  1. I wholeheartedly agree. A well earned 3 points, great credit to Barnsley. I suspect more of the same on Wednesday night and if we are to gain another 3 points from that fixture too, we'll all be ecstatic.
  2. 3rd Round FA Cup draw coming up: Bring on the fecking Dingles!!!
  3. A win playing ugly. Just what the doctor ordered. Bring on The Lions and more of the same would do me! Well done Rovers!
  4. A good half of football that for me. Barnsley are no mugs and look a decent side. We have to learn to be patient and soak up whatever the opposition have to offer and have a killer punch when given the opportunity. I think we did that to perfection in the first 45. Great run and cut back from Nyambe and clinical finish fro Arma. I'd be more than happy with a relatively boring second half which leaves the same scoreline as now at the conclusion.
  5. Cracking line up for me, perhaps Gallagher may consider himself unfortunate to be dropped to the bench. What a great bench too, plenty of options. Please no 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' Rovers. COYB!!
  6. I was always given the advice never to back anything each way that was less than 5/1 Merc, there's no value in the 'place'. Surprised you've not stuck £40 on the nose at 3/1?
  7. The second of our series of 2 home games, we welcome 'The Lions' of Bermondsey, Millwall to Ewood Park. As a result of Covid-19, Harry the Dog and his chums will have to watch on iPlayer along with the rest of us. (Fannies!) They currently sit (before the weekends fixtures) one point above ourselves, having drawn 7 of their 13 games so far this season. It's always been a tough game against Millwall and no doubt next Wednesday night won't be any different. We''ll have to be at our very best to overcome a really resilient team and any point that we manage to win, will have been extremely hard earned. Hopefully we'll manage all 3. COYB!
  8. I get your point and you'd suspect that his current deal may have been based on that in some sort of way. That was then and this is now, other than an absence for paternal leave and something Covid related, he's been pretty much injury free thus far this season. We've all seen what a quality player he is, in a quiet sort of a way, and how he is the key ingredient in making our team really tick. I hope that we manage to keep Holtby and really look forward to when, in 2 or 3 years time, on the 70 minute mark, he starts the slow walk towards the Riverside, game won, before taking the even longer walk towards the dug-out. I think Holtby is in that category, potential legend status: just pull your finger out to keep him Venus/Venkys!
  9. We're winning nowt in 2020 Len, 2021's the year! We live in hope!
  10. Yep, all about opinions, he may have been the greatest in your minds' eye but nowhere near in mine. ? (Feck knows what this means btw but it made me smile)
  11. Na Gav, not for me. It's alway sad when anyone passes but I won't lose sleep over Maradonna. He'll always be remembered by most of us as a cheating git and worse, one that loved that very accolade. Not fit to lace up the boots of either Messi or Ronaldo in recent years, never mind others in years past. Best as another, was a far better player imo but succumbed similarly.
  12. I've done the same today I'm afraid. Cheered me up no end, it really is comedy gold. On what grounds other than recent bragging rights have they the right to think they should be able to laud it over us? They've never won fuck all or even come close for a century. They've punched way above their weight for a number of seasons, they should be grateful for that. At last, we put them well and truly in their place. They might be a city but we're the most successful town team in the world!
  13. ABBA - Waterloo Yeh, I know soz. Genesis - Abb.......
  14. Just agree, yeh you heard similar. Once a lad from Roman Road Estate and The Manxman...........
  15. I think Lewis Holtby ought to be at the top of any list regarding new contracts as a matter of urgency. In my view, he's instrumental in everything when we're on song and badly missed when unavailable. I believe his current one expires next summer and he needs to be offered a new deal before the January window kicks in. Hopefully it's sufficiently attractive for him to want to stay. In fact imperative I'd say.
  16. Our second goal was key to killing the game off for me. When they introduced Potts and he was buzzing about in the gap between our defence and midfield, I was concerned for 10 minutes or so. We scored our second and the remainder of the match was just a procession. Embarrassingly so from a North End perspective, overall though they were shocking.
  17. For the majority of this season, Mowbray has kept his gob shut about 'bigging up' the opposition. On the odd occasions where he's relented, we've invariably struggled in those games. For gawd's sake, I hope Mowbray stays completely stum regarding Barnsley and Millwall, let them worry about us and we just go about our business.
  18. I know but history also tells us we get dicked at Deepdale too. If we feck up the next 2 home games and particularly don't perform, I'll be the first in with hob nailed boots! Hopefully, we've turned a corner!
  19. He's the best I've seen here since Bryan Douglas at being able to leave a player sat on their arse through body movement alone. That's saying something I know because that includes Duffer. Dolan's a precocious talent that needs nurturing and time to develop further. I just love a player of ours that when he get's the ball, you shuffle forward in your seat in expectation.
  20. I agree Tyrone, it's often my biggest criticism of Rovers' forward play, particularly when teams are prepared to sit deep. Hopefully they've learned the lesson because I feel that's exactly what will be needed when Barnsley do exactly that on Saturday and Millwall probably too midweek.
  21. Still on a high following last night's performance and result, thought we'd better get the next match day thread up and running. The Tykes are at Ewood on Saturday and have had a topsy turvy start to the season similar to ourselves. They currently sit only 2 points behind us having won three and lost 2 of their last 5 games, the latest being a home defeat by Brentford last night. They would have been tipped by most though to be relegated at the start of the season but appear to be bucking the trend and I expect a tough encounter. I read an article yesterday that linked Mario Balotelli with Barnsley. He's currently a free agent but whether there's any truth in the story or not, who knows. Perhaps if Big Sam were manager there, the story could have legs. We need the 3 points in the first of a couple of home games, Millwall to follow midweek, to build on the 4 points gained in the past 2 away fixtures. Were we to finish up with 10 points from that series of 4 games, then perhaps we could start to believe. COYB!
