Replay because of ‘misapplication of rules’ has precedent in England in non-league case, at least. However, if misapplication is applied to video refs, it opens up much more.

The ref apparently didn’t see Ivan Toney move the ball and the foam for his free kick goal against Forest. It could be argued that video refs did see and their inaction was a misapplication of the rules in a goal situation.

I saw a clip online of Dermot O’Leary answering questions on the Toney goal and he denied VAR can get involved but the seemingly deceitful way he avoided answering questions makes me doubt him.

Legally, refs were the final arbiters and given leeway for human error. That seems to be ending and as well as more legal challenges to results, I fear we will have ever growing stoppages in games as VAR is involved in every key decision and officials spend more time clarifying advice.

Sadly we are hurtling towards F1 levels of the result only being a preliminary classification 🤬

Clubs will employ video analysts to scour through games to find breaches and appeal for the game to be replayed as something did not comply with the letter of the law (not necessarily the intention of said law)

Unlikely. They've probably never heard of Wharton either. They may not even know there's an offer in for him. But they understand £20 million. And they'll thank their favourite son Steve Waggott on a job well done

Unless they have been told that he is /will be worth 50 million…

Not sure how these things work but surely we paid City for the use of their facilities and when Rangers pulled out we played whoever we could find or lose out (assuming a small amount of money).

Not sure we could charge someone to play against us when the friendly was for our benefit.

    Could be wrong though.

Sorry - thought that City were due to play Rangers from the beginning?

If I could target any position for a signing it would probably be right wing/forward. Someone with blistering pace and some tricks. It’s like playing with 10 men with Moran and Markandy out there.

Think Moran is suffering from not having Dolan on the pitch. SS, Dolan and Moran linked up well and Dolan did a lot of pressing that meant Moran had more space

I personally think defending set pieces is far more of an Achilles Heel and an area which opponents are targeting. Tomasson spoke last week about players winning personal battles and I agree with him. For example if our centre halves are designated markers from set pieces and their direct opponent wins the header then he has not done his job. Far too many or our capitulations have been because their opponent has won their individual battle all over the pitch. Until we get that sorted out we will continue to ship goals.

Gallagher winning a near post defensive header really highlighted that. Stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to what had gone before

Not if some scouts with serious interest wanted to watch him to assess his fitness before reporting back to their clubs then they can bid.

Not that i think it's the case here but behind closed doors games have been known for such purposes.

If true that Rangers pulled out at short notice then I wonder if we played the game partly to give returning players a run out but also for a fee for playing the match?
We seem that desperate for cash and SW would be unlikely to say no…

Why did the scouting not pick up that Leo couldn’t catch a fucking cold! Surely we watched him. Or was it just a case of seeing that someone had bid for him and not wanting to miss out.

stinks that we blew any money that we had on him when he looks very very poor. Can’t see him ever being any more than a back up.

Actually could see the potential and logic IF he was 20-21 but at 24 he should be further on to justify a fee.

Also to be fair - he has the Marx brothers defending in front of him and (yes I know it is bollox but…) statistically was way ahead of Pears prior to the weekend.

All that said - right now we need Pears to come in and Wahlstedt to work hard in training and maybe level up muscle wise…

I don't think Gallagher is going anywhere.

Money from his sale would not be reinvested, JDT and Gregg know this - so they won't let him go.

I suspect this is part of why Ennis must be loaned out and soon - easier to then argue that Gallagher is needed (numbers wise - ability is judged to be of secondary importance by our leadership)

  9. From a distance the current supporter discontent is more about recent results and our head coach not “parking the (presumably leased) bus” despite the bloody obvious lack of players capable of doing that and a point blank refusal from his bosses to recruit such players…

For whatever reason - even when he was grossly overachieving - many see JDT as a bigger problem than our bent owners, dumbed down operations and a CEO/leadership that does not want success on the pitch.

    Mindblowing 🤯

It wasn’t a sarcy Q BTW…that City game is my personal low point, though recently we’ve had Fulham (h), Rotherham (a) which are right up there.
I think we should be grateful WBA seemed satisfied with four today…

My wife suggested we could turn it round when Garrett scored - I told her that WBA would start trying again and score a 4th…
Didn’t have to wait long to hear the sweetest words in marriage - “you were right” 🥳
