  1. I said 14th - 16th. Having seen all the teams in the division that was a conservative estimate. This isn't the Prem. There aren't 5 or 6 teams that are far better than anyone else. If we could see games out we'd be a lot higher. That isn't fine margins, that's a huge flaw in the team.
  2. Ironic. You were a boycotter until Degsy Shaw phoned you up.
  3. Farke or the bloke who manages Huddersfield. They were found somewhere and came to the Championship. Can you imagine our owners finding anyone like that?
  4. That's us. Hoof to Graham and hope for the best. At least in the 80's they played with proper wingers.
  5. Thanks. Maybe we'd be better with full backs who can defend and getting wingers/wide men who can cross and create. Maybe that's not complicated enough for Mogga.
  6. Rotherham - poor defending cost us Sheff Weds - good win Boro - Couldn't hold on or score again against a side with 10 men for an hour. Not a good side either. Boro have won 1 of their last 8 at home. Preston and Wigan - Familiar collapse in both. Embarrassing. Brum - defensive error and the familiar collapse Norwich - good performance but ultimately a defensive mistake cost us - again. Leeds - Familiar collapse In a very tight league we are the wrong side of these fine margins on a regular basis.
  7. Good post. I'm amazed Biz agrees with it though as he's been arguing against nearly every part of it for the last few weeks Weird. Agree on the defenders. I said a few weeks ago every one of them, including the keeper, has a mistake in them, mainly due to lack of experience. Disagree on Nyambe being a dreadful full back one-on-one, he's actually very good. His problem is that his starting point is so narrow that the winger doesn't have to beat him, they just have to put the cross in. Whether he's been told to stay narrow is another matter. Bell is an awful defender full stop. I prefer Williams but he's now got a fatal mistake in him every game. It also comes down to tactics. Mowbray wants attacking full backs like Bell and Nyambe because he doesn't have wingers. The 'wide forwards' come inside and open the space for our full backs to get down the wing. Problem is Bell and Nyambe can both travel with the ball but their delivery is poor. Ultimately the tactic doesn't work. As they are both attacking full backs their defensive work/positioning leaves something to be desired so we lose out defensively too. Pulis, who you mentioned, does have better defenders but they are also better coached. Anyone with half a brain can see the BB money was a massive aberration by someone at the club. That £7m could have got at least one good defender.
  8. We have a Championship team with Championship players in a competitive Championship division. We don't have the best players, no, but we don't have the worst either. There isn't much difference between 6th and 20th. We are closer to 20th because we make the same mistakes week after week. Yesterday was the epitome of the managers inability to make us more resilient.
  9. Ha! I'm not sure anyone is seriously suggesting we sack him ( at least I hope not) but the team makes the same mistakes nearly every week. There will come a point when the chicken overlords ask whether they are getting value for their £10m summer 'investment'. The Venksters also want promotion. Mowbrays inability to rectify the problems that have plagued us all season will come back to bite him at some point.
  10. And I think that's the problem. Mowbray is still trotting out the 'lessons to be learned' schtick even though they seemingly never are. It's either a failure of coaching or a failure of personnel on the pitch. Only Mowbray can sort that out. A potentially good season is being ruined, ironically, by the failure to learn lessons. I've seen every team in this league now and only Sheff Utd properly outclassed us (and perhaps Derby). Every other team has been beatable but we just gift them points because we can't defend the most basic of crosses and we can't keep the ball for a few minutes to see out a game. It's amateur hour nearly every week. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/december/lessons-to-be-learned---mowbray/
  11. He had a £7m reserve striker to buy. He can't be expected to buy a defender. Expectations need reigning in? Anyway, he wanted Bauer, who is hardly a 'top-class centre-half' as far as I can see.
  12. Venky's don't do the defending in the last 20 minutes and having £7m to spend in a 19 year old sub is surely a good thing for Mowbray?
  13. It's not the first time he's made it incredibly easy for the winger or whoever to get the cross in. His attempt to stop the cross for the Rotherham goal at Ewood was one of the most limp attempts I've even seen. He just dangled a leg. The forward just headed it in from 6 yards pretty much unchallenged. It summed up our defending. #TotalCommitment
  14. Oh Donald! Since when were Wigan and PNE the best teams in the league?
  15. I will always find the time to search for truth and honesty? You lied, you got busted. We can all learn the lessons and move on? Maybe Coyle should have got more time? Truthfinder General
  16. I wonder if Mogga will break up the Mulgrew/Lenihan partnership in January with the acquisition of an experienced proper Centre Half - only 5 teams have now conceded more goals than us. Which one to drop? I don't think Mulgrew is a particularly good defender and he's a liability on crosses IMO but he's scored as many goals (7) as our main striker. Lenihan is the better bet long term and probably more suited to being a Championship CH but he still suffers from bad decision making which leads to goals. If you're going to play counter-attacking, non-possession based football as Mowbray is then you need a good defence. We haven't got one. Wingers - will he persist with the wide forwards nonsense which has resulted in zero threat from the left hand side? Bringing Conway back suggested Mogga had seen the light. AA is just not a winger. It's a totally different game to being a striker and I can't think of another manager who does it. Will Davenport be the answer in CM which allows us to keep the ball more or will ne have to buy a new CM'er? Mogga has some big decisions to make about both personnel and style of play.
  17. The £150m+ would have helped though
  18. You probably didn't blame Coyle in that case.
  19. "When they threw Jansson up top it seemed to throw our team and I don’t know why we ended up with our striker going back and making him and not having some up front to get hold of the ball and slow the game down" Is Mowbray for real? Can he not shout instructions on the pitch? It's never Tony's fault.
  20. Sorry, pulling this up? Don't let that mask slip? You ignored the question about whether we have the resilience and bottle for a relegation battle. I'll take it as a 'no'.
