  1. Nothings really changed with these owners from the day they took over. They’ve always been of the opinion that they don’t need to spend on transfer fees and that bringing through youth players can be successful. 15 years that’s been their thinking. They’ve always believed that it’s for the managers/CEO’s to back and support that ideal, rather than for the owners to actually back the manager. They’re set in stone and nothing is going to change their minds. In fact, if anything I reckon their views have hardened in that respect. We’re stuck with it - and them.
  2. The full stories we get now regarding players only being offered contract extensions on the same terms can only come from the players. They’re telling us now what’s happening at the club.
  3. It’s clear now that the overall wage bill is being cut. I don’t expect replacements for these players being offered the same as those leaving, they will be offered less. Either the club is in a worsened financial position, or the owners and probably Pasha as well don’t know what they’re doing. Probably both.
  4. There are thousands feeling like you Bohinen. Most of them just walked away and won’t come back. Even for me it doesn’t feel like the club I supported for over fifty years. I went from watching Ronnie Clayton running out with the ball under his arm, to the Stewards invading the fans in the Darwen end to tackle the anti Kean protestors. If there was a turning point that was it. I just felt everything had changed. It wasn’t the club I’d grown up with.
  5. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if that were true. At a proper football club the manager would be paid solely for results or league position. This is just more proof that there really is no real ambition to improve anything, any more.
  6. why not just write it the right way round? Make it easier for some of us (me included. I didn’t realise it was Carl). 😀
  7. Wharton has something that only the absolute top players have. Vision. It’s why he doesn’t need two touches. You can’t coach that.
  8. Gueye is such a poor header of a ball. Being big or tall means nothing.
  9. Very good interview. It’s quite obvious that they are both of the same views at the moment. They believe rovers transfer dealings, both in and out, for a few seasons now have been poor and is a major reason for concern. “A couple of the new boys didn’t turn up”. Basically they believe the club is heading into dangerous waters. I 100% go along with them.
  10. I would say at least half of those lads out there looked like they were well below championship standard. The squad as a whole lacks creativity and goal scoring ability. Some posters argue for the inclusion of Cantwell but creativity has to come from various channels, not just one individual. We don’t have creativity anywhere. It’s a real worry. Just bear in mind though that we’re right not to spend cash on players because it doesn’t guarantee success. 😏 Tossers.
  11. Of course they knew 47er. Suhail isnt going to come out and say the owners saw the colour of the money and pocketed the cash is he!
  12. Those bills are covered week in week out before unseen transfer windfalls.
  13. That’s a cop out. We’ve just sold a number of players for quite a few millions of pounds (as GM said to them). That cash wasn’t anticipated. IMO it hasn’t gone back into the club and it won’t be going back into the club. It can only have gone to one other place.
  14. So if the owners are only going to put in roughly the same amount of money year after year (which seems to be the case), is it fair to say that money from player sales goes back to them? If it’s not being reinvested into players where else is it going?
  15. As regards investing in better players, or reinvesting money from player sales to try to improve the squad, the quote below from the minutes tells us what has been right in front of our eyes for most of their tenure. It isn’t going to happen. The owners apparently don’t believe that’s necessary. It’s what they said when they bought the club. I don’t for one minute the owners believe that, it’s just a narrative that suits them. GM asked whether, if the club generates funds by player sales, why the board or SS As the clubs trusted adviser can’t come to some arrangement with the owners of crystal clarity of a said % of those funds being immediately available to strengthen the squad, GM Asked had that question been asked? SS replied that, there was no such general agreement in place, or had the question been asked of the owners, though there had been reinvestment in the playing squad from player sales, such as when the club re-invested 40% of Sammie Szmodics’ transfer fee. GM Stated this was a small proportion given the club also sold Gallagher, Kaminski, Wharton amongst others in the same year, whilst they received payments for Raya and others, and this seems low investment in terms of money received. SS Stated that spending more money or increasing wages don’t guarantee a jump in league position
  16. I think you’re dead right. There has been no ambition at this club for many years now. From the owners their whole approach seems to be “here’s some cash, it’s all you’re getting and we don’t care what you do with it” .
  17. If there’s no agreement over the minutes with the club, make your case to the LT?
  18. Hardly the point though, is it? If it was just the right back you could argue the point - especially if there was money made available to the manager to replace him. when the club are selling absolutely anyone and everyone who can bring in a fee, and investing virtually nothing back into the squad it IS a problem.
  19. A good number of years ago we did a “rovers greatest ever team” discussion and vote. Lots of posters took part, arguing for their favourite player in each position. It would be interesting to read that again but it might not be on here now.
  20. and Venkys couldn’t get rid of him soon enough😏
