    Jeffers Signs

Francis Jeffers has today put pen to paper on a two year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, at Ewood Park. The deal, according to John Williams, is heavily incenticised. Read the Blackburn Rovers fans reactions to the news on the brfcs messageboard
  3. Jack Charlton explaining how Alf Ramsey came to pick him at centre half:- Jack told how Alf punctured his pride and joy at his unexpected selection for England. "I asked him 'Why me?' and he said 'Well, Jack, hay 'ave a pattern of play in may mind, an' hay pick the happropriate players to fit into that pattern. Hay don't always necessarily pick the best players [a pause] Jack'." It [the plan]worked. With Sven, it seems he always went the other way. He picked his best players then tried to develop a system around them. He was still trying on Saturday night.
  4. You use last seasons card, Abbs.
  5. Why is England's stay undeserved? They haven't played well, but they have been better than their opponents. So why undeserved?
  6. You could argue that the cards were, in the main, deserved. What happened to the referrees of yesteryear, who would have got both captains together early on and dished out the law? They're just a bunch of card flashers today. Anyone could do what that ref did yesterday.
  7. Alf Ramsey said that he might not pick his best players, but he would pick his best team. Eriksson has a squad of exceptionally talented players, but he still can't get a good team together.
  8. Worthy of messageboard gold, I think.
  9. I'm saying the foul on Viduka WAS a penalty Dave. How did the ref and lino miss it.
  10. As clear a penalty on Viduka as I've ever seen. Graham Poll, eh?

    Bellamy Leaves

Craig Bellamy has now officially signed for Liverpool. The news is a big blow for rovers fans who only saw Bellamy at Ewood for one season. Bellamy had only good things to say about the Ewood Park club. "My time at the club was amongst the happiest of my career and I have a lot to thank the club for" were Bellamy's words. Rovers fans will be looking for the club to bring in quality replacements up front, now that three strikers have left the club since the end of last season. 12. They're still there, under - fixtures.
  13. Arsenal v Aston Villa Bolton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur Chelsea v Manchester City Everton v Watford Manchester United v Fulham Newcastle United v Wigan Athletic Portsmouth v Blackburn Rovers Reading v Middlesbrough Sheffield United v Liverpool West Ham United v Charlton Athletic
  14. Cruciate ligament injury and he will be out for 5 months.
  15. Robinson has looked very poor to me, all tournament. He's flapping at any cross and just to look at him, he seems full of fear.
  16. That's what I was trying to say Dave. Modern day strikers are mobile powerful and deadly. Crouch is none of these. When did you see any top international side play with a crouch-type striker? Argentina, Brazil, Italy - no-one does. It's not the way to go. Did anyone see the header at the far post, from Cole's cross? Crouch headed it straight back out to the wing. He is in no way mobile, doesn't head the ball with any power, hasn't got a powerful shot. He could never get on the end of a through ball. He's got a nice touch for someone who's 6ft 7ins tall - big deal. The biggest problem is though, that any side with a really tall centre forward always play the long ball out of defence. Look at Niall Quinn - good player, but the teams he played in all played the long ball game. Not intentionally, it's just too easy for defenders under pressure to hoof it up field. Not my idea of how to play football.
  17. Who needs a striker that can't run? Form a queue please.
  18. Blackburn Rovers have reluctantly given Craig Bellamy permission to discuss a move to Liverpool. It appears as though a get out clause did in fact exist, despite the player specifically denying it's existence. You can follow the developments on the BRFCS.com messageboard HERE
  19. Agreed. Sorry folks.
  20. reported earlier in the transfer rumour thread.
  21. Crouch is in the England side because of his height, similar to Kuqi being in the rovers squad because he gives us something different. The strange thing is, that having said that, he can't head the ball well. Take away his height and he'd be nowhere the England squad.
  22. Great piece rover groo. There are still many rovers fans alive who saw Eddie Crossan in the blue and white halves - unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I do remember the stories about him being a very skillful player. He is remembered very fondly by rovers fans who saw him play. Apparently, he was one of the very best. Have you thought about contacting the lancashire evening telegraph, or the lancashire evening post, with you memories of him. I'd be amazed if they weren't interested.
  23. To get the best out of it, get yourself as big a screen as possible [say 42" min, if you can] and pay as much as you can afford - then it's superb. I believe that projectors are awesome.
