  1. I'd give that formation and team a shot too. I really hope Evans doesn't feature in the squad at all. Welcome back chaddy btw, I presume it's really you.
  2. I couldn't call this, which Rovers are going to turn up? The one that sees us in a tailspin of consecutive defeats, or the one that turns up when it's potentially hotting up for Mogga and we string a couple of unexpected wins together against the odds. If I were to have a punt, it would be on 2 straight defeats against The Swans and Boro. Hope I'm wrong.
  3. If he'd shouted 'keepers ball' in a loud authoritative voice, Douglas should have just left it and Pears pick the ball up. If he didn't it was Douglas' fault for not defending properly and hoofing it clear, if he did it was still Douglas' fault for ignoring the call. Pears didn't instil me with confidence afterwards but you can't pin the blame for the way we didn't defend as a team on him. We defended woefully, collectively as a team.
  4. The son of a good pal of mine came through t'clarets academy, both are avid Roverites. He signed pro forms of sorts with them a couple of years ago but after being farmed out on loan, they decided to release him last summer. He's subsequently signed for Barrow. Once he'd been released by Burnley, the pair of them couldn't wait to come out of the closet so to speak. Once a Rover, never a clarette!
  5. Funnily enough, the conversation has already come round to place of birth on the birth certificate and the fact that the maternity unit being based you know where: Unanimously the vote was for Lancashire with no mention of that shower down the M65!
  6. Cheers speedie, I'll take the age reference as a compliment (I think!). Hope things are ok for you in the US, I had planned to be there for a couple of months at the beginning of September but COVID put paid to that. Keep safe mate.
  7. Thanks Gav, no worries regarding allegiance, he/she will be the first of the next family generation of Darren based Roverites!
  8. Thanks OJF, it's worrying times that's for sure but everything is A1 up to press.
  9. Cheers gumboots, hope all goes well with your latest family addition.
  10. I'm due to become a grandparent for the first time in March. Absolutely thrilled and it's a beacon of light amongst all the current doom and gloom. I don't mind if it's a girl or boy as long as it's healthy but irrespective, he or she will be getting a blue and white halved baby grow!
  11. A sad loss and I was surprised that he was only 76. A stark reminder too that Covid is an indiscriminate killer. RIP Bobby, an iconic, funny man.
  12. It's blatantly obvious Pears was signed as a last gasp favour to a pal. Last season we'd Leutweiller on the books and one donkey on loan. This season, we need 3 on the books? Either the Greek or Pears was an after thought and Pears was last through the door but signed up for 4 years, go figure. He couldn't directly be blamed for any of last nights goals but looked like 'little lad lost'.
  13. We've needed a couple of imposing centre backs for years, none of ours currently fit that criteria. If we had that, with our attacking options, we'd be a force to be reckoned with. Lenihan and Williams should be squad players, not the first choice central defence pairing. I'm happy with all the other aspects of our squad, if not the tactics and how they are played. Mowbray is out thought time and again by cannier managers and Warnock will be licking his lips. As an option, with the players available, perhaps 3 at the back of Nyambe, Ayala and Williams, with JRC and Douglas as wing backs could be an option?
  14. Our Under 18s are in the FA Youth Cup Semi Final against Man City this coming Friday. Good luck to the lads and it'll be interesting to see how we fare.
  15. I expected Evans and Trybull to sit deep protecting the back 4. In the first 30 mins Evans was often our most advanced midfielder and Trybull playing almost left wing back which I found really odd. It obviously then exposed our centre halves. After we conceded the third, Evans was anonymous. I've always felt that Lenihan was suspect in the back 4 and now he seams to be regressing as a player. His decision making and levels of concentration are atrocious. As has been said so often, good sides keep it tight at the back and build from there. When the fuck are we going to learn that very simple principle of football?
  16. That's maybe Joe but all the stats at half time looked brilliantly in our favour, we've had a cracking half, all bar one stat.
  17. I suppose Evans and Trybull as a centre mid defensive pairing allow Douglas, JRC and Holtby more licence to get forward in support of the front 3 and pin back their 2 fullbacks.
