TBF----We simply read what you write and draw conclusions. We're still awaiting the revolution you told us was round the corner but which you couldn't reveal details of for reasons of confidentiality.

    Hasn't happened has it?

He has admitted that is hasn't happened, but failed to expand on that and I can't understand why. If Waggott had promised certain things to him, that in turn meant he posted what he did, then why not now, say what it was that he was told and what the timeframe was.

I think we all know the SW has the gift of the gab and manages to appease most fans. That said, I think he will have a hard time doing that to GM when he meets him next week.

  2. It looks like West Brom have  a few problem of their own, in respect of the financial side of things and questionable owners.

I haven't looked at it in any great detail, but may mean, they are coming into this a bit weaker than last year, like us. Given this and given that we took 4 points off them, I am hoping we can get off to a winning start.

I can't see a goal fest, but will be perfectly happy with a 1 -0 win, just as we did last year, which I think, broke a horrible sequence, of failing to win our opening match for several seasons.

I don't care who score, but assuming Leonard is our striker, then it would be nice to see him get the goal and and set him on his way, to a successful first full season in the team.

  3. I was going to buy 5 tickets today, as due to a very kind offer from a member of the BRFC Trust team, my Grandson has been chosen as one of the mascots. I tried to buy him a kit today at the club shop, but they have none and don’t expect to be getting any for two weeks. His kit from last year, no longer fits, due to a growth spurt.

I have put the feelers out for a kit for him, but so far, no joy.

Hope he isn’t going to miss out, due to that, it would be a great shame.

Where we are there isn’t really an English community although there are Brits in neighbouring villages. One of the reason we went there. We avoid the ones that do come into town as a whole because of their attitudes. Nobody really speaks English in the local community either. So it’s learn the language or struggle. I struggle but luckily Mrs Shoelaces is reasonably good.

Daft question - what’s the heat like ? We fly out tomorrow and 40C plus isn’t very appealing to be honest.

It sounds a bit like where I am Tyrone. Both the Mrs and I decided to learn Spanish and we are both glad we did. It is nice to have Spanish friends who we can communicate with an if we decide we want to have night off and speak English, we visit one of the areas where we have a large British contingent.

It is very hot at the minute, around 35C today and may get to around 40C by the end of the week.

I am back in the UK for 17 days from Thursday, so will get a bit of respite.

Have a safe trip over and make sure you pack the 50 factor.

I wonder how he'll get on living abroad. Believe it or not, it's not the dream that many think it is. You're not on holiday. You work as normal. You have to sort out a whole heap of admin-type stuff and get yourself set up all over again with anything and everything (I've been doing this for years, and it is ongoing). The language barrier can be difficult, which can make life a bit lonely if you can't converse properly with locals. Also, many expats/immigrants just come and go because they are on some "finding my soul" type of spiritual journey. I really struggle to connect with those types as they are full of pretentious shit.

Of course, Ben will no doubt be in and amongst English speakers who have also moved to Villarreal from another country, which will be a huge help, but adapting and sticking through the rough bits isn't straightforward. It's basically a big upheaval of your life, no matter how fanciful it might look on paper.

All the best to him. He did well in the end for us after a very rough start to life at the club. It's a complete failure of the club to have spent so much money on him, only for it to never come to anything for us other than a couple of outside shots at the play-offs. Forest will be even more pissed off with us due to not getting a slice of a sale!

The secret is to integrate and definitely learn the language. I’ve seen people move to areas near me, only mix with the English community and not bother to learn the language. They quite rightly gets frowned upon.

I live in a very traditional Spanish town. I have learnt Spanish and get accepted on the whole quite readily.

Going out for example for a beer with my Spanish mate to a local Spanish bar to watch the Champions league game, City V Real Madrid is a good sign I’m accepted. Even speaking Spanish with a Blackburn accent did no damage, that night.

  6. I remember some of the chairmen, but until Jack Walker came in, I never really even thought about who owned the club.

As a boy, it didn't really matter, I was a just a Blackburn lad, who was in love with my home town club. I guess until I was about 15 I didn't even think about the finances, just the players who put on the famous shirts and did their best week in, week out.

Someone is really trying it on there. I get the impression that their owners are a bunch of shysters, there to make a fast buck then scarper.

With the riches on offer in the prem, there is no need to stitch the fans up.

  8. For someone to say he is second to Kean and not by much, is bang out of order.

He was not worse than Coyle and looking back, was he even anywhere near to Kidd and one or two others.

Kean will never ever have even 1% of the respect Mowbray had and to suggest he was close to him, is insulting.

Because you don’t understand the implications of it, obviously…

I guess the term, turning a blind eye, being quoted in the article I posted, could apply here. It’s not difficult to find out what goes on, in some of the middle eastern states.

The slaying of Jamal Khashoggi was given plenty of coverage in the British and world press, but perhaps a lot of what goes on, is heavily covered up.

To give it some perspective, would an announcement that the Russian state were about to buy Rovers, not bother anyone on here?

  10. I guess some people may decide this is biased, but perhaps this article shows whether the take over of our clubs by certain states, should bother us or not.

It certainly bothers me, when blood money is mentioned and when a Newcastle Faun is quoted as feeling disconnected from the club.

I guess it’s dependent on your morals, but I would not want blood money to be what brings success to my club.
