  1. A leak? or pure wikipedia nonesense? Scroll down the link to England's forthcoming fixtures, 7th June, England vs. Romania at Brammall Lane or Ewood Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_national_football_team Has someone made something up? Would be brilliant to have England in town, obviously they won't use Wembley as its a Euro 2020 warm up game, but what a coup it would be!! Last England international at Ewood - vs. Wales on 3rd March 1924 Alexandra Meadows (home of East Lancs Cricket Club) and Leamington Road also have hosted England matches within the town, back in the 1880s.
  2. I thought Maddison looked awful on Tuesday night. Gave the ball away so many times, maybe he was trying too hard, but didn't look good enough for us (admittedly based on one appearance).
  3. My uncles brother. I remember him telling me some of the old stories from his London Branch days, away trips around the capital, the annual meals and a particularly funny story of him hiding in a shop on the Kings Road after being caught up at the infamous 1988 Chelsea v Middlesbrough playoff final 2nd leg (which included Stuart Ripley and captained by a young Tony Mowbray) Proper Blackburnian, loved his real ale and the Rovers. Will be sorely missed.
  4. I would doubt it at this stage..... Its on the Red Button isn't it? Even I could be tempted into giving this one a miss....its pretty grim out there!
  5. I think 'The Tony Parkes Suite/Lounge' replacing the name of the 'Legends Lounge' or more likely the 'Premier Suite'. And recognition in the Hall of Fame (which is this year?)
  6. First of the interesting home games to come before the end of the season, which should not only decide any playoff ambitions, but also go a way to showing how competitive we'd even be if we managed to sneak into the top 6. Saturday - Fulham (3rd) *Then after Hull (14th) and Stoke (21st)* 29th February - Swansea (8th) 14th March - Bristol City (6th) 4th April - Leeds United (2nd) 13th April - West Bromwich Albion (1st)
  7. Wasn’t it him who falsely accused Jay Rodriguez of racism?
  8. Feels like the January window is becoming less impactful each year. not just for us, but for most teams. Best January window? 2007 - Samba, Warnock, Dunn, Berner Last 10 January Windows 2010 - Lingazi, Basturk 2011 - Rochina, Formica, Jones (loan), Santa Cruz (loan) *2012 - Marcus Olsson, Orr, Modeste *2013 - King, Kane (loan) *2014 - Cairney, Gestede, Conway *2015 - Steele, Spearing (loan) *2016 - Bennett, Jackson, Ward, Graham (loan), Watt 2017 - Joao (loan), Emnes (loan) 2018 - P Downing, Bell, Armstrong (loan), Payne (loan) 2019 - Chapman * - Years where loans could be made until end of March
  9. 43 points with 17 games to go... Same as we were this time last year after beating Hull. Will Middlebrough away be Brentford all over again? As said, 74 points is the likely minimum requirement for the playoffs, so another 10 wins still needed
  10. Downing had all the time in the world last week against Preston, against combative midfielder Ben Pearson, good players always find time and space. I think he's been very good for us and you can definitely see why he's played at the top level and for England.
  11. 25th Anniversary and all that.....makes sense. Plus one final reminder that we've won the Premier League.....before the Liverpool mob hop on the bandwagon
  12. As I put in the first post....The first group in the Hall of Fame were all players (I know Crompton was Player/Manager). Maybe the second group will be made up of 'non players' e.g. Jack Walker, Kenny Dalglish, Robert Middleton, Graeme Souness and Tony Parkes (for his non playing role at the club)
  13. I really do feel as though the season is already meandering to a mid table finish. Would love it if Mowbray tried a couple of the younger ones who haven't had an opportunity yet, ala Davenport or Fisher, but can't see it happening just yet.
  14. From memory, a fractured eye socket saw Stig Inge Bjornebye's spend a long time out of the side (6 months plus IIRC)
  15. If only we could adopt a Special Teams kicker like in the NFL, who could come on simply to take set pieces!!!
  16. Barcelona sack their manager when top of La Liga.... The most self righteous team in World Football strikes again.
  17. If Maddison does well at Charlton the board may go into meltdown!!
  18. No players should be booed, but my word... Brereton and Gallagher were desperately poor. A Leutweiler howler completes a pretty rotten festive period!
  19. My memory may be a little hazy, having only been 5 at the time, but I think Shearer did his ligament on Boxing Day against Leeds and was back for us by the September/October period? Goal away at Newcastle off the bench? Edit:
  20. Mowbray isn’t without his faults, but his latest comments go worry me. I still think he’s got the backing of the players and is involved with the club for the right reasons, even if we’re going through an up and down patch at the moment (2019 has been very mixed). I really do fear we’re still a club built on poor foundations. Mowbrays honesty and pragmatism shouldn’t be taken for granted. I don’t think it would take much for us to slide back into League One.
  21. We’ll see on Thursday when we take on a team with a decent record (Cowboys in Dallas). Credit to us for winning matches we should win though. Supporting Rovers for 25+ years has taught me you don’t always wins the ones you should!!! ?
  22. Cracking article for the statto's (like me) on England's 1000 games. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50340459 According to the article, 48 Blackburn Rovers players have represented England.... without looking......can we name them?
