  1. A really weird, out of the blue one from a pal at work (same guy who told me Venus left 2-3 weeks ago): Robbie Keane as a 'name', and keeps the Boro links alive 😅
  2. 1864Marketing 101: Only Rovers supporters make racist comments in the Mail online.
  3. I value Williams' contributions as much as we all do, but looking back a bit... What were his qualifications to run a football club when he was appointed? I genuinely don't know. I vaguely feel like he came from Granada TV or something m
  4. I personally think a Venky on the ground could be an important step forward in having proper communication between the club and the owners, AND I would hope it can begin to build a bridge with a fanbase that (myself included) reckons they're a bunch of pillocks.
  5. Come on @1864roverite, you must know this one seeing as you seem to know everything else (apart from the difference between a leaflet and a renewal pack, it seems).
  6. Floodlights. Fucking hell, it sends shivers down you.
  7. That's interesting because you never have before. You usually quote from the Alan Nixon Big Book of Excuses. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing the info either way 🤷
  8. I don't understand why it's weird. It's one of the most normal/sensible things this club has done in a while. Might as well save paying them off by leaving them in place until a new manager decides whether he wants them or not.
  9. It seems sensible enough to me. Rather than just binning them off, let the new manager consider whether to keep them or not.
  10. That 7m 'we get back' isn't profit. The alleged sell-on is %age of profit, not sale.
  11. That 7m 'we get back' isn't profit. The alleged sell-on is %age of profit, not sale.
  12. Look how many Rovers fans have (very genuinely) compared Mowbray to Souness and Hughes.
  13. Cough Rovers Trust Marketing Prospectus Cough 😉
  14. Any Rover should be supporting Atletico Bilbao
  15. No. I think it's silly, but not offensive. And even if I did, it's still not offensive to boo your OWN anthem imo. I think Liverpool fans booing our anthem is silly too (achieves nothing), but I understand the reason for it and if it makes them feel better it's no skin off my nose. Let's not get all weird and American about an old song in the same way they get pissy about their flag or that fascistic 'Pledge', shall we not? There are more important things in the world than booing an establishment song; things that (like this discussion probably, my mistake) belong in the Politics thread.
  16. One person's excuse is another person's reason. My question is how does booing the anthem actually affect anyone in any way? If it causes you offence, I'd argue that the reason for the booing was much more offensive to humanity than the booing itself. Disagree with it, by all means, but there's far from 'no excuse'.
  17. They are up in arms, though?
  18. To be fair, had it been Rovers and the town of Blackburn, we'd all feel exactly the same, wouldn't we? If 97 of our fellows were killed by establishment cock-ups at a football game, and the establishment tried to hide it by accusing us of robbing our mates' dead bodies and pissing on them? I personally don't understand people who can't see it this way, because Liverpool fans don't have to imagine it. It actually happened to them.
  19. Ever met an obedient Scot? 🤣
  20. As someone mainly Scottish (albeit born and bred in Darren), I have no love for the anthem in its current guise. It has verses celebrating the slaughter of my ancestors. Booing our own anthem is fairly tame, although I do wonder if it would be prosecuted if done after this new Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Bill.
  21. I'm sure I read at the time there was no sell-on fee, which was why the deal was structured the way it was, and for so much money.
  22. I think everything a manager does except coaching and matchday stuff.
