  1. That also stood out against WBA. He seems wise beyond his years. Agree with you, he's a brilliant finisher. He also a very good passer of a ball so he's a bit more than just a 'second striker'. The problem is when he gets the ball the options ahead of him are limited. With that fat arse he's a bit Dalglish-esque at times the way he rolls people. Daggers wasn't quick either. The 'Dack is not quick enough to play in the Prem' nonsense I keep reading is just that.
  2. Only saw the goal last night. A very good header from Dack and a brilliant cross from the much-maligned Bennett. Evans seemed to get his feet mixed up and lose where the ball was for the penalty and so just stuck out a leg.
  3. It was an Oldham player and I'm pretty sure it was Rob Hunt. On of the greats.
  4. https://www.bescotbanter.net/2019/01/mitch-candlin-returns-to-walsall-as.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bescotbanterfeed+(Bescot+Banter) Candlin the wind going back to Walsall according to this^
  5. In the two games against SUFC and WBA he had something like 90% pass rate so that can't be right. Didn't see the game tonight.
  6. Their reserves cost about x20 more than ours. 'Lump on' though, what could possibly go wrong
  7. Rich Sharpe in LT:- 'No word on why Kasey Palmer isn't involved today. Tony Mowbray told me on Thursday that he had been given permission to play by Chelsea. Will check with him after the game'
  8. Rovers subs: Leutwiler, Nyambe, Williams, Downing, Rothwell, Reed, Brereton.
  9. I just looked but couldn't find the option. It just showed a £1 for 8 weeks option or a normal subscription. Probably me being a bit thick.
  10. Ah yes. made the cardinal sin of not reading beyond the post I quoted! Cheers,
  11. Could you post the interview if you are behind the Times paywall? (if that's where Winter is these days)
  12. Evans, Reed, Smallwood and Travis are all 'tough' players and they play in the same position. Not sure why we need another based on that criteria alone? If you'd said better passer like others have you might be on to something.
  13. Jesus Christ you've some opinion of yourself! You made a pointless remark about 'strong runners' and players who like to 'get forward' which could include about 5 players in every team in the league. You somehow decided in that context that the Ox and Travis were similar players. I just pointed out they aren't. If anyone lack 'football knowledge' my angry little friend it is you. You just can't cope with anyone disagreeing with you , yet you are responsible for some of the most pointless and inane disagreements on here. Know thyself Doggy! FYI. I haven't got you on ignore so I will disagree with your posts if I so decide. That's how a democratic forum works. If you want to throw your dummy out because you can't handle a bit of non-offensive discussion then that's your problem. Crack on.
  14. Agree with your post but don't think a comparison can be made with these three. Travis showed against WBA he rarely loses the ball and can be trusted not to get too far ahead of play and leave massive gaps behind. Rothwell IMO would be a liability in the middle of the park for those very reasons. Reed is a lot more responsible than Rothwell but I think he needs a bit more of a free role. Tucking in at RM (like Bennett does) seems ideal for him. I think that's the problem. Two sitting MF's is fine if you've got players further forward who can create. We only have Dack. I think this season might have been a bit different if we'd signed Freeman. He appears to have the quality we lack on the left. On the CM pairing in general we are in danger of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. One thing that appears fairly obvious is that we concede a lot of goals late on when the Evans/Smallwood shield for the back 4 has blown itself out. It was noticeable that with Travis on the field (with his better energy levels) that the Alamo against WBA didn't really materialise. Sure they had chances but it was no more than you'd expect from a top team in our division going for an equaliser. We don't really control possession as a team so Evans and Smallwood are there to stop our back four being put under pressure. When they stop doing that our back 4 tends to crack. Whether the lack of control is because of the coaching/team instruction or because of the players is another matter. Mowbray tried to convince the world last season we were a 'front-foot' team. He gave up the charade after the Wigan game at home and finally admitted we were a 'transition' team (i.e. counter-attacking). We still are that team. We ar certainly more Mourinho in style than Pep/Klopp. Whether that changes as we bring better players in (as Mowbray has said it will) remains to be seen.
  15. Travis is not a wide-player/winger by any stretch of the imagination. He might be ok at RB but there was a game last season when he came on as sub there in a game we were struggling in and looked fairly bad. He was then moved into central midfield and won us the game, basically because he got us on the front foot and passed forwards.
  16. No doubting his pace and finishing ability but we are defo not getting the best out of him. He is not a creative player but is being asked to play a creative role.
  17. Ex Dingle? And another CM iirc.
  18. Those fringe players would walk into most Championship teams. Such is the difference between getting £6m in TV money or £160m.
  19. Lots of players are 'strong runners' who like to 'get forward'. You specifically mentioned the Ox. He's nothing like the Ox. Chapman is a strong runner who likes to get forward. So is Bell. Neither are like Travis.
