No Kargbo ? Where is he up to injury wise ? -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
DavidMailsTightPerm replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
His refusal to pick players that he has evidently fallen out with (like Pickering) is making a bad situation worse. Watching last night showed how poorly coached we are - when playing a high press you have to ensure you are set up for when they break that high press. Time and time again, they broke the high press and then went through our non- existant midfield like a knife through butter. This was Swansea, a mid to lower Championship team not b£%%^y Arsenal. -

TBH - this is where we find out if any small way Gestede lives up to his title - as any other DOF would get rid of Ismail. (Before anyone says it - I appreciate Gestede is part of the problem - but he has the chance to show for once he can live up to his job title) -

Team selection was strange given the experience on the bench (Pickering etc). -

Though I am confused how referees now judge what is a push and what isnt (not just this match, but generally) at least Ismail cant blame the referee this time. -

I have some sympathy - he is just knackered. He has been run into the ground. -

Gotta wonder whether all the injuries are down to over training. -

Injuries or not - Ismail has to go -

But if he gives penalty, that player is potentially sent off (not certain of where league are with double jeopardy these days). I think you totally miss my point though - just saying as crap as we were we could have got a result (no matter deserved or not). My point was mainly how crap the Championship is that Ipswich are in the top 6. -

No - but that play wouldnt have happened if he had given earlier decisions. -

I think you can blame ref for not giving a clear push on Ohashi, or a clear elbow in Cantwells face. That isnt to take blame off Ismail. -

A match thrown away - we were poor, but without yet more inept refereeing we may have got a result. It shows how poor the Championship is, that Ipswich could get automatic promotion - as they were no great shakes. -

I can see him as left wing back -

Shocking - Rathbone takes Hedges out - not even a free kick - Millar gets ball and is booked. Looks like the referee is as awful as us. -

Though no on can say Gueye is a world beater - I do think Ismails man management of him has been awful - especially at a time when we need all the bodies we can get. -

Dont think Wrexham are that good - we are just awful. I will concede Wrexham have a bigger squad to mix things up - but the lack of effort is shocking. -

Sheff Weds have had some decent results against half decent teams this season - inter mingled with some/more awful results. As with all Championship games - nothing is a given. We were the dominant team for the majority of the match - maybe my glass is half full because I expected us to get beat 1-0 to a sucker punch goal such was our dominance at times (without doing the important bit of putting the ball in the back of the net) -

Strange isnt it - take away his awful shooting (which could, in part, be down to the injury he seems to be playing with) - I actually thought he had a reasonable match. I also like the look of Baradji - be interesting to see how he develops as he builds up his match fitness (if he doesnt get injured) -

Salah has lost his edge of pace - and IMO is the one player that needs to be dropped at the moment. It is amazing how much they miss Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diaz. But at the moment teams have figured how to play against Liverpool - as they seem unable to play past a high press - and after passing it around the defence mostly end up playing long ball.. For all the money they spent - losing out on Guehi is really hurting them. -

We have relegation written all over us - Ismail is right that we have been unlucky in a number of matches, including tonight - but the truth is we have a distinct lack of quality. A high risk recruitment policy leaving too many untested players bedding in at the same time. We may yet escape if players start to click - but I fear it will be too late with morale getting lower and lower. Cant fault the effort - but Ismail needs to go (even if it isnt entirely his fault) -

Not surprised - but if I were Rovers I would tell the EFL that if the loss of three points mean we get relegated (or less likely) miss out on the chance of promotion we reserve the right to take them to court for loss of earnings. -

Playing the last 10 minutes will actually favour Ipswich - as they will have a fresh team (rather than one having played part of the match with 10 players). They will also have the opportunity to set up their team to best get an equaliser. So, though I agree it is the nearest we can get to fairness, still think Ipswich would get an advantage. However, all moot, as I think we will be ordered to replay (put money on Ipswich moaning about fixture congestion later in the season 🙂 )
