  1. Part time football Bryan. These lads can make a lot of money working and playing part time. Probably more than they can playing as a full time professional in the lower leagues.
  2. Anyone still arguing that Messi wouldn't be as good in the Prem? He was superb tonight and showed Ronaldo how to influence a game.
  3. It would be a big, big mistake as far as the majority of fans were concerned Aggy. I'm pretty certain about that.
  4. Mods - maybe we could have a poll on whether Barton would be welcome at Ewood?
  5. Spot on in every way Fife. [bet that's a surprise for you].
  6. His main intention was to wipe the player out? That's a red card then for violent conduct.
  7. Hugely overrated by many. In fact, he's pretty ordinary.
  8. Unless I and others were wrong in thinking that Benni was kept back from the Liverpool game simply to keep him fit for this weekend. Maybe there's more to it than that.
  9. It's just one of those things that sticks in my mind Theno. I'm sure there was a competition organised, whereby some of the players had the speed of their shots measured. Now it could be that someone like Peter Lorrimer did win it, but I'm also fairly sure that Mike Harrison took part. - and come on, it was the 60's - not the 1800's. Jeez, they probably had speed camera's even then!
  10. Wasn't he measured as having the hardest shot in football?
  11. Oh sorry, - that is the story. - although, apparently she's a lot younger than him and is quite a looker. Still in touch with RC as well, I believe.
  12. Ever been on the ground tour and heard Ronnie Clayton telling the story of Mike Harrison marrying a gorgeous Brazilian bird?
  13. That's sad to hear. I remember Joe as a [as you said] very small, "jinking" [for want of a better word] player. You're right Tyrone, he never really made the best of his days at Ewood, but he is a player I'll never forget. From Joe Haverty's full Wiki entry.: "In 2000 he was inaugurated into the Football Association of Ireland's Hall of Fame. He died on 7 February 2009, in London, aged 72." Real shame. Best wishes to his family.
  14. This let's your whole post down though, doesn't it. We had Jack Walker's money then. John Williams has said himself many times that if we went down again it would be a financial disaster and it could very well be a long time before we got back again - if ever.
  15. Good post roversmum - and I reckon that's how a lot of feel. When Sam was at Bolton, I slagged the style of football off, like pretty much every other rovers fan did. That was then, though. Now is now. I thought Sam was the right man for Rovers in the summer, for the simple reason that after Hughes's tenancy, we needed someone who would make, or keep us, hard to beat. What's the point in holding grudges? If he's the right man, he's the right man - no matter where he's been previously. As for style of football, well, we'll have to wait and see. JW said on the radio this morning that he would love the neat, slick passing game, that wins matches. However, he's never met a fan yet that likes to lose 4-3. He said "results, that's what it's all about". And he's right. It's a strange stance by Waggy. Firstly he stands by Ince who was crap, simply because he was the manager and all rovers fans should back the manager - then he's not going again because of who the manager is!
  16. Well worth looking at! I've posted this info before, but for anyone who hasn't seen these, they are well worth looking at. Pathe news. Simply type "Blackburn rovers" into the search bar, then you'll get a list of games from the past. Select the game you want to see, [i've got them all downloaded onto my computer], click on "download Video", then go through a short, easy procedure, which will result in Pathe news instantly emailing a link to the video, to you. The previews are free and I believe you can get a better quality, full video if you're prepared to pay for them. The previews bring back real memories of football as it should be today. There are clips of Douglas, Dobing, Dougan and many more on there. p.s. If I knew how to put those previews directly on here, I would. Anyone know how this can be done? EDIT: Here's one video. I'm not sure how long the link will be available for: Blackburn v Burnley. 6th round FA Cup 1952. Here's another: Spurs v Rovers. FA Cup 5th round 1960. The last time we got to the cup final. There are plenty more rovers videos on the Pathe news site
  17. OK, the rest doesn't say anything really. McEvely's CV to date leaves Andy Taylor standing. England U21s and Premier league experience. One final question, how do you know this about Taylor?
  18. I don't think you know anything about Andy Taylor Rover6. In fact a challenge to you - I'm still waiting for an answer to the last time you were championing Taylor - Here.

    Rovers Songs

Shouldn't this be in the "songs" section?
  20. Apologies if this has already been discussed: Barton charged by FA.
  21. Had the famous fish pie at the Inn at Whitewell, last week. Very good.
  22. I have a feeling that the Eurosport football that Tris was watching, wasn't in true HD. I think it could be upscaled.
  23. Probably the best channel PQ wise, is Rush HD. The content isn't all my kind of choice, but some of it is fantastic. The free-fall stuff off Angel Falls, is brilliant.
