I felt if we had Chapman instead of Conway second hald we would've won that game. I find it really painful watching Conway these days. He's clearly past it, sad to see.
-
I thought Barrow was recalled by Swansea at the end of August or start of September because they were short on wingers
-
I can he's not the player he was at Palace.
-
My team; Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Bell Smallwood, Bennett, Palmer Dack Rothwell Armstrong Subs: Leutwiler, Downing, Travis, Evans, Conway, Nuttall, Graham. A few thoughts; keep Armstrong up front try and use his pace on the counter. wide men to play a bit narrower and congest the middle. Keep the creativity going from Rothwell, Palmer and Dack. Sack Samuel off completely because I don't rate him. Bennett and Smallwood would cover more ground and provide more aggression than Evans so I've gone for those two. Graham is a very handy option off the bench

What kind of striker is Ben Brereton? anybody seen much of him?
-
Agree, I really would take a gamble on Chapman if we can get him. He's a game changer
-
I agree with TruRover that we should be targeting a good cup run. I just think with Carlisle being so poor that we can get away with playing a second 11 of sorts. Or at least those who need some game time. I'd go Leutwiler Travis Downing Williams Bell Davenport Whittingham Armstrong Palmer Rothwell Nuttall Subs: Raya, Lenihan, Nyambe, Bennett, Conway, Samuel, Dack,

Transfer Window - Success or Failure
BlackburnEnd75 replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Its hard for me to judge at this point how successful we've been as there's still scope for us to fix a few things with a few loans to buy. As I've noted in other threads i'm not as doom and gloom as others but i'd rate the window as a 6 out of 10 so far. But judging from Mowbray's comment at the start of the window it looked like we wanted 6 transfers in total; 4 permanents and 2 loans which we haven't got. Positives: - New contracts for Dack and Lenihan - Didn't lose anybody we wanted - Davenport; was a great surprise when we got him on a permanent transfer rather than a loan. Looks a strong piece of business for us although he won't go into the first 11 straight away. Centre Mid was been one of our weaker areas for some time so hopefully he's the long term solution. - Palmer; On paper a very good loan signing. Although I don't like developing other teams players he is a lot better than I expected us to get. He's highly rated, has some experience in the Prem, has experience getting out of this league, Can play in more than one position so gives us options. -Armstrong; Was very pleased we've got him. Good price (£1.75million) for this market, he's only, 21 has bags of pace, can slot straight into the side. I didn't expect us to spend this much one player - We've not overpaid for anyone (eg. £2million for a cb in league 1 with one year left on there contract) - If we end up with Gallagher and Chapman on loan with a permanent agreed for January then that for me would make it a good window. - As the squad stands I think its good enough to stay up which is the minimum requirement. Even if Danny Graham gets a bad injury Negatives - We didn't get players in early enough in the window. - We've not shifted any deadwood out yet, loan or otherwise (Gladwin, Hart, Caddis, Whittingham) which to be fair is tough - Scott Warton went on loan to league 2 when he could should be playing in League 1 (If we'd got a centre back in early on then he would've gone to league 1) - Rothwell; I don't get this signing, thought Payne looked a better bet than him. Not sure where he fits it tbh. Doesn't seem to be a centre mid, he didn't impress out wide in pre-season and we've got better options there, and Palmer is a better option in the hole. Was he a stop gap in case we didn't get anyone else? If someone can explain this one to me a bit more i'd like to hear it! - No Striker (as of yet) - we are desperate for a back for Graham, we all know this. - No Winger/ wide player - we have a lot of options out wide when you count them up, but not that many natural wide players, would've liked to have one more quality wide player or someone like Chapman who has x-factor. Disappointing but we can live without. - No Commanding CB - could be a big issue if we get an injury to Lenihan or Mulgrew. Also we need to be preparing for Mulgrew to leave in the summer. - We actually had plans and targets for a transfer window and it hasn't worked - We moved for a lot of players in the last few days of the window and got nobody - thus getting everyone hopes up and not delivering - We play the poor card but now teams know we've got up to £million to spend Have I missed anything? -
But it’s not the last minute though is it? In effect if we structure deals correctly we’ve got until 31st
-
I agree about building a team on loans, Plenty of time to agree loan deals with permanent fee in place. We definitely need another striker. But it looks it will either have to be a loan with an option to buy or just a straight loan option. Can we survive with what we've got for the next 7-10 days? Yes we can. We aren't short of players that can play out wide atm, Bennett, Palmer, Rothwell, Conway, Armstrong, Samuel. Obviously we'd like another option (personally would like an out and out winger). Still think we will end up with Chapman as well on loan. I'm surprised by people reaction on here a bit. I'm not sure what people expected? I wouldn't be criticising Mowbray or anyone else at the club until we've concluded our business which won't be until 31st August

With Three weeks of the window left, I feel this is a massive overreaction.
-
This! People panicking over nothing on here
-
Any team that loses their top 2 attacking players are going to be in trouble. Palmer is back up for Dack as a 10 and can push for a start out wide so we are stronger there. Rothwell or Davenport could force their way in over the next few months in CM. Anyways we aren't risking getting by until January with what we have. The loan window doesn't shut until the end of the month and we'll just pick someone up there on a loan to buy or just a loan. I'd rather we not spend money for the sake of it.
-
Jesus, overreact much? We've still got till the end of the window to get loans in. Even if we're stuck with what we've got till January its not a total disaster, cheer up!

I'd go Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Smallwood Davenport Armstrong Dack Bennett Graham Subs: Leutwiler, Williams, Travis, Rothwell, Conway, Palmer, Nuttall General thoughts Williams had a funny game last weekend, got skinned a few times thought he got caught out at the back post for the opener but had a hand in both goals especially the second. Bell and Bennett down the left on paper is a good combo and Bell is due a run of games. Tony will keep the faith with Williams though. Evans played okay last week, but i'd rather see the new lad play. Evans will most likely start anyway Samuel I just cba with anymore, thought Nutall did okay last week so i'd have him keep his place on the bench provided we don't get the back up striker we need and loan him before Saturday. Would like to see Travis get some game time.

I would go with; Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Smallwood Travis Samuel Dack Bennett Graham Bench. Leutwiler, Williams, Conway, Davenport, Rothwell, Palmer, Nuttall Palmer off the bench second half. I'd expect this to be similar to what Mowbray will pick except he will go with Evans ahead of Travis and Willaims ahead of Bell. -
Barrow was here for 5 or 6 games
-
Spot on!
-
I read it as that also. Thought he was indicating that chapman and Armstrong were on most likely the B list
-
Ooo you big tease

Minimum requirement is a Striker and a Winger, both who are able to go straight into the team if needs be, then i'm confident we will stay up. Ideal would be 2 Wingers a striker and someone like Armstrong who you could use out wide and up top and also has raw pace. I had been more concerned about getting Pace out wide but actually the striker issue is more pressing. We can't guarantee Graham being in top form and being able to play 75 mins every game from now until January. Just won't happen, he's got a bad record with injuries, it takes him a while to get going (get fit enough) at the start of the season, He's not getting any younger and his lack of mobility is going to be more of an issue for us in this league. That means we'd be relying on Samuel whose couldn't score in League 1 and the manager doesn't trust up front. Nuttall who isn't ready for this level yet. Dack plays like a second striker at times so you need someone who can bring him into play. I know a few on here have been quite negative about Resigning Sam Gallagher on loan but I'd be all over a loan to buy deal for him. Hes got the raw tools to be a good striker, he had decent pace, he's tall, he can head (albeit when he's unchallenged) and he's got the right attitude. He's got a lot improving to do but I think he'd a be a more mobile target man option. Wingers - I'd take Chapman back at the right price. I was led to believe that Armstrong hold up is his wage. Maddison would be great if its within budget.

Hate this Kit. Really don't like the shade of blue far far too pale. Also the Logo is too big and an eyesore.
-
Personally I think It should be a sack-able offence. I know it isn't but it should be.
-
Even if he was fit, he should be nowhere near the first team. Let him train on his own until he's fit and hope someone from league 1 takes him. Wouldn't even put him with the under 23's, poor professionalism and would just take the spot of some young lad who has ambitions higher than being a pub player And if they don't then put him on gardening leave. If we're stuck with him on the books then I'd rather pay him to not play for us.
-
I'd rather give Scott Wharton a chance. On the surface seems like a signing someone for the sake of filling a squad place.
