"It’ll be a great game for us, hopefully with a big crowd, as I imagine a lot of Blackburn people will be back in the area for Christmas"- Mogga That's true of Boxing Day but not normally 4 days before Christmas.

They can Farke right off. 2-1 Rovers. -
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/december/back-us-in-your-numbers-urges-tony/ Tony urges stay-ways to support their local club. Hopefully there are no cheap ale deals on at Accy.

Can you quote them?

I'm responding to a specific point that you raised that you hadn't raised before....namely that spending £7m on BB means we can all get excited about the future. Agreed if he was banging them in but he's not because he can't get in the team. Shades of the Portugeezers, just a lot, lot, lot more expensive.
-
Sigh. We've just paid £7m for a young lad. Unless FFP rules have been relaxed and Venky's are embarking on a promotion push and charging it to their own account and not to BRFC then it's fine. Have these things happened because if they haven't we now owe Venky's a few million more for someone who can't get in the team. That's not that exciting really is it and it's certainly not good for the 'direction' of the club. It's all a bit Portugeezers.

What about someone who can get into a mid-table Championship side? How much are they on?

If Rhodes has learned to run the channels we're fooked. -
Who mentioned 40/50kpw? Not daft? £7m for a lad who's not ready to play according to the man who signed him. As a mid-table payer of wages there will be quite a few players who can contribute now who will fit into our wage budget. Those players are playing for other clubs and didn't cost £7m.
-
Exactly, and same with Assombolonga. He cost £6m and came from the division below when he signed for a Championship club. However he'd already had a season or two of banging them in. BB has absolutely no track record of scoring goals. Assombolonga and Rhodes also went straight into their new teams and scored goals, just as Bamford has done this season (now he's injury free) and he also cost £7m. Whichever way you paint it the BB deal is lunacy UNLESS Mowbray starts playing him and he starts scoring goals that justify the expenditure.
-
Good lord, spending £7m on a 19 year old is a sensible approach. You're missing the point. BB has never done owt even at Championship level. £7m is ridiculous. It's infinitely better spending £4m on a 27 year old and paying him 25K and getting a top quality Championship player who contributes by winning the team points over 3 years whilst he's still in his prime and who will still end up costing LESS than BB (who may never amount to anything) That player may get us in the play-offs. BB can't get in the team. Do you see the difference????? Saying he may be worth triple down the line is pie in the sky. We need players who can contribute NOW.
-
No idea about their cars but Venky's will have lost £150m+ if they stop funding Rovers because the club will go bust. I'd imagine that is quite a 'benefit' to them. They have a chance to get into the Prem and make all that money back in a couple of seasons if they invest in players wisely and we get promoted. Promotion is the ONLY way they'll get their money back and if we stay in the Prem the global advertising potential for their company is huge. Then there's the whole pride and prestige in owning a football club that is important to them (or so people say). But going back to your straw man, £7m is indeed a lot of money to spend on potential (i.e. a player who can't get in a mid-table Championship team) for a club having to comply with FFP. It's practically unheard of. If there are other examples out there I'd love to hear them.
-
That's not really representative of anything. AA played as a winger for Bolton in the Championship and bombed. We are now doing the same. He's a striker, not a winger. The BB situation has been well covered but if he's a £7m man then I'm worth at least £2m. Whatever way you look at it we've massively overpaid for a 19 year old with the occasional decent performance behind him. This all goes back to the scouting set-up and the manager. The onus is on them to get it right. There are plenty of players who will represent a bargain at lower league level or abroad. £20m is still the same as when we got Graham and Mulgrew on a free or Dack for £750k. Again, just because we've massively overpaid for someone who's had the odd good game at Championship level, or paid £1.75m for a striker we've stuck out on the wing, doesn't mean there aren't quality players out there. Your starting point is all wrong. Dack would obviously be a huge loss but not irreplaceable. P'boro have made getting players on the cheap and flogging them for £m's into an art form. It can be done....as Dack has proved.
-
He had the money, he chose to spend it on a lad who Mowbray, his assistant and the recruitment team thought had 'huge' potential. It's a hell of a lot of money to spend on 'potential'. The bit in bold is just nonsense. If he's shite we'll be lucky to get anything back, especially if we've massively overpaid anyway.

filth.

https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/football-news/aitor-karanka-ben-breretons-blackburn-1945861 The 19-year-old is poised to join Rovers on loan, with a view to a £7m permanent move, which also includes several potential future add-ons, if Brereton is a success at Ewood Park.
-
That's not a good thing when he can't get a game. We've paid £7m for a sub and are paying him good money to be a sub. I'll stick with £13m total cost over the length of his contract.
-
He's better than Bell. Team full Of Bradleys, we've got a team full of Bradleys.
-
No.
-
Confirmed by both the Rovers and Forest journo's. I'd suggest he's on £750k - £1m per year over 4 years. There's another £4m. £13m total cost won't be far away.
-
I always enjoy it when you can no longer back up your arguments and have to resort to playing the man.

I think you're right on that for the most part but he does seem to be a genuine goalscorer. He just doesn't appear to be the type that could play the lone striker at Championship level yet. That may change as he gets more experience. I think there's definitely something there though. Story in the LT today that 3 L1 clubs are after him on loan so hopefully he will get a move in January so he can test himself.
-
The £7m is guaranteed. Then there are add-ons. This has been confirmed by Sharpe and the Forest journo. Add the salary over 4 years and you are looking at £13-£15m anyway for BB. There are absolutely no guarantees we will get any of that back. He could have bought 10 Dacks instead. That is your financial comparison.

Attacking MF according to his wiki. A box-to-box MF according to him. Nothing like Smallwood, although if we played with genuine central midfielders and not just two water-carriers then I'm sure he might we worth a look. Then again if we played like that we might concede even more goals. Tough balancing act.
