junior football club in the East Lancashire area - that operates a girls team, for obvious reasons - & the club can then choose to frame & display it or raffle it off to raise money etc. If you are involved in junior football in Lancashire, fit the bill as described & would like to be considered for the shirt - please reply to this post below with contact details [Name, Club Name, Location, email address]. If we get multiple requests, we will draw out a lucky winner. Entries by 31/3/23 please.
  12. https://www.footballinsider247.com/blackburn-rovers-on-hunt-for-new-recruitment-guru-sources/ Wonder if there is any truth in this?
  13. Too little too late for most? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/7ee9cb52-b3c7-11ed-bc64-f71663a88018?shareToken=2c904f4efe72cbbd3b785a2b3f0f33ed
  14. He is Legend and I will always remember.. RIP John Motson
  15. Forum members have been voting for their MOTM supported by Rovers Trust, on the site all season - we thought you might be interested in the current leaderboard after last night's fixture with Blackpool...
  16. https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/charity-football-match-for-former-rovers-legends/369 A great event for three wonderful causes close to the heart of all Rovers fans... BRFCS is proudly sponsoring the match ball on behalf of us all... FURTHER DETAILS TICKETS
  17. The Greatest Rover of them all and England Captain Bob Crompton has a new Book published about his life and exploits.Well done to Harry Berry on a very worthy subject..another one for the Rovers History Book shelf. This Rovers man is another worthy of a Statue at Ewood! https://www.pitchpublishing.co.uk/shop/rovers-till-i-die
  18. Anyone know about this, when it first came to light and what it actually means for our club? I've read the mail from them but it isn't really specific As per usual there's silence from the club. I just get the feeling if this was in anyway positive for BRFC and the fans, Swag would be all over it.
  19. We have great news for all those folks who saw the photos of our 60’s style retro shirts being posted on here last year & thought… ”Why on earth didn’t I order one when they were on sale ?” 😫 We are delighted to confirm that our supplier Ribero can accommodate another order and the really exciting news is that this time, not only are we offering LONG-SLEEVED shirts…we are also offering SHORT-SLEEVED versions - just in time for your spring/summer holidays ! There’s more…not only are all of these available in ADULT sizes…they are now also available in JUNIOR sizes. Just as before, we will take orders for a fixed period (until 1st March at 10pm) & then much like the transfer window…the shirt sale window will slam shut - so place your order in good time to avoid FOMO (I think that’s what the kids call it…). Pricing All shirts will once again be £25 (irrespective of size/sleeve option ordered) plus the relevant postage & packing. For UK addresses this will be £5 per shirt. For Europe addresses this will be £10 per shirt. For RoW addresses this will cost £15 per shirt. How do I order ? Click here to order Please complete the form together, with your credit card details before 10pm on Wednesday 1st March 2023. In the event that the production run is cancelled (for whatever reason) then full refunds will of course be provided & all prospective purchasers will be advised accordingly. When can I expect delivery ? We are looking to place our order with Ribero on Monday 6th March - Ribero have advised that manufacture and delivery to us will take approximately 6-8 weeks from this point. Realistically therefore we are looking at posting out some time from the beginning of May. Posting out the first order last year coincided quite beautifully with industrial action in the Royal Mail 🤷‍♂️ but we did successfully manage to post every shirt within a week of receipt & whilst clearly no responsibility can be taken in the event of delays beyond our control e.g. container ships becoming stuck in the Suez Canal… Putin declaring war on the UK, that sort of thing…we will do our very best for you… We will of course keep everyone advised of progress via this forum thread. By buying one of these shirts, it demonstrates that the wearer has a finely-tuned sense of what constitutes a classic football design & wishes to pay homage to a different era in Rovers history; and of course It helps us to keep BRFCS running..! Here's that short-sleeve design in use at Ewood... Sizing The shirts will be available in the following JUNIOR & ADULT sizes - the seam to seam measurement “Chest (B)” is probably the most useful to identify which is the right one for you. Please note that the size chart is in INCHES.
  20. Hi all, I have been asked by a few of my exiled ex QEGS friends to " represent " them at David's funeral, which I hope to attend. I thought I should type up a list to enclose in the card I shall be giving to the family , giving their names. Should any posters on this board wish me to do the same, can you please e-mail me below. Please feel free to forward my details on to any of your contacts and I'll happily do likewise and add them to the list. A note of your years at QEGS, ie ( 1988 - 1995 ) would be a helpful touch, and perhaps a maiden name, if appropriate. memphis555@hotmail.com
  21. This is a personal thread, so please bear with me ... I was gutted to hear the news yesterday of the passing of David Hopkinson, my former 6th Form Tutor at QEGS, Blackburn, and a fine " Rovers " man. He was 72 .. Born in the Borough, he studied in Swansea, returned to his home town and served the school as teacher, house master, tutor, head of junior school and then clerk to the governors for 46 years. He was also involved with the Old Blacks AFC, as a fine left back. Without " Mr H ", I would never have obtained a place at University ... I know there are quite a few ex-QEGS posters on here so I thought I'd share this news, there is more information and a suitable place to pay tributes here ... Tribute to David Hopkinson, 1951 - 2023 (muchloved.com)
  22. I guess this subject deserves its own thread now, can't see it has one. Lancs live reporting that the deadline to submit papers for the appeal is 4pm, with a decision hoped this week for the players' sake. Apparently the appeal will be considered by the EFL board, comprised of different people from those who were involved last week. Fingers, toes & everything else crossed that we get this over the line...
  23. This may be behind their paywall so might not work for all? The story about Mam City breaking FFP and Premier League rules 100 times or more must also be reported elsewhere. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/f2f9e8b8-a659-11ed-9311-522a2d54b6fd?shareToken=a2cc879f9afb210e18c605bd3022a5c9 https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/b05fb37e-a5fb-11ed-9311-522a2d54b6fd?shareToken=8ebff75193720a60c8b35c336ac4c6d4
