That *was* the January Window

Centre mid options: Tronstad - very good imo JRC -needed elsewhere on the park / gets injured Garrett - not had a run of games playing deeper. He's got something but I'm not convinced. Would be a massive step down in quality from Wharton. Ayari. - little experience /not our player Buckley - currently injured and hasn't played much all season. Will take a while to get back up to speed. The lack of cover from tronstad is alarming. -

It'll be the promise that next window is the one where they'll get the money. Then that'll fall through for whatever reason. A never ending cycle. -

We desperately need cover for tronstad. Another cm is a must now. -

Is it 5 loan players in the match day squad isn't it? Someone at rovers needs to be keeping track of this because someone is missing out at this rate. -

I feel very angry and frustrated. Its nice that this website exists, where people who feel the same can console each other. Thanks to the guys who run it, you do a great job. So that's my tiny silver lining. I love this club, I hate what this club has become and I weep for the future of the club. Strangley the McGuire fiasco has upset more than any loss in our current poor league form. Logically I know I should give up on the club but in my heart I know I never will, I must have some self destructive tendencies or maybe I'm just an addict. Pasha out, waggott out and most Importantly Venkys out. -
Can anyone expand on the claims that Adam has been 'pushed out the door'?

This. Suhail is the one, venkys wouldn't notice. He wants to work in the shadows. We shouldn't let him. -

I don't love it or hate it. It's cover till the end of the season. To me it indicates we will continue with a back 3/back 5. Makes sense not to panic buy now and make 4 or 5 quality signings in the summer. Assuming the AW money doesn't go into a big black hole (most likely scenario). -

We had a good run earlier in the season with a cm of JRC and tronstad. Wouldn't mind that again but JRC is currently needed at right wing back or right cb in the current system and at right back in the 4-2-3-1. If we are commiting to playing this new shape then a pacey right wing back would really help to allow JRC to play inside -

Ennis arrived unfit. Kept picking up niggling injuries and since he's been fit hasn't been favoured. Apart from a goal vs Walsall and a good cameo in the 2nd game of the season away at Rotherham he's been awful. But... he cost us nothing. He's on a long contract but I'd imagine if we were willing to waive a transfer fee we could get him off the books to a Bolton. So it's not the worst signing ever, it's just clogging up the wage budget atm. Telalovic - I just don't see it, he'll never make it here imo, he's playing above his level. He was a last minute punt when GB realised we needed another striker with no budget available. His positioning has improved but the games too quick for him and he lacks the technical ability. At least he tries, can't knock him for that. if we get mcguire in I'd happily let both go and write it off as a couple of bad punts. Leonard is better than both imo and would be 3rd choice striker. -

If tronstad gets injured or suspended we are genuinely in trouble in cm. I'm not usually one for loan signings but a cm loan until the summer would really help here. By then you've got Buckley fit again and Travis back from Ipswich and we can reasses. -

£20 million guaranteed for Wharton to just start the conversation. That can be up front or installments. Any less and I think we are selling ourselves short. Personally not as bothered about a cut of his next deal, I'd rather have an extra 5-7.5 million guaranteed and 5-10% of his next deal as opposed to 30-40% of his next deal. -

Nah you can't just take away szmodics from him. Give him stick cos some of these signings aren't upto it at all but he pulled the trigger on szmodics. -

I thought JDT got it wrong today. He's changed the shape to make us harder to beat and get a bit more athleticism in the side. It worked until Carter went off and they suddenly it all looked off. It felt to me that the change of shape didn't make us more defensively sound and took away a lot of our attacking movement and ball rotations (the one thing we do well). I thought that was partly to blame for the poor performance of the usually reliable tronstad who didn't seem to know who to pass to today. Ironically of all the goals we've conceded recently today's was the least offensive, cracking ball in from Thomas (where was that last season!). It just frustrating it was another corner. From where I was sitting, it was only some really poor finishing from huddersfield that got us a point. I said before the game that if we won today it would set up an okay 2nd half of the season. I must say I'm worried now. If the manager can't get work with what he's got or isn't prepared to work within the austerity project, then he should resign. He's missed a trick not doing so in the summer. I remain a fan of his but I'm not convinced he's the asset he was in our current situation. -

I don't think we need 2 centre backs we just need one good one. We need a starting striker. We need a right winger (allowing us to move markanday on) We need a reliable keeper. Which can't have been part of the original plan but would be top of my list. -

I think we will win today, I also think we will win a few of the next 3 home games after this one also. A few reasons for this: We are getting bodies back in, Gallagher and pears (neither who I rate) undoubtedly strengthen the side. JRC likely off the bench strengthens us. If the villa lad on loan is half decent it gives us an extra option. Suddenly your bench options are looking stronger and we can afford to make more than 2 changes. We've got a week between each game, allowing more time on the training pitch and less fatigue issues. The run of games we've got are very favourable. I know our home record is poor but if you'd asked me to pick a run of games to get us out of a bad run I'd pick this. This is the first consistent bad run we've had under JDT (end of last seasons run of draws the only other, but that was mainly through lack of goals). I think we will revert back the mid table side that we are, starting with a win today. Can we continue to keep defending this badly? However if we don't win today I will be very very worried. For both league position, the managers position, the morale of the fan base. Its a big game for us. -

Disagree with what you say about Mowbray. When we nose dived during his last season that was in part due to him religiously sticking to the same shape despite not having the same personel available and form continuing to drop. Culminating in the famous Bradley Johnson up front at home to Derby.
