  1. "It was possibly that length of build-up that made Tony Mowbray possibly over think his approach having studied the opposition so much during the international break" https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/17254231.preston-north-end-4-blackburn-1-match-verdict/?ref=mr&lp=8 Not for the 1st time Mowbray's fear of the opposition has led him to self-sabotage. It was the same last season. It's not like we are playing Man City.
  2. I suggested changing the formation. If we play 2 up top that would mean dropping Dack. Unless Tony went 4-3-1-2. We are so poor as an attacking unit that at some stage Mowbray will have to change his approach - especially if the defence falls apart on a regular basis.
  3. He was poor in League 1 when TinkerTony played him on the wing. It's a lot different running from deep than having to do it from a standing start. I don't rate him (to sloppy in possession and lethargic when defending) but he's better at the back.
  4. Palmer - 1 goal and very little else - probably a No.10 being played out of position - 4/10 Armstrong - contributed 1 league goal (a flukey cross) and not a lot else - played out of position - 4/10 Rothwell - contributed 1 assist and very little else. Not sure where his best position is - 4/10 Brereton - £7m, two assists and played out of position - 4/10 Reed - 1 goal, some good performances - 7/10 Rodwell - work in progress but could be a very good signing if his body holds up. - 6/10 Conclusion - Square pegs, round holes - failure.
  5. Bell normally is sloppy and Williams normally is steady. Williams was apparently appalling yesterday. What's yer beef, chief?
  6. I've been saying since early season he's a 1.5ppg type of manager. I said 14th at the beginning of the season and I think that's a decent guess. I don't think he'd take us up with the best players in the league. He's too cautious and concerned with the opposition for that, and too obsessed with formations and tinkering.
  7. He might as well go 4-4-2 and play BB and AA up front with a midfield of: Reed Evans Travis Rothwell. Keep it tight and play to AA and BB's strengths. Give Dack a rest and try and find goals elsewhere. Rothwell and Travis certainly deserve a go from the start at some point.
  8. I also believe this as good as it gets with Mowbray. I think he's a 1.5 points a game manager at his level with the way he plays these days. Mid-table is not to be sniffed it at but the stakes (and expectations) have also been raised somewhat with the BB signing. If the owners feel the same then Mogga may come under pressure if we start slipping down the league and his expensive signing still only gets 10 minutes here and there. My main gripe is this. By his own admission Mogga thinks Graham can only play 1 game in two. Grahams body may dictate the same. Graham is the central focus of everything we do as an attacking unit. We are hopeless without him. So why on earth did we not sign cover in the summer and instead spent £7m on a striker who Mogga doesn't trust? It smacks of very poor planning. The signings of Rothwell, Palmer, and Armstrong are also looking poorer by the week. Playing Palmer up top is something even Coyle wouldn't do.
  9. I'm pretty sure that's where the ambulance is. There's a huge double gate there plenty wide enough for an ambulance.
  10. I agree up to a point but PNE haven't spent £7m on a sub. I'm not sure how many windows he'll get with that amount of investment. PNE do it on a shoestring in comparison. We also never look that well coached to me as an attacking unit. We are hard working but I don't believe we can't play better football. Again, do PNE have much better players than us?
  11. And that's what people are discussing. Today we got hammered. He picked the wrong team. The end.
  12. He's just describing what he did. He isn't taking responsibility. Is that honesty when every one knows what he did? He can't exactly say he played DG from the start can he? His comments about the Internationals are very odd. Excuses...
  13. “He came on and made an impact, but I don’t sit here regretting the decisions I made with the team selection. “Palmer played up top, we went with the speed of Armstrong in the wide areas. “Take the first 10 minutes out of it and I thought it was a confident performance, which sounds strange having lost the game 4-1. “I’m not hiding behind the fact the defenders weren’t good enough, that’s uncharacteristic of them" Roughly translated as 'not my fault'. He was exactly the same at the start of last season when we were struggling. #honesttony
  14. A huge response needed. Wigan are good at home so it's another tough game. No idea what the team will be. There are normally changes the game after we play badly. Mowbray needs to pick players in roles they are comfortable in. They also need to start the game in the 1st minute. I'm not hopeful...
  15. He played Palmer up front. He's played Dack up front. He plays strikers out wide. He either doesn't know his players or he's buying the wrong ones. His signings this summer have been poor.
  16. That says more about the rest of the team. If he's getting marked every week with sometimes 2 players there should be gaps elsewhere. I wouldn't say he's the playmaker either. He's there to score goals which he does better than any other No.10 in the division. We don't really have a playmaker.
  17. That's far too sensible. We need more CM's, No.10's and strikers on the wing.
  18. No disputing that, but today was predictable as soon as the team was read out.
  19. The criticism of Dack is bizarre. If he doesn't score we often don't. It's worth noting only 5 goals have come form open play this season that haven't been scored by him. 5 GOALS IN 18 GAMES.
