To be fair, I think Wigan have already missed a few deadlines for paying players this season. The quick charge has come through them already being on notice from the efl, and they've broken the agreement they had with them.

I guess with Sheff United, it could be what is the best thing not to pay, the players wages or the instalment on a transfer fee, owed for a player they signed.

Which ever way you look at it, they have taken on a liability they could not afford and should be faced with the consequences.

I dragged myself off the pitch and my dad drove me to hospital 😂 Closest I've ever seen my dad get to thumping someone who hadn't hit him first.

I broke my femur playing football at school. The sports teacher made we walk (Limp dragging my leg almost) home about 2 miles.

My late mother who was about 4'10" almost throttled him, the following day, as I lay in traction in Blackburn Royal.

Yep. He’s bound to back him in public, but he needs to be giving him a rollicking behind closed doors. As I said earlier, he’s pussied out of so much this season and it’s cost us hugely today.

I bloody hope he gives Wharton a run in the middle. Morton is not good enough.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Wharton again. Hope he is heavily involved from here on in.

I thought that as well. What a great game for any football fan. Miles better than yesterdays procession and City’s shooting in practice.

I know our friends down the road have run away with the league this season, but everyone else is capable of beating each other.

Its great seeing Rovers complete at the top end again and today was a day to enjoy, despite the result.

The usual crap coverage for us by ITV. No manager interview either before after the match. Absolutely no back-stories about Rovers, just a brief pre-match interview with Brereton. At least it helps in keeping this season's achievements under the radar. McCoist was fair but otherwise absolutely rubbish punditry in the studio.

There was an interview before the match with JDT. It was live too on the side of the pitch.

Watch the replay of that first half shot- there was late bend and dip which needed great reactions and iron muscles to keep it out. Obviously Pears didn't get as fortunate with the goal and shouldn't have been beaten where he was diving from but again look where it bounced and how hard it was struck. The Italian kid is a loanee from Chelsea.

Adam Wharton had been found out to an extent after that explosive start and hopefully is doing great work with the physio and video analysis. He will be a fabulous player.

As will Tyler Morton whom we forget is physically very slight yet is mostly holding his own in the bear pit that is the Championship midfield. You don't get a 5 year contract from Klop if you are not a bit special and in his quiet way he is showing he is if you care to look.

The Italian lad who scored their goal looked a good player. It was mentioned on Rovers TV that he was on loan from Chelsea and you can see he has star quality.

I think we have a real gem in Wharton and I am looking forward to him coming back into the team. I had a chat with Scott a whole ago and he said at the time, he did not consider himself the best footballer in his family. I also spoke to a youth team coach about him and he said how good a prospect he was.

For those who have watched him in the youth teams, I am sure you know better than I do, as I have only seen his appearances, in the first team, but I genuinely believe from what I have seen, that he is the real deal.

I thought tonight was Morton’s best performance in a while. Not every pass came off, as you’d expect, but he was willing to get on the ball and generally used it well. I do have concerns over his willingness to do his bit defensively though.

Absolutely. He has been frustrating at times, but his performance last night was at least 7/10. Happy to see him starting again and like other players, dropping him, might have given him time to reflect and get his act together.

Allocation is 2,200 including corporate tickets. Burnley upstairs in the Darwen End. Police told Rovers they're happy with the full Darwen End allocation and can resource it if needed, Rovers don't want to risk a pitch invasion (thus upstairs) and don't want to give away a competitive advantage. Also reciprocating the reduced ticket allocation in the reverse fixture.

Seems fair enough to me. I hope we can reciprocate with the result too.

At this point it is merely late submission, not a problem with the accounts. Of course once fully submitted- and the club claim this has now been done - there could be issues with the accounts but at this point there is no suggestion or accusation of financial improprieties. I have a couple of limited companies. On occasion we’ve been fined by the tax man for late submission. If that is all it is, delays as a result of change of accountant (auditor) then nothing to worry about. My concerns are why are we changing auditors at the end of the cycle etc. If there is anything more to this we will soon know.

All that said some of the desperate attempts on here to suggest a points deduction etc are quite funny - if they took the standard 12 points for admin we’d still be top of the league 😂 & if they took an unthinkable 20 we’d still be above you.

How about 40 then, just to be sure?

I have a horrible feeling about these accounts and think they need looking at by HMRC very closely.

    2-0 Rovers.   13,400

One of the most important weeks in the recent history of our Club,we need TWO massive efforts Wednesday and Sunday...full commitment and effort,no excuses!

I agree. I have been waking up during the night thinking about these two games and hope like hell that by this time next week, we are still in the cup and the top six.

Greedy I know, but we are more than capable of this.

  11. When I looked at the recent predictions thread for the remaining games, I could not bring myself to do it. Although we have been on a decent unbeaten run, we were always capable of returning to type and that's exactly what we did last night.

My hope now is that we do not do that in the "six pointers" as we do have some crucial games in the next ten, with Coventry at home, Luton at home and Millwall away, all being crucial games.

I do believe we can make the top six and can still afford the odd slip up, but please do not do it too often lads.

  12. Lots of optimism built up over the last few weeks, disappeared in 45 minutes there.

Too many not doing their jobs. Defence looks nervy and Pears not so assured.

Think the midfield have gone missing and no fight at the top of the pitch either.

Three changes needed at half time. This will finish 4 or 5 otherwise.

That rings a very faint bell for me from back in the '70s or '80s. Is there anyone with whom it chimes more clearly?

It is definitely true. Simply played the home game there and the away fixture at Ewood.

It reminds me of something else too. We drew Millwall away in the FA cup and due to some hooliganism, they had been banned from staging FA cup games, at home.

With it being their home fixture, they played in blue and we payed in our changed strip.

It is the only time I remember us not wearing the blue and white halves at Ewood.

    Does anyone else recall that?

    Hi all,

I attended my first game yesterday and thought the match was great. I was a Bury season ticket holder for 27 years and it has taken me a while to get into football again, but I think after yesterday I may have found somewhere new to watch my football.

I just have a couple of questions:

    1. Was the football played yesterday always like that? I thought Blackburn played well and the match was pretty exciting to watch.

    2. I was sat in the Jack Walker Upper - I thought the view was brilliant - is this the best view in the ground or the older stand facing?

    Thanks

Welcome to this forum and to the life of a Blackburn Rovers fan.

Hopefully you can find something in the bug for Rovers that we all have on here. Not easy I guess, when you have supported the Shakers for all of that time.

I am biased, but Rovers are pretty unique, in a lot of senses of the word, from winning 3 FA Cups in a row to being founder member of the football league and premier league and also being the only town team to win the premier league too.

I guess you will have had a few ex Rovers players to watch over the years too at Gigg Lane too. The late great Lenny Johnrose being one and Mark Patterson being another.

I have two mates who played for Bury too, the late Brian Pilkington and Jamie Hoyland, who is now a youth team coach at Everton.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the season following Rovers and help to cheers us on, our way back to the premier league and a trip or 3 to Wembley.

  15. I am totally saddened and sickened by this and like many others, hope the person responsible for this is brought to justice.

Most people who go to games, do so, with respect for their fellow supporter, whether it is their local rival, or a team with little or no past history.

At the end of the day, we all have family and friends and it is simply shocking that someone can lose their life, just because he or she supports a rival team.

I am sure the football world and both Blackpool and Burnley will pay their respects to the supporter who sadly lost his life and I would love to think, it has taught some people with a propensity for this type of thing, a lesson.
