  1. I think very little, if any will be reinvested - I would imagine most will be used to avoid us running foul of FFP rules.
  2. He wasn’t there - whether that would have made a difference is open to debate.
  3. If we had won 5-0 would you be saying Mowbray is a wonderful manager - or more realistically, it is pre-season and doesn't mean a great deal. I am trying not to read too much into the result as it is all about the first match against Swansea - however todays match day squad does show how short we are in certain positions. It is interesting - as other than Elliott and Harwood Bellis we haven't really lost a lot from the 11 that departed - but we still need at least two or three first team players plus a couple of back ups.
  4. I thought by chance we ended up with a half decent defence - possibly other than left back (even Douglas looked on paper like a good loan at first). We were unlucky with injuries (especially Wharton). But, after collating what should have been a top 6 challenging team - he couldn't get the results. I also think defending isn't just about the defence - but about the team as a whole. So we possibly agree (of sorts) - but for me I would give him time to build - but last season IMO all the pieces were there.
  5. I totally agree - he slowly built a squad finally ready to challenge the top 6. Last season was the killer for me - prior to that I think he did a good job and made us more like a proper football club. But last season we massively underachieved - partly down to his management - but his excuses and cliches became tiresome (and that is with a positive spin). He needs to do what he always said he would - we have stalled, he isn't the man to take us forward, stand aside and let somebody new have a go.
  6. Lots of the older generation remember the old Ewood, having no money, being chuffed when we bought Norman Bell for £70k and then realising £70k doesn't buy a lot (even in those days). My expectations aren't particularly high - Jack provided memories I never thought I would have as a Rovers fan. All I want is a properly functioning club, and for Jack's legacy to be honoured.
  7. I have yet to renew - and the COVID impact is at the front of my mind. But again - this should have been part of the sales blurb from the club (i.e. if another lockdown - this is what will happen). They could even move to provide assurances for people who are concerned about coming back to the ground during the ongoing pandemic. The apparent lack of planning and information coming from the club around Season Tickets to help sell them is poor.
  8. And some of those fans will come on here having a go at the owners for not putting in more money 🙄 While the fan base declines as "rovers till I die" fans disappear - nobody seems to consider the worse case scenario. The owners may decide enough is enough and withdraw its annual support forcing a mass scaling back of the club, they dont necessarily have to sell, they could just let the club and its dwindling fan base slowly die.
  9. His agent obviously did a good job for his client
  10. Still doesn't make any difference - is the guy any good at his job - he had some stellar "finds" on his CV. Does he have a good overall hit rate for unearthing talent - is he any good ?
  11. Lancs live has an interesting article on him. TBH I have no idea whether he is good at his job or not - and for me that is the key rather than the fact that he once worked with TM at Celtic.
  12. I can see football being decimated by Covid. Delta variant plus removal of rules will mean far more self isolation than we previously seen. Government hide behind the vaccine - but it doesn't stop you getting it (or passing it on) as I have found myself.
  13. Please read the full thread of the conversation before spouting off , this was in response to the comment "I have never been more apathetic before a season". Personally I was more apathetic prior to another season under Kean than I have ever been under TM. Nothing to do with accepting mediciority, but hey why let details get in the way.
  14. I think you need to remember the Kean era
  15. Back in the Kean era we couldn't get an effective boycott - very much doubt there would be one now against owners that continue to put in circa £20m a season or a manager who is still held in fairly high regard by many. Personally I think he should go - but I still recognise the job he has done.
  16. Didn't do last time, so not certain why now would be any different. TBH I think TM got a bit of a pass last year with no fans in the ground - I am sure the natives would have been vocal considering the run we went on. Rather than boycotting - why not go to Ewood - cheer the boys on during the match - and then voice your displeasure towards TM at the end of the match (or half time if the mood suits you).
  17. Why ? Imagine we are in breach of FFP rules - having that confirmed to potential buyers of Armstrong won't exactly strengthen our position. Also, there may be some negotiation going on with the FL - again why publicise ?
  18. Can't see how you can blame TM - Hardwood Bellis has chosen to play under a City legend who will still have contacts at City which will do no harm for his career. Elliott has chosen to be a squad player at Liverpool - which was always his stated aim. He also has interest from a number of Premiership clubs. Why not congratulate TM and the recruitment team for getting in two very good youngsters last season ?
  19. I think his best position is part of a midfield 3 - which is the formation we played last season. Rothwell looks like a Rolls Royce when running with the ball - and I struggle to think of many better players doing that in his position. BUT - there is rarely an end product and his normal passing is very hit and miss. I keep waiting for him to show consistency - and I don't think you can just blame Mowbray for that.
  20. Dolan's performances dropped after the death of a close friend. Around this time he was left out of the team for compassionate reasons. This coincided with signing Elliott - which didn't help his path back into the team. If nothing else - I like his constant running off the ball - he showed when playing as a striker (when Armstrong was injured) how this helps the team as a whole. Hopefully he will continue to progress this season.
  21. He can be like a Rolls Royce drifting through the opposition midfield at times - but apart from occasional free kicks it rarely seems to lead to anything. He is also apt to give the ball away in dangerous positions. He is one of our more frustrating players - as he looks at times like a top Premiership player - but rarely over a full 90 minutes, usually in the same match he switches from premiership quality to League 1. I would still keep him though - as we have nobody like him in the squad.
  22. Though I agree he has to go - how does our budget compare to other championship clubs ?
  23. I think people forget that - how many people on here moaning at the LET actually buy it ? They have to tread a fine line - TM has already got prickly at even slight probing.
