Quality. They beat us 1-0 at Ewood with an early Robben goal but my god did we make them work for it that day. One of my early childhood memories on Ewood that game!

Newcastle United away in the League Cup

Like I said in my previous post, encouraging performance. The only thing that worries me is that Newcastle seemed to sit off for the majority of the game and look to hit us on the break, I can see Wycombe doing the same at Ewood on Saturday. I hope we can create more from of our dominance of the ball on Saturday and don’t get caught out like we have done in the past under Mowbray against “lesser” teams at Ewood. -

Encouraging performance, we bossed the play and the ball but couldn’t do much with it or really create any golden chances. Not a bad performance though overall. -

Exactly why we need to bring a backup striker in because if Armstrong got injured we’d be completely f****d. -
Fantastic signing, now all we need is a left back, a backup GK and a backup striker for Arma and we are in BUSINESS.
-
A lot to sort out then ?
-
After sorting the defence which hopefully we will, I’d rather us get another forward in than another central midfielder. If Armstrong got injured and we’d be left relying on Brereton and Gallagher we’d be in huge trouble.
-
I hope you’re right
-
Williams as a left back is atrocious but as a backup centre half I don’t honestly think he’s that bad. He had some decent games at centre half last season. Not bothered if he stays or goes but he has to play alongside Lenihan tomorrow for me. Doesn’t change the fact we NEED to bring a centre half and a left back in ASAP
-
Selling him for £3m will turn out to be one of the worst pieces of business this club has ever done I’m sure of it.
-
Yeah they really gave Bowyer, C**le and Lambert millions didn’t they ?
-
Our current squad will never make the top six but go down? Come on mate even I’m not that pessimistic Jesus ?
-
With all the current uproar you just know we’ll get a result on Saturday to shut us up, and then follow it up with a defeat at home to Wycombe and all hell will break loose ?

Season Predictions 2020-2021
Butty replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
IF we bring a centre half and a left back in and we avoid any bad injuries I think we’ll finish about 10th maybe. The squad as it currently stands would probably finish 14th-17th. -
I’m sure it’s been mentioned but Callum Wilson joining Newcastle for £20m. With that being said you’d expect Josh King to go for a similar amount, might give us a bit of cash to play with for the back end of the window.
-
It’s not exactly something we’ve done ourselves in recent times though is it, walking away when a clubs demands are too high. We paid Southampton 5 Million for Sam Gallagher and we paid Forest 8 million for Ben Brereton ?
-
We spent £12 million on Brereton and Gallagher. People in glass houses....
-
So he’s basically Jason Lowe? No Thankyou
-
He’s played for both Sunderland and Middlesbrough so he’s basically Mowbray’s wet dream of a centre half with all that North East connection.
-
There’s only one man on here who has ever consistently delivered with transfer news and it’s @unleaded
-
Well if I’ve read it wrong then I can see why we are interested in him. Mowbray doesn’t like actual defenders does he he’d rather have a Toisin than a Samba that’s for sure.
-
I’ve seen Naby Sarr’s name mentioned today, if Kipre doesn’t happen I wouldn’t be against us signing him. Extremely popular with Charlton supporters. He’s not technically gifted but he’s 6 foot 5 and is a solid defender, forget playing out from the back, Toisin was amazing on the ball but for me the first thing you want from a Centre half is for them to win tackles and head the ball away, Sarr is capable in that regard I believe. Free agent as well so it’s a no brainer.
-
Was poor for us in league one and should never have been playing for us at any point in the championship. Good luck to him though.
-
Worth the risk for me and to be fair even a Cunningham at 70% of his previous ability is still streets ahead of Bell at left back. Let’s hope he is the same player, and speaking of injuries let’s hope Dack comes back at the same level as well.
-
It’s sad but I honestly believe if we won 3 games in a row 5-0 at Ewood we wouldn’t see that much of a difference, we’ve lost 10,000 home supporters who I can’t ever see returning unless we get back to the Prem and even then I don’t know. #VenkysOut always ??
