  1. And why did they have those chances in the 2nd half ? Possibly because we over committed in a vain attempt to over come the referees ineptitude ? We played poorly - but the referee fundamentally changed the flow of the match 1-1 and down to 10 men - would Hull have won, or would we be talking about how getting promoted needs playing below par but still winning ?
  2. So there 10 men would have still beat us ?
  3. Why is Nyambe out - two yellows one match ban ? Diaz in an Oxygen tank ?
  4. But they only won because of a totally inept referee. Penalty - potentially 1-1 - and down to 10 men - would have been a totally different match. Lets not forget - this was also at a time when our game was starting to come together and we had the ascendancy. Goals and refereeing decisions change the flow of matches - the idiots at Sky seem to ignore that.
  5. Anyone mention the fact that the Hull player was the last man - surely penalty and red card ? I said a while ago that we could be undone by poor refereeing - and tonight it came to haunt us. Lets be honest - we were at best ok - don't think that Hull are that good - but goals change matches - not just in the obvious way but in the flow of the match. Not certain if Davenport isn't 100% fit or has run over TM's cat - but couldn't understand Johnston rather than him (or even should have started). On the positive - we had to be beat some time - better it a team we aren't competing at the top for. Also - I thought Markanday showed some good touches when on the ball - Rothwell I thought was immense (but due to poor tactics in the wrong areas). Nyambe and (hopefully) Travis back for Monday should make all the difference - and off-set the loss of Diaz who has lost a little of his sparkle recently (though battled hard). TM tinkering, poor refereeing or too thin a squad - take your pick. Personally the referee decided the match more than TM or depth in the squad.
  6. Sky commentary is pants - referee decisions totally change the complexion of the game - idiots
  7. I agree about Davenport - especially as we have two wing backs more suited to going forward than defending.
  8. Never seen Hedges play - but I have seen somebody else mention that he could be an eventual replacement for Rothwell.
  9. I think it was only 1 match until Sky chipped in
  10. Though why would you advertise if you had money to spend ? (not saying we have money to spend, but look how Newcastle have been forced into over spending on average forwards 🙂 )
  11. I believe that Steve Kean may be available - he would be a fantastic fit for them 😉
  12. Maceo Rigters came to my mind 😉
  13. (Without wishing to tempt fate) The injury to Dack showed that there is no guarantee we will get £15m for BBD. I think what some fans who clamour for the club to spend millions to get promoted forget a few things. 1. Our current financial plight is partly down to spending big when we got relegated. 2. If we don't sell any of our soon to be out of contract players, or cash in on BBD at potentially his max value - we are writing off millions. That in itself shows some ambition. 3. It isn't that long ago that people wanted TM out - and few fans would have sanctioned giving him millions to spend. Half a good season doesn't change that. 4. Most fans have said our success is down to the togetherness of the group - with TM having limited options to tinker - forcing a settled team pattern. And yet some would risk that. I would like to see the odd quality player coming in - but there is a difficult balancing act.
  14. It isn't guaranteed - he will only have 1 year left on his contract at this point - plus we don't know how his form will be in the second part of the season.
  15. The modern full back is more than just a defender - so though being able to defend is primary - the other aspects are more important than they have ever been. One on one Nyambe is as good as anyone - but to be a top defender you also need good positional sense - and I feel he is often found wanting in this respect (especially occasionally at corners). Having said all that - I agree that with the money we have available we will struggle to bring in someone immediately as good.
  16. I think all this debate only proves one thing - combine the best attributes of each player and you would have a very good right back. Both players have weaknesses that stop them being complete players, but I suppose (especially for Nyambe) if he was a more naturally gifted footballer he would have left for better things ages ago.
  17. Yes - after initially impressing, Edun looks defensively poor when I have seen him play.
  18. I think it is virtually certain that we will sell BBD in the summer if we don't go up anyway. As with Armstrong I doubt it will be anywhere near the £25m plus we are currently talking about.
  19. Outstanding throughout the age groups - according to wiki played 3 matches for u20"s ?
  20. Jason Lowe England u21 captain - just saying 😉
  21. Funny - talking to a Fleetwood season ticket holder - he was amazed that Bournemouth were paying so much as he didn't particularly rate him.
  22. Sky are reporting that the owners have said no one is for sale. Of course this doesn't stop a players (agent) head being turned.
  23. Can't really see where I said the wheels had come off our season - please read the whole thing in context. Of course if you don't think injury/injuries or more bad refereeing could easily derail our season ?
