  1. Ah - we're not going to get into the champions league, but if were to have done - bloody hell, GO FOR IT. We might never get another chance. What's all this talk about build for it? We're not Man Utd or Liverpool, we're Blackburn Rovers.
  2. I've been trying to tell people that Here It's obvious that clubs need Tv, but that's not what this thread is about.
  3. "Dan Johnson, a spokesman for the Premier League, said: "There are no rights for the general bar trade to show football games at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. It's illegal and if people transgress we will take them to court." He said the two court rulings in Bolton were "rogue decisions" and just because a licensees had paid a foreign broadcaster for a signal it did not give them the copyright to the games. "It's a breach of copyright. If those rights have been sold abroad then they are only for use in that region." Mr Johnson added that there was lots of anecdotal evidence which showed attendeces at football games fell when the matches were being shown in pubs and that it also led to a fall in the number of people playing football on a Saturday. "
  4. bskyb own the copyright.
  5. You're wrong EIT. There most certainly is a crime being perurtrated here. A couple of people involved with BRISA have been making enquiries to the relevant people who deal with the issues of illegal tv broadcasting. I'm not going to divulge my sources on here, but a couple of quotes: "We have spoken this week, he confirmed that to show the broadcasts in pubs was a definite copyright infringement and could result in prosecution" "He said they were isolated cases [the cases in Bolton being discussed here] which were let off on a technicality and had no bearing on the overall issue that showing these games in local pubs broke copyright as they could only be viewed live in the middle east not the UK." "He said the cases in Bolton were prosecution failed were isolated cases and they had previous prosecutions in that area and would do so in the future. He likened the issue to "because your neighbour gets off a motoring offence on a technicality it didn't mean that you could expect the same if you broke the law."
  6. The smilies were for the "can't justify the £30 ticket fee".
  7. Rovers losing even more fans would see the end of them as a prem club. It wouldn't affect many other teams because they still fill their ground. The attendance situation at Ewood must be so depressing to the club already. The fact that all clubs will still fill their ground means that wages wont drop either. Let's not get carried away, illegal tv affects rovers more than most. Agree that football needs to change, but can't see illegal broadcasting, or even legal broadcasting helps.
  8. So why do gates fall when games are televised - they don't rise do they? Televising all the rovers games is a dead cert for reducing gates. I can't see it any other way.
  9. You surprise me there MB. If all rovers games were to be shown live on Sky next season, how do you think that would affect ST sales. Do you reckon we would sell more, or fewer season tickets?
  10. Televising all rovers games would inflict serious financial harm to the club. It could do no good whatsoever in the opinion of people involved in the game. Don't get too worked up about those rulings either, they are just a couple of blips. The fact is that Sky hold the copyright to the games and it's illegal for the pubs to show them. Pubs all over the country are being prosecuted successfully.
  11. Now then, the massed bands of the Irish and Welsh guards had their own programme of such classics as: Triumph of right The arcadians GIGI can can charm of the valse The pyjama game Swedish rhapsody and finally cockleshell heroes! Of course, that was only the pre match entertainment. The half time treat was still to come. Half time saw us entrtained by a marching display from the: Grenadier guards coldstream guards [was up there last summer, beautiful place] scots guards irish guards welsh guards. Now that's what I call entertainment. Anyone want to tell us about the game?
  12. Rovers squad at Wembley. Strange one for the I'm in heaven forum, considering we lost 3-0 to Wolves, Dougan handed in a transfer request on th eve of the game, Stories of fans never returning to Ewood after supposedly dubious ticket sales by the rovers players and of course Dave Whelan breaking his leg - an event which effectively ended his playing career. I remember virtually nothing of this game. In those days though, the F.A. cup final was one of the biggest days in world football. To see Ronnie Clayton lead out the Rovers is something that earns that game it's place in the I'm in heaven forum. Those blue and white halves looked magnificent in the May sunshine. Anyhow, I'll leave the match reports and the truth behind all those stories of black marketeering to the people who do remember the events. A couple of years ago, a neighbour gave me a programme from the cup final. Saturday May 7th, cost one shilling. To everyone who can't deal in real money, that's about 5 pence. However, with the programme came ---------- a daily express song sheet! A programme for community singing. Rovers want to create more atmosphere at Ewood? There's the answer, get 'em out of the pubs and down to Ewood at 2pm for some good old community singing. Here we go: song 1 - of course, god save the queen. 2 Fall in and follow me. 3 Don't dilly Dally 4 Heart of Oak 5 Soldiers of the queen 6 Keep right on to the end of the road 7 keep the home fires burning 8 Early one morning 9 Land of hope and glory 10 The happy wanderer 11 The football chorus 12 Now is the hour 13 She's a lassie from Lancashire 14 John Browns body 15 She'll be comin round the mountain 16 A roving 17 Daisy bell 18 cockles and mussels 19 My bonnie 20 Clementine 21 Auld Lang Syne and of course, if you're still breathing -----22 Abide with me. Blackburn End Drummers - eat your heart out. Of course, all that was preceded by the massed bands of the Irish and Welsh guards.
  13. Bit different losing 1-0 instead of 4-1 as well. Everton were flying when we played 'em.
  14. Remember all the moaning about rovers losing 1-0 to ten men Everton [mentioned in this title]? What would rovers fans be saying if we were west ham - they have shipped 4 goals to date, against 10 men Chelsea.
  15. If anyone hasn't seen Bellamy's first goal - it's absolutely brilliant. His second one's not bad either. Better than anything Newcastle have. Souey, what were you doing?
  16. Sadly, I think the evidence says that those people giving up their season tickets do stop attending. Every year some people say the decline in ST numbers wont affect the gates, but they always do.
  17. An article that might bring a touch of reality to rovers fans.
  18. Great preview Tango. Thanks for all the homework.
  19. Actually, I did think Kuqi made a difference last night, apart from the goal. For a change, he managed to get one or two flick ons and that made a difference. Before that, we never managed to turn Wigan around, after Kuqi's appearance, they started to run towards their own goal. They weren't happy with that.
  20. Yep, he did shove Neill into Filan.
  21. I'm sure they do SAR, and I reckon everyone supports the government in trying to reduce the harmful effects of that - just as the vast majority of people support the ban on smoking in public places. Where's the problem?
  22. Where do you suggest that people who don't want to inhale someone elses smoke, work?
