  1. Get the pre contract signed and then see if we can offload edun and if there's money in the bank at the end of the window offer them a low fee to move the transfer forward and see what happens.
  2. We are too slow transitioning largely because 1) we don't have a natural out ball, like a winger or a Rothwell type cm who can carry it 30 yards upfield or a decent target man who we clip it into and play off. 2) we play very narrow which means when we get the ball back we don't have as many natural options to move it quickly and we revert to slow passing at the back to allow players to get in attacking positions. The narrowness is helping us be harder to play through which I think we are but we need to adapt as at the moment we aren't creating enough chances and are too easy to defend against.
  3. Undav is the only one of those that really needs to happen. We can live with it if the other 2 fall through.
  4. Start of the 21/22 season? See other comments but that's a complete load of rubbish. Before the start of 20/21 maybe yeah. But 21/22? No way, I think if we were to look back through this board from the start of that season you'll likely see a lot of comments about hoping Brereton could step up after the loss of Armstrongs goals.
  5. I said in the summer that a 2nd choice keeper was high up on my list of wants. I still think it makes sense so long as it isn't taking money away from the search for a striker. Presumably Pears heads out on loan, gets some game time and then in the summer someone takes him off us and we maybe even get a small fee for him (okay I'm getting carried away). Presumably one of the younger lads stays as 3rd choice and plays regularly for the under 21s. And another of the young lads will presumably be released. So it does make sense. Bit of forward planning, importantly we aren't paying a transfer fee for a no.2 keeper which is a huge no no in this league.
  6. Kaminski JRC. Ayala. Hyam Pickering Travis Buckley Markanday. Dack. Dolan BBD Subs: Pears, Wharton, Carter, Morton, Wharton, Hedges, Gallagher. Travis starting because Wharton and Buckley would be far too powderpuff. Morton needs dropping, Garrett isn't up to standard yet and maybe the time out the team has done him good.
  7. I've made my mind up on Morton now also. As you say he's a decentish player who will go on to have a reasonable career. But if you listen to his interviews and watch the way he plays, he's not that bothered whether we win or lose. He's here to get mins in his legs, he doesn't fully commit. He's just waiting to get back to Liverpool where he won't get a game. It's not even that he's on loan. Look at how committed Van Hecke was last year, as long as they throw themselves into it then it can be mutually beneficial. Saying that I still think he's in our strongest 11. I think he needs a rocket up arse and dropping him for a few might help in thay regard.
  8. Striker striker striker That's what we desperately need. Any other area needs to be put on the back-burner until its sorted. Then it's a dominant centre mid, a winger and left back.
  9. We've been alright here. Bar a couple of individual errors in the first 30 seconds. It's still very winnable, its just whether we've got enough quality in the box to take these chances. If only Dack could finish his own passes we'd be fine.
  10. Kaminski JRC. Ayala Hyam. Pickering Morton Garrett Markanday Dack. Hedges Brereton Subs: Pears, Wharton, Carter, Wharton, Travis, Gallagher, Vale.
  11. I don't think JDT gets enough credit for how well organised he's got us defensively. Previously under Mowbray we could only be defensively sound by sticking men behind the ball and playing 5 at the back.
  12. Think the he wasted the golden generation narrative is a bit harsh. The golden generation was largely gone/ way past it this time around (although they should've got out of that group). 2018 they beat Brazil in the quarters and then got beat by good France team in the semis. 2016 was the real missed opportunity but that wasn't martinez it was wilmots in charge
  13. I'm not sure many prem clubs would gamble on stewart after 6 months in the championship and a huge chunk of them injured. I think that's workable if there's money there.
  14. I'm hoping that's just a ploy to get closer to £10mil than £5mil. Otherwise it's a bit silly.
  15. I agree. We may not be crying out for a centre half right now but we could quite easily be in 6 months. Ayala is great but his lack of pace can be targeted JPVH would be an upgrade imo. Also whartons current form has been poor, I like him but I'm not sure he'll ever be better than 1st reserve (in a theoretical promotion side) It's about finding value. Who's the jest player can we get for the least amount of money or as they are thinking who can we sell on in a few years for some decent money.
  16. To extent they did. They kept hold of the 3 out of contract players without selling them. They brought in Hedges, Zeefuik and Giles just none of them worked at the time. The huge issue was Mowbrays stubborn refusal to sign a striker. Money was apparently available but Mowbray stubbornly decided not prioritise a position where we were light. Basically if Diaz got injured we were screwed. And then it happened and he just shrugged his shoulders.
  17. Really surprised by that response from what (little) Ive seen of Mola. What have you seen that makes you think he's best as a left sided midfielder?
  18. It's was about half that as Mola, Morton and Hirst are loans. Hyam has been a massive success. SS is not for me and has been taking playing time away from dack and brittain I like a lot but the injurys are a concern. We really need another striker as Hirst and Vale aren't up to it.
  19. Don't think we are that bad tbh. Some poor decision making in the final 3rd mostly. Look suspect in transition especially when they give the ball away deep. Thought we moved it out from the back well in the first 30 mins or so. Last 10 it's gone a bit sluggish. I thought booed off at half time was a bit harsh.
  20. That game was a shambles. But Glen referenced the whole lot. The whole lot isn't that bad. Especially considering the whole venkys period.
  21. Each to their own Glen but I just don't get this feeling at all. We've been bad at times but I've seen much worse.
  22. We played with 10 men for nearly a half against a good side. Think criticism of JDT has been over the top. Doesn't mean we can't ask questions. Like why garrett? Why not use the bench more. The introduction of Travis and garrett was aimed at getting us to be more aggressive. If we'd taken risks we'd have got picked off, that's the reality of playing with 10 men. I know JDT has lost a lot of faith with some really poor insipid performances but reality is we lost last night due to a combination of Buckley and the officials. We are 3rd (somehow), we've got a run of winnable games coming up, let's not sharpen the knives too prematurely.
  23. Going to stick to the positives. Thought we played well first half and deserved that lead. Some elements looked to be clicking into gear and we could've had a couple more if Gally had been on song. Thought JDT made a good tactical move having JRC and Hedges go man to man, nullifying them down their left. I'll leave everyone else to pick through the bones of the rest
