As a defensive midfielder, he was as good as anyone in League One and a match for many in the second tier. He could read a game, anticipate problems, stop the threats. Yes I did say that. Fitness does depend on how hard someone works, no? At his age he may need to be prepared to do a bit extra. Mcallister said in an interview he was training when others weren't. At 32/33, I am sure Whittingham will be fine in League 1

Shoot the runner! Could have been the dream league 1 midfield. Jesus even Akpan. Maybe Tomlinson can do similar. It makes me wonder where Evans will fit in. I would like him to stay, he would be a very good League 1 player, if he stays fit. I think his injury record may actually scare clubs off.

What if he won 7 and drew 3? We could be top of the league. You can't be that rigid. Where we are in the table and performances need to come into it too. Agree it's too early to discuss extensions. Fair enough, some good suggestions. Personally though, I would see Mowbray as a safer pair of hands than any of them, plus he has had 3 months already to assess our squad, which is invaluable.
