  1. My others: JDT, A. Wharton, Finneran, and Phillips - collectively ’what could’ve been?’ JDT specifically for being the man to publicly ‘out’ Suhail. It feels like a significant turning point against these owners. Also every group that has done something individually or collectively to try and make this shitty situation with this shitty ownership better. On that note (semi-serious): Glen Mullan - the main man to put his head above the parapet in the face of these absolute bastards AND the reason we bought my favourite player of this era: Jordan Rhodes.
  2. He died just before Venkys took over, think he must’ve known.
  3. The problem is that it isn’t particularly awful weather. It’s just typical winter up north weather.
  4. Actually, opinions do need justifying. That’s how you gain or lose credibility.
  5. You clearly can’t, if your memory is making you disagree with a fact.
  6. If only we had the gumption of a club of the status of, say, Rochdale. More determined to sort out the problem immediately rather than risk it killing more winter games. We as a MINIMUM should be reimbursing all away fans tickets and travel, AND making plans to sort it out immediately and groundsharing in the meantime, even if that means with Blackpool.
  7. A lobotomy requires there to be something present prior to removal.
  8. A great way to stop undercutting STHs is to not charge THEM quite so fucking much either. Then maybe we’d get more on the ground. Should be £300 anywhere in the ground, with ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ for per-game pricing.
  9. My ‘other’ was Robbie Savage. Much as he was a complete dick, I loved how much he wound up the opposition. I also credit his legwork with extending Tugay’s playing days by an extra couple of years.
  10. Nevermind bottling it, we’re a club with a history of pushing the big boys around when they come into our yard. We’re 20 years removed from doing the double over Manchester fucking United. Now we cower at the likes of Birmingham and Swansea when they come here.
  11. Notable from that commentary that both Shearer and Sutton had 16 goals each by this point. A truly barnstorming start to the winning season for both of them.
  12. Souness often says Dunn could’ve been a 50-Cap England player if he’d focused on staying fit and getting his ‘engine’ right. I once had the chance to ask him if he had anyone in mind when he said that, and he said ‘Give David an engine like Steven (Reid) and you have a player that makes Gerrard look over his shoulder for his England spot. But that player doesn’t stay at Blackburn.’
  13. I think you’ve cracked the dilemma there.
  14. I think in the modern system, I would argue Scholes gets in alongside Carrick in midfield, with Gerrard roaming behind the lone striker. That is despite my own belief that Lampard is better than all three 🙃🤯
  15. Perhaps a Carrick then?
  16. Thinking about England squads of old, are we thinking Anderson is the Gerrard to Wharton’s Scholes?
  17. I remember a tidy game away at Peterborough, might’ve been that? Won 4-1 under Berg, thanks to Rhodes hat trick and Formica.
  18. Summed up perfectly. He will get picked more when he’s picked up by a bigger club. Even a pragmatic manager like Tuchel will fall for that simply because Wharton will be more visible. Being the best at a small club isn’t as good as being in the middle at a big club.
  19. Simultaneously able to tackle AND difficult to lay a glove on.
  20. Genuinely really pleased for those who got enjoyment out of it.
  21. Could (and should) have got enough interest across the squads from Dalglish, Souness, Hughes times as manager at the very least. Could’ve tried to add the likes of Warnock or Gray, Friedel, Samba (works for us, doesn’t he?), Savage for a laugh, McCarthy is working locally, and suddenly you have a much better high profile team.
  22. A bit disappointed Salgado didn’t speak up. He hates Venkys, loves the club, and has profile as one of the all time greats of his position.
  23. I don’t think it’s as bad as people (the hardcore) make out, although I think it’s pretty clear they have made the game more easily adaptable for those who play on console. Definitely seems easier to do transfers though. Lots of people reporting unbelievably good transfers in early seasons. Mate of mine signed Neymar on a free in Season 2 for newly promoted Coventry.
