  1. Wilcox and Sherwood were there - wilcox was injured, not to sure about Sherwood though 317014[/snapback] Sherwood also is injured. Wilcox is playing again but Leicester wouldn't let him play this game (which is why I suspect Pearcy wasn't there). Best moment was Dunny sitting in the current team dugout- where he should be. Second best moment was the entire evening in the suite. The meal was good, but the company fantastic. Of the current team, only Gally, Enks, Shorty and Matt Derbyshire came up after the game- but all the "old-timers" did. At the end of the night- the three friends (Shearer, Newall and Flowers) were holding court for the 12 or 13 remaining guests at their table. We left just after midnight and there was a whole crowd of people waiting for autographs. Those boys didn't look like they were leaving anytime soon. Shearer was much more pleasant than the last time I met him- all smiles and being really friendly. However quite a number of people did notice that he was puffing quite early into the match- maybe his training regime has gone downhill recently??? Apparently the "we've bought them so they must be good enough and not need training except for 5 a side" attitude is quite common at clubs. When Davie Moyes first got Beattie, he has to make him train separately from the rest of the team for 2 weeks as he simply wasn't fit. Then he got injured and set back further. HIS preseason will be interesting!!! At Garner's testimonial I remarked that Rippers was better than anything we currently had on the right. I still stand by that opinion. Neither the demented kangaroo or the mini-scouser have half his talent and skill even now. With a bit of training he'd blow them out of the team. Remembering his age that's very worrying. Heck, even Super-atko looks better than the midfield that was out at Spurs! Was a brilliant night- lots of people getting over-emotional and just having fun.
  2. Just back from the match- my nearest ground- 6 miles away. That wasn't bad. McEveley didn't seem out of place. Jemal looked better than Defoe did considering they were both on at the same time. The defence looked TONS better with Toddy- who damn nearly scored!! Their players looked like they were in the relegation fight, not the European one- which is down to us I think. But oh, WHAT does Mr Hughes see in Thommo. He clearly hasn't succeeded in putting his injury out of focus so far. By that I mean that whenever there's a situation where bravery is called for, he pulls out. Unfortunately in centre midfield, bravery is quite often called for and he's found lacking. We really missed Flitty and Reid today. With either of them this would have been a comfortable win.
  3. Contemptible. The club should keep a record of who attends games such as this and the next time there's limited availability for ANY game, people who have made statements such as this (and haven't attended) shouldn't be allowed one. As Gav says, I fear for the future of the club. The average supporter has been spoilt, and like any spoilt brat demands more until it can't be satisfied. Then it just checks out and sulks. That's what a load of our supporters have done. They whine on about not being able to afford the ticket then spend more than that in the evening in the pub, discussing how great a supporter of "our" club they are, and what's gone wrong. Well, what's gone wrong is that the club has declining revenue because of our "great" support deserting in droves and can't afford to purchase the players the "supporters" demand. That in turn leads to a downward spiral and support of Burnley-like proportions in the Premiership!!! I don't know what the remedy is, but unlike others I DO want to berate others.
  4. Absolutely sickening response from the so-called "fans" again. I've taken 2 days off, paid the hospitality price and booked a hotel to be there. And a lot of you can't be bothered walking down the road. PATHETIC. And I'm the one who most of you say isn't a "real" supporter
  5. I too think the TP 11- mostly retired or not, will still tonk our lot. Every time I think about it I get all over-emotional!.
  6. So we're missing Le Saux and Berg (and Batty)
  7. I think we cut out the explanation before to the majority (Ryan Nelsen we take into another room and explain separately) and teach them, using something like: Passing to someone in same jumper as ours- good Passing to someone in different jumper- bad
  8. It doesn't antagonise the current opposition, though- does it??
  9. So you're saying that you didn't wind up Robbie Blake today? That he didn't hear and respond? Not even a blind, deaf, drunk person could have failed to notice that he was clearly saying "fu*k you" in gesture if not in word at our fans for what they'd just been singing when he scored. (and I'm one of the many that don't care a toss if he's played for Burnley. He's a Birmingham player now and they're who we were playing - although I'd have forgiven a neutral for being confused as a number of our fans seemed to be singing about Burnley quite a bit) However I do think 9th was probably unrealistic, and let's face it, anything better than 18th is a bonus given the start of our season. would just have been nice to have been able to afford that one extra player, that's all.........
  10. A win today would have given the potential to come 9th. That's £1.5m more. Now the best we can do is 11th. I know you don't care about your club's finances and therefore its future, but I do. Also, fair enough go and support your club- that means just that- not antagonising the opposition or their fans. (Do you even understand the difference?)
  11. We lost £500k today, and the potential for £1m more. That's a player. Still funny, huh? Ps American No- bloody awful. But as soon as I heart Sutty Bellamy and Didi were out I said to my friend Celtic'd lose. As I expect Celtic to next weekend when I'm there. I expect this season to go to the wire. Always have. Liam You were in the minority.
  12. Well. Maybe that'll teach our very stupid fans NOT to bait the opposition. No sooner had they given absolute S*IT to Robbie Blake (because he once played for Burnley for god's sake- who cares?) than he scored. The look on his face as he walked slowly past our fans to celebrate said it all. Then just to make doubly sure- the same morons started singing "If Heskey plays for England so can I". Guess what happens again. Rules for fans: 1. Don't bait the opposition with "easy, easy" at 1-0. We'll live to regret it. 2. Don't bait individual opposition players- they won't like it and we'll live to regret it. 3. Don't gloat that WE'VE got a player (who's not even in the stadium) who used to play for them. Especially when the wound is raw. That stirs them to shout their team on (or in the case of 1 moron- to try to jump over to try to attack us!!!) We'll live to regret it. So until we're 3-0 up and there's only 5 minutes to go, be respectful and cheer our team on. THEN give them sh*t. I don't think we played any worse today then we've played before. I don't think the substitutions were any worse. I just think it was a game too far. LOVED the Souness song though. Apt, appropriate, witty.
  13. Not sure if anyone actually realises the enormity of this: Newcastle drew, at HOME, against Middlesborough and it was considered a GOOD result. Just take a few minutes to actually THINK of that How HAVE the mighty fallen!!!
  14. I smell spin here He's been absolutely fine at Celtic. But then he's playing for a decent manager (in all senses of the word), with good players and in front of more fans every week than at Newcastle (and fans who worship HIM as opposed to not being able to see past Shearer.) The geordies have let the inmates run the asylum well and truly. which makes me very hapy, as I didn't like them before anyway.
  15. With the seniors, 12 points is still a possibility. With the juniors I'd go for nil points. We can't afford to drop 2 million (or more) on a whim. Let the youngsters get experience on loan next season. Keep the first team concentrated on the goal in hand- maximum points and maximum places up the table.
  16. I'm watching the replay of the game at the moment. I know Feruson is playing, because every time a Rangers player is booked he's there mouthing off (in the vernacular...Nebby wee get). Apart from that I think I've seen him once or twice- usually accompanied by the words "and Ferguson gives the ball away".
  17. Is that accurate- or should we include the word wife somewhere? Anyway- it's totally mutual. Sutty isn't even polite about Shearer if you speak to him.
  18. Difference is- I'm not a glory-hunter.
  19. Sounds like someone is ripe to become an Arsenal, Manure or Chelski fan, methinks!!
  20. Lets see- plays in games where he will get into Europe (twice over- actually- Champions League) or plays where the person he hates most in the footballing world will be??? Let me see- BIG choice. Would be funny if he did come and brought Mr Bellamy with him. I'm sure that would be a confrontation to behold!!!
  21. I have to suspect that Sutty won't be there as there's the little matter of an SPL title and a Scottish cup still going on then!
  22. Billy Dodds on Setanta has just said that without Bellamy, Rangers would have won the SPL. Since Bellamy is there only because he fell out with Souness, does that mean that Souness indirectly has given Celtic the SPL? Poetic justice, I feel.
  23. NOW we can say it!!! Thank GOD for that!!! Happy, HAPPY me. One team safe and the other team almost certainly champions all in one day! And Mr Bellamy looked SO happy! Wish I'd paid the £260 now!!!
  24. SEE- I told you!!!
  25. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH It's not over yet. PLEASE stop saying these things PLEASE
