  1. How is suggesting certain comments and reactions impacted a player; ”blaming the fans” Also, your experience ain’t fact RF.
  2. I remember people behind you and me shouting the odds at him, first season, after a substitute appearance. Audible gasps, “7 million?” Also, players do read that stuff - especially the younger players, so it would take more than just “TM never said it” for me to believe that the comments here, on Twitter, on FB, didn’t have some impact. Each to their own assertion.
  3. We’ve already taken the chance, 5 million of them. I don’t think we could argue that letting him go for nothing is a good idea. As for BB - those who said he was “hopeless” contributed to his lack of confidence, in my opinion of course. To expect a 19 year old to light up the team, in a new position, with fleeting appearances - was a ridiculous expectation. Confidence doesn’t change a players technical ability, but it will impact decision making. Fill Gally with confidence by playing him in a more a suitable role… throw in some luck with injuries and a few goals…. Could easily be as much as an asset as Ben is now, and as Armstrong before.
  4. This reminds me of a discussion I had with a famous BRFCSer who’s seemingly given up… Referring to the Charlton game as TM “giving away a trophy”… Whilst I disagree, it’s a fair comment - perhaps I see it as a bigger achievement because of “what could’ve happened” if this club had stayed at that level for another 3 seasons….!
  5. Not sure I agree with that, and if you ask a lot of the posters here (go see the BB thread 12 months ago) you’ll see words to the effect of “can’t trap a bag of sand”, “is he even a footballer?” “Have we signed a dud…” We haven’t got anywhere near the value for him yet, I think we’d agree on that - but perhaps a more confident Gallagher, with a run of games without injury; might be more of an asset.
  6. People said the exact thing about a guy who just scored 20 goals in 23 appearances. They also said the same thing before he’d had a consistent run of games. They also said the same when he was playing out of position. Perhaps it’s better to be open minded about what SG can achieve if he’s given a fair crack, in his best position, in hope that he won’t be picking up any more niggling injuries.
  7. The Oldham game was one of the worst away games I’ve ever experienced, October of that season - particularly bad memories of Bennett rounding the keeper and missing an open net and Byrne (for them) having an absolute cracker. I probably would’ve taken a new manager at that point, however I was concerned about the overhaul of the squad, and giving the manager at least a few months (this was in October) to gel them together. After this, we didn’t lose a game till February and comfortably finished the season in the automatic spots. Each to their own, but to me, the idea that this is “limping to automatic promotion” is about as ridiculous as it gets. It’s a contradiction, an oxymoron. In hindsight to suggest anyone else would’ve achieved it? Again, completely goes in the face of reality. Go watch Sheffield Wednesday with their big budget in league one, watch “Sunderland till I die”… there are so many examples of this being far more difficult than we made it look. As for this season - whilst I agree on your scale, I’d say the culmination of his “journey” has brought a better opportunity for anyone who picks up the reigns next. Compared to the Blackburn Rovers TM inherited, this version is complete overhaul.
  8. Each to their own, for me, life is too short to stop doing things you love, and even though I agree that covid passes are pointless (you can simply report any result without even taking a test), it seems another way of excluding yourself from anything you’ve previously enjoyed.
  9. HNY Tommy! Been a top signing
  10. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19763769.blackburn-rovers-transfer-news-ben-brereton-option-confirmed/ “but Mowbray confirmed Rovers do have a year option in Brereton’s deal to ensure he’s under contract until 2023.” Find the facts before assuming the worst!
  11. Tony even mentioned a foreign team, 100k a week and his Mrs wanting to live abroad. He said he wouldn’t stand in his way if this happened, if we’re getting 30m.
  12. Since it’s been reported widely that he’s got 18 months including an extension, I’d probably start by basing my “guess” on that.
  13. As for as guesses go, isn’t that just the worst possible scenario?
  14. Moved Diaz over to the left, Gally on the right. I think we scored about 2 minutes later.
  15. I ask myself that question sometimes SR…!
  16. There is too much writing off of players on BRFCS for my liking. When it is done in such sweeping singular statements, without even any rationale - I’ll gladly point it out as a poor take. I take your point on soutar, and you even developed it with a suggestion of a way for Carter to improve, rather than simply writing him off and calling a potential signing a “crock”. It’s the most popular unofficial “supporters” forum and website, yet you’d be hard driven to find any support for individuals at times. Not forgetting, a Blackburn Rovers website. Not a “nobbers” one, let them wax lyrical about their own players. I’m sure if I spent my afternoons bigging up our graduates and slagging off Burnley’s, on their website - I would’ve been binned off months ago.
  17. Pattern; All our academy lads = shit All other academy lads he knows the name of in region = immense.
  18. I can see your point, but I’m neither advocating signing these as additions or replacements, I just would give them some time if they did play for us, like anyone. Weren’t Watford receiving parachute payments at the time? Would help massively for investing in the squad in January if we had an extra 30m in sponsorship money, but alas we do not.
  19. You’re example of why I should listen was completely wrong I don’t get upset, I just don’t get it. My opinion, also on a message board; Give people a chance.
  20. I will never stop being amazed by how anyone could fully judge a player who’s 22, and played a handful of games. Its always critical too, it’s hardly ever “he is going to be special”, that seemingly saved for anyone at Euxton…!
  21. Playing silly sods is saying Dolan is nothing more than a “nice lad” and doubling down on the anti-Buckley stuff, in my opinion of course.
  22. I don’t understand how you can’t get wages and the discrepancy between what we can spend and other teams. It seems beyond reality that you’d suggest two or three players guaranteed to be on so much more, and one who’s record in the championship is 1 in 17 and a relegation. Show stoppers indeed.
  23. How do you know they aren’t premier league quality and how do you know other teams aren’t after them? Why are certain markets only suitable for premier league teams? How do we compete with 20+ teams ready to pay bigger wages and probably 15+ teams if we get promoted?
  24. How do we know they’re not good enough? Ullrich suggested the Scottish premier league is equivalent the our league one. Where did we get Dack and Rothwell from?
  25. The money is for promotion, at which point the club earns 180m+ even with relegation after one season. If you offered a similar amount now and stayed in the division, there’s potential of being hit with point dedications and transfer bans. I’d obviously rather keep all those lads but I think the best way is promotion
