  1. In danger of going off thread here but I believe it’s easier to sell season tickets to supporters when you’re in the second tier, if you haven’t been in the top one since 1961. Our club is built for top tier income - the majority of the people we all know who’ve given up, went when the club played Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal at home every season. Not looking up at the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth.
  2. As discussed in the ST thread - the only bill in my household that hasn’t risen this season is my season ticket. Im no accountant, I know both those clubs have nowhere near the infrastructure costs we do, and I (in terms of sales) know it would’ve been a different story had we finished the season better. 47ers point was “we’re badly run” and “Cheaper tickets” is something I bet most people at every club would agree on, but would it solve these transfer and contract woes? Someone suggested we get someone for 50k a year instead of Waggott (250k a year) and put it to the wage bill. I’m sure that 2k per week after tax would be the difference between 8th and 6th…!
  3. The response is in the parts of the post you didn’t include to reply. Everyone has their own circumstances, the competition for players with the necessary ability to challenge is fierce and we’re miles behind other clubs with wages. Rather than simply grumble, what suggestions do you have to enable the club to work better? Sweeping “Get rid of wag/Venkys/Mowbray” not enough, how does a club of our current position maximise turnover, avoid ffp sanction and ensure success on the pitch and in recruitment?
  4. Absolutely, fans should question everything. They should also be reasonable, not just lump issues all into one to point the finger. You mention 4 at once for example, but those players have their own circumstances. 1. Rothwell has gone to the premier league and if you believe Waggott we could’ve been remunerated for that - frustrated but understand. 2. Lenihan - 28 year old, wants a big signing on fee and contract as it’ll be the best he’ll ever be on. Wilder has wanted him for 5 years too, I’m sure that played a part. 3. Nyambe - seemingly wanted to move, why would he take a “step back” to Wigan? Or was he lied too. Either way he’s been replaced out of these three. 4. Phillips is leaving? Just a rumour here at moment (suspiciously timed after the thread title change for Magliore hmmm) Let’s suggest it is Tottenham - someone listed the clubs respective turnover / value compared to ours and it was over 20x bigger… Simple economics would suggest he’d earn a lot more and be set up for life, even if he never plays a senior game for them. As @unsall rightly and regularly points out, for all the finger pointing at individuals, owners and the club in general, doesn’t take into account three incredibly difficult hurdles. 1. The vast gap between wages bottom half premier league and top half championship - and the not so vast gap in ability levels. 2. FFP - a literal limit / rule on spending to turnover. We spent time in embargo last summer once more, and for all certain posters saying it is an excuse, league 1 has been littered with clubs for 10+ years (including us) who’ve ended up having to “cut their cloth” to 36 year centre-backs like Curtis Davies or Wes Brown. 3. Parachute Payments - the advantage that gives teams over four years makes it fairly impossible for anyone to break that promotion cycle. That’s not to say all teams with them succeed, as they're often a fast way into FFP issues when you fail getting back up after throwing the money at it - look at the signings / issue’s Huddersfield are having after finishing third / losing playoff final last year - I think they’re in the last year of their PP https://www.90min.com/posts/how-effective-are-the-premier-league-parachute-payments/amp In conclusion - There’s much more to be done at Ewood in regards to improving results, contract negotiations, turnover, fan dialogue, community liaison etc - but it’s not as if we’re the only club in the 92 trying. Competition is fierce - hence why we’re so addicted to it. Can’t wait to see Burnley get torn apart on tv later.
  5. It felt this grim last year, registration embargo and top scorer most likely leaving. Season before it was “shit or bust” You know as well as I do, that results matter more than any of this, however I don’t know where “transition” suggests mediocracy. Also, we haven’t lost most. Some perhaps, but not most. Semantics mean a lot - also for the same token, those players we lost take some responsibility for our poor form since Christmas. As mentioned repeatedly- the last time we’d signed 4+ players before kick off was under Coyle. Lets see how we get on Saturday before bringing the “deliberate negligence” back into debate…
  6. Not just aimed at just you DMTP, but the part in bold shows you understand our situation aka ambition > finance, you understand the fierceness of competition between championship teams for players, and the plethora of options on bigger wages, who are waiting to see whether they get game time or if they’ll be down the pecking order at their club… Not naming names, but why is it that posters who get this, are less panicky? Less demanding, for explanations or for people to “fess up”? I think everyone here wants us to have the cliched “two decent players for every position” ready for Saturday, but I don’t think everyone understands the difficulty in attaining such.
  7. You’ve using a friendly writing off players. That’s when I stop taking you seriously.
  8. “Carter is a donkey” added to list of anti Buckley and Dolan “tosh”.
  9. This folks is what I call ignoring history to make something sound worse than it is; If you’re thinking of precedents - aka strikers in their last year, no prem experience and only one season for scoring 20+ goals… Is Lenihan and Rothwell the example you’d come to? Or perhaps a diminutive Geordie who ended up on the south coast at the end of the window for 16-20m?
  10. Fess up? You’re supposed to have some level of knowledge of football and you’d want / expect a new member of staff to come out and tell us exactly why / what issues or what exact plans are? Every day to satisfy a message board? Over trumped? Like Buckley and Dolan do you mean? Remember what the former did to your boy Whiteman? Half the u23s… you mean Carter might start Saturday (aka someone who has “big strong man” experience) and we might have Markanday / Vale involved from the bench? You’re always looking for an argument. How else do you explain your half baked, half arsed and mostly wrong assertions?
  11. It’s called fishing for an argument K-Mod. It’s a daily occurrence. ”Hmm… how do I cause a stir this morning!”
  12. Yea, would be unprofessional and a stupid thing to do.
  13. Can you throw in “apologist” and also “will defend anything the club does”, cheers lads!
  14. Please put me out of my misery and delete my account 😂
  15. Nowhere near as “eye-gougingly” cringy as seeing signings written off as “relegation men”… especially about 10 posts after a full forum warning about baiting.
  16. Absolutely agree 100% on this part. Exciting in itself.
  17. No TP, it’s the clubs scouting department / recruitment. Its going to take a lot longer than a month, or even a year for JDT to implement his own views on the recruitment system for rovers. Suggesting this is a forced restriction? Sounds stupid to me at least.
  18. The club purposely plants rumours to satisfy fans? Give me a break. We both know (and I will use one of JHRs less tin foiled quotes) “actions speak louder than words” so links to million + players in papers means nothing to anybody.
  19. Can we stop with the stupid conspiracy theories like this please. I don’t think we need many signings but now hoping we make some just to save me reading this every single day.
  20. @K-Hod am I allowed to do a public facepalm at this post?
  21. @K-Hod - RE the part in bold, is that not exactly what you told me isn’t coming to a conclusion?
  22. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/20277479.blackburn-rovers-coming-behind-transfer-search/ Why look for quotes from Broughton when JDT has explained to an extent. How long till Greg gets a BRFCS nickname anyway? BroughtNowt?
