  1. Going to stick to the positives. Thought we played well first half and deserved that lead. Some elements looked to be clicking into gear and we could've had a couple more if Gally had been on song. Thought JDT made a good tactical move having JRC and Hedges go man to man, nullifying them down their left. I'll leave everyone else to pick through the bones of the rest
  2. I think it'll be on. Snow is melting pretty quick and not much ice down the road in chorley. Slap some grit on the pavements and it should be fine
  3. I'd have morton and garrett off before I had Travis off. They've been very loose in possession
  4. Kaminski Carter Phillips Wharton Mola Buckley garrett Markanday dack dolan Hirst/vale
  5. Anyone know how that straight red for dack will affect his availability?
  6. We have won every game this season when we have taken the lead this season. In fact we have not conceded a single equaliser when we've taken the lead. We have already won 12 games. Thus we are good at defending leads. Very good infact. A great strength Yes it wasn't pretty on the eye. I felt Vale in particular didn't hold it up particularly well to allow us to get up the pitch. But the above is pretty hard to deny.
  7. Left back and striker for me. Also would like them to look at improving the backup to Kaminski. Still think that's a complete season buster should the worse happen.
  8. I've been finding this odd for a while. So many songs about Burnley. Top of the league and some have nothing else to chant about.
  9. The main question is who replaces Travis. I think Phillips should he replaced by Carter, who I think is ready and has played well when called upon, Phillips doesn't look fully able to justify a starting spot plus has struggled with fitness in back to back games thus far. For Travis replacement, I think most would agree that he's likely to stick with the 3-5-2 which gave us better control in midfield especially first half on Saturday. Options: Garrett - most like for like in terms of style, looks good for the under 23s. However is untested and would make for an incredibly young midfield trio. Dack - needs a run of games and this is the available slot. Could be a good attacking option, morton to sit deep dack to give more support to the front 2. Problem would be that he doesn't really have the legs for it. Buckley - better suited to a 3 man midfield than a 2. Looks really out of form though. Hedges - Mr versatility, unlucky to be dropped In the first place. Neat and tidy, works hard but he's not played there for us before. Would be my guess as to who JDT picks. Edun - energy and mobility. Which you need with a touch that bad. Rankin costello- would be the sadomastic choice.
  10. Kaminski Brittain Hyam Wharton Pickering Hedges Travis Wharton Dolan Dack Brereton Subs: Pears, Carter, Mola, Buckley, Morton Markanday, Gallagher
  11. Edun? Really??? That's an overreaction. Would be more than happy with the rest of it
  12. Some thoughts: We aren't playing how JDT layed out at the start of the season We didn't play with any noticeable style yesterday at all. No balance between midfield and defence. If we are in fact trying to play short passing through the middle then we might need Wharton in for Travis. I gave Mowbray pelters for continually playing gally on the wing. JDT continues to play gally there and worse he played hirst there who is even less suitable Mortons last two games have highlighted the benefits and drawbacks of taking a prime Premier league youngster Szmodics to me seems like the attacking midfield version of Jordan Rhodes, can't do anything until he gets the ball around the box, doesn't pass the eye test. We play narrow which must contribute to the ponderous play at the back. When BBD pulled wide towards the end he opened that channel up between rb and cb. If we can sell Brereton in January then the team will be in big trouble. I won't pay money to watch us away from home again for a while.
  13. What I don't quite understand is JDT keeps coming out and criticising the tempo and the way we are passing out from the back. Yet we continue to play in this way. There is no obvious advantage to what we are doing at the moment but yet there is quite a lot of downside. I remember watching arsenal away at Liverpool last season, and their passing put from the back against a Liverpool press was equally suicidal and they got hammered. Arteta and the players refused to change tact and afterwards arteta basically said they've got to get used to playing this way. It works for them a lot more now as they stuck through a rocky patch. I also note that all the top teams in the world pretty much pass out from the back. Does this mean we can be successful playing this way? I remain unconvinced. If we don't get better at it soon then we are going to throw away more points like last night and frankly it makes for a pretty hard watch.
  14. On Buckley, I was keen on his move to cm before the season started but he hasn't looked comfortable there thus far. I would consider him and dack for the 10 slot. Then bring back a.wharton to challenge morton for the other cm slot. Szmodics I'd bin off completely.
  15. For me: Kaminski Brittain Hyam Ayala Pickering Travis Morton Hedges Dolan Brereton Gally
  16. Fair play to Pickering I've given him some stick recently but he played well tonight. Similarly dolan imotessed tonight and has stepped up with another assist after going through a period of stagnation. Carter is a player and good back up for Brittain. I'm very happy with the 4 Centre half's we've got.
  17. Looks like there's a good chance now that it will be on Upto the individual bodies to choose, rugby league and I think Union going ahead too on Saturday. Cricket likely to resume on Saturday too.
  18. Just don't think the two are interlinked personally. Nobody is saying that the death of the monarch is less important than a football game its just that one happening on a Thursday should have any baring on some of the mass entertainment on a Saturday. There might be a need for police redeployment but that's largely limited to London area. As I said earlier, pubs won't shut, clubs won't shut, shops won't shut, TV won't stop. Why some sport? Theirs criticism of the desire to gets game on yet nobody seems offer a reason as to why or how it shows respect.
  19. Okay so how does cancelling Saturdays fixtures two days afterwards affect that? I don't get the link i really don't. Pubs and clubs won't shut, shops will stay open but the football must stop? Why? Feels like its assumed that it should just to mark how significant the event is.
  20. The more I think about it the more that it frustrates me. I just don't get what the point is.
  21. Efl to discuss with the government tomorrow. With the stoppages due to covid and the fixture pile up as it is they've really got to play these games. United playing at home as I type. Less than 2 hours after he death was announced. Surely that sets a precedent here, if they don't call that off then why should they cancel Saturdays games. Also notice how the golf and the cricket have only suspended play for tomorrow at the moment.
