  1. I thought Mark45 was Gav??!
  2. Even when Dack signed and he was unfit and struggling a bit you could see there was a player there. Dack also cost £6.25m less than BB.
  3. We got promoted. We are 14th in the 2nd Division.
  4. Agree with most of those and that for the most part Mogga's signings have been poor. Dack is the one stand out exception. A case can certainly be made for Smallwood. I rate Smallwood and think he gets a lot of unfair stick. He isn't a playmaker but he is a good def mid. It's not his fault that there is no creativity besides Dack in the team. If we'd signed Celina and Freeman then it might have been a different story. Whittingham was one you missed. He was appalling. Rothwell, Bell and AA fall into the 'maybe'. Rothwell hasn't played enough to be a hit. He has ability but so does Palmer and he is a long way from being a hit. AA has been awful this season. Bell has been a liability at times although he had his best game in a Rovers shirt IMO on Saturday. Davenport may be the answer if he gets a chance. Played well for Burton in the Championship last season by all accounts. Mowbray's signings seem to be getting progressively worse which is a worry. None of this summer's (except loanee Reed) can get in the team/play well.
  5. Like with Gladwin it's now an exercise in damage limitation. Brilliant in training etc...The problem is Gladwin only cost about 10p and is out of contract in about 6 months.
  6. £7m is chicken feed. Embarrassing 'lad'.
  7. Everyone can see it. Except the manager.
  8. Agreed. The emphasis needs to be on 1st team players who can contribute now, I find it incredible we've spent £7m on a lad that the manger admits isn't good enough.
  9. We need more strikers who we can destroy by playing them out of position. Then the manager can say they're not ready. And we can pay loads of money for the privilege and have no effective wide players. Mogga is a genius!
  10. I don't think Samuel would have started simply because Bennett (or now Reed) is a certain started from wide right when fit. Unless Samuel was going to play wide left.
  11. He cost £7m. It's very odd that you think we wouldn't put him on a top wage but that we would pay £7m for potential. Even Mowbray is saying he isn't good enough. Anyway if you think BB's agent has allowed BB to be put on a low wage when he cost the club 4 times more than anyone else then I don't think you understand how these things work. He'll be on a minimum of £10k pw. Back to the question you asked. Who would cost more this season? Quite clearly BB. If he is going to cost £7m then the VERY LEAST we will have to pay in Jan upfront is £1.75m (quarter of the fee over a 4 year deal) which is £33k PW - more than Pukki's weekly wage. That is before we've even added in BB's wage. The upfront fee for BB will in all likelihood be more than £1.75m. I have no idea what your last sentence means. It will cost a MINIMUM of £10m over 4 years for a player Mowbray doesn't think is yet good enough for the first team. That is the very definition of waxing £10m up the wall on potential. I have no idea what your point is anymore?
  12. I think he's covering his own arse. "The question is probably because he cost a few quid, I understand that, but personally I don’t put numbers on players, I just judge them as players" This is my favourite quote. Someone put a number on him. It was £7m. The judgement is that's not enough to find a 1st team player at Rovers because as Mogga says BB is not good enough. It's insane.
  13. "He’s a young lad who’s had very little opportunities because I don’t think he’s ready to impact our team at the moment" - Mogga What do you think that will do to his confidence?
  14. BB. Obviously. We are paying a transfer fee plus not dissimilar wages. One is also contributing to the first team. The cheaper one. Gerrit?
  15. Very true. However, the recruitment dept. is now running on 'full fuel' apparently so there are 'no more excuses'.
  16. ….and one contributes to the 1st team by scoring goals and one doesn't. Pukki is on a three year deal at a reported 18k PW. He is being linked with Champions League clubs. BB is being linked with our U23's.
  17. I think everyone gets it. Well, nearly everyone. It's fine getting the likes of Rothwell, Davenport, Bell, Dack (and perhaps Chapman and Bauer in Jan) on cheap fees for less than a £1 million when they are near the end of their contracts. They are low risk financially with the potential to be worth a lot more. It's lunacy paying £7m for someone who is clearly no better than those players and probably no better than Nuttall. That money would have been better spent on the likes of Pukki or a similar free transfer/low fee player (e.g. Mulgrew Graham etc ) who could walk into the 1st team and contribute straight away.
  18. But you accept BB will cost more than Pukki over the length of a 4 year contract?
  19. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17318168.brereton-not-suffering-from-confidence-dip-says-mowbray/ It's worse than I thought. He's not suffering from a lack of confidence, he really is that bad? Scoring lots in training though.
  20. Leeds will have a far bigger pool of players to choose from. That's just basic geography. I actually think our Academy does OK. Even back in the Prem years we rarely produced players for our first team. Most ended up in L1 or lower. The Duff's, Dunn's and Jones' were the exceptions. What is encouraging now is that we seem to be picking up the good quality cast-offs from the likes of Man U and L/pool - players like Travis, Butterworth and Rankin-Costello. Having the likes of Raya, Lenihan & Nyambe as 1st team regulars is a favourable reflection on our Academy. Travis, Wharton and that young keeper Fisher will hopefully be added to that in the next season or two. maybe even R-Costello and Butterworth.
  21. To be fair he made a stupid tackle and got sent off at Pompey. He fell out of favour after that. He doesn't seem to be learning. When he came on the other week at home (SWFC?) he went through someone within minutes of coming on and could easily have been carded. I think he needs to go on loan. I have no idea why, after signing so many MF's, Mowbray has kept him at the club. Travis could potentially be a very good player. He needs to go out and learn how to reign in his enthusiasm and not be rash. By the start of next season he should be a serious contender for a midfield place in our first team.
  22. Don't bring facts into it.
  23. How much is he on? You knowing that is central to your whole argument. Bear in mind Pukki went to Norwich on a free. So no fee just wages. So lets take the MINIMUM that BB will cost which is £10m over four years. Pukki would have to be on 50k pw for four years to cost the same. As you say Pukki is a Champions League level player and one of the top scorers in the league. BB isn't but he will cost Rovers more than Pukki will cost Norwich. We've got ourselves a bargain ?
  24. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/17312625.no-excuses-for-rovers-after-investment-in-recruitment/ “I think the recruitment department is about ready to run on full fuel" Ignore the last window, nothing to see there. Judge me from now!? “Every manager in the world gets judged on his recruitment of players as those are guys that can either win or lose you football matches.” Amen. 'Ben Brereton’s move will be made permanent when the window re-opens on January 1' Weep.
  25. It highlights how bad we were in the transfer marker this summer. Agree on Bennett.
