  1. Hyperventilating now A crowd of hill-trolls AND Amauselessb*sta*rd? Panic over- I've been reminded that Short is fit! And that Mokoena or Nelsen would certainly be preferred.
  2. And even WITHOUT a left back there, would Emerton really get to the bye-line???? Anyway, I'm coming up to watch this little game tomorrow night. Being a "new" supporter, I am really just interested in watching a little team against us. I don't feel the rivalry at all- they truly aren't in our league (in any way) A bit worried about the car getting damaged though!
  3. I do love the drivel some people come out with. For once I'm with American. Football is about (and is ONLY about) who gets the round thing in the big rectangular netty thing most. No points for artistic impression, or technical merit, just for getting the ball in the goal. The fact that they were their only chances is irrelevant. They took them, therefore inherently they were the better team. If you want points for artistic impression, watch ice skating, diving or ski-jumping. I like Mourinho too- he wears nice coats and is quite pretty.
  4. Sherwood publicly got the hump because he wanted to go to Spurs and Hodgson wouldn't let him. I know Hodgson wasn't fond of Sherwood
  5. That's because Hodgson and Kidd, whatever they DID do, didn't hang around long enough to become truly hated (Jack was sensitive to the fan's feelings and had the money to get rid- this board weren't and didn't). They also didn't drive our better players out. (Then, our better players wanted to go because they could get better jobs elsewhere NOT because they hated the manager)
  6. Souness (for his time at Rovers as a manager) B Ferguson ( pathetic whinger) A Ferguson F Ricksen (deserved what he got and more) Souness (for his time at Liverpool as a player)
  7. I'm glad that nearly all of the Championship-winning side got a mention somewhere. They are, after all the only people who have brought us REAL honours in living memory so deserve it more than anyone else. (Agreed with Ronnie Clauton adn Bryan Douglas though) All for a worst team ever. Darren Peacock surely must be a top contender
  8. The latter Transfer budget = approximately £0. Apparently JW has promised the Ferguson money to spend, but can't see it myself given the debt situation
  9. Everything is included- the cost of Ewood is in "land and buildings" all income it generates is in these numbers
  10. OK So how do I fit in? Born Protestant whose family (not immediate- grandfathers and uncles- daddy had too much sense) were all masons and members of the Orange Lodge. Father doesn't like football, and if he supported anyone it would be Kilmarnock (well, someone has to) How did I come to be a Celtic supporter??? And I can assure you that when I take my seat on Sunday (flight was booked before we drew Bumley)- religion will be EXTREMELY far from my thoughts.
  11. I'm afraid Streaky's right You won't find people of that calibre for less than they're on- Tom Finn's salary in particular is quite poor for his responsibilities. I know many will be horrified by that, but it's just a fact. Partners in my firm START on £250k and the AVERAGE remuneration is £400k, and we're not the highest paid.
  12. Hmn Thanks Philip My first comment is that the capitalisation of the £14m loan is purely cosmetic. It's interest-free (the accounts say that) so doesn't cost us anything wherever it sits on the balance sheet. In fact- if it becomes share capital, it will presumably rank for dividends, so if we ever pay one (unlikely) it will have to be paid on these shares as well. The reality of the situation is that last year our "real debts"- excluding the £14million, were £12.1m. At the end of the year for these accounts, they were £15.8m- and they'd been converted from a loan to an overdraft (anyone who's ever paid overdraft charges knows they're usually higher than loan rates.) If you look at what we OWE in the short term (£31.7m) and what we're owed (£16.4m INCLUDING £12m for players- now are we subsidising Chelsea winning the league or what?) you can see that this £15.3m is basically the same. On the amortisation front- this doesn't equate in any way to cash so saying that's out transfer budget isn't right. I'd accept Mr William's word that "Trading, Bosman free transfers and the successful graduation of Academy players are seen as the key elements of our ongoing squad development". Sorry if this is a bit too accountant-speaky!
  13. Celtic Scotland Anyone England's playing Cardiff Ayr United
  14. KSB Don't get me started on that again. We gave away Henning Berg for the sake of the manager's pride and paid cash money for the useless Italian tub of Lard. Still makes my blood boil.
  15. Thank **** he's out of favour. I was really scared that Hughesy would have some sort of brain-explosion and play the useless lump of lard. Thank god HE'S not as stupid as his predecessor. The least pleasant experience of Saturday was seeing the useless lump warming down with the rest of the members of the squad not in the 16. Till that moment I'd actually managed to put his existence out of my head. Now I'm going to feel free to say what I've thought for a while. Andy Todd (or anyone else in the squad- I'm not fussy- please crock the useless ****** until June. Then, if we haven't sold him by the end of the transfer window, crock him again until January. Repeat ad nauseam until he's out of contract. God I'll be glad to see the back of him. PS- can you tell I don't like him as a player PPS- I'd LOVE him to go back to Rangers. Make Celtic's job even easier (As the return of the small, useless one has). PPS- Nice bloke- apparently
  16. Savage took the corners from the left (in-swingers generally), MGP from the right (both as you look at the goal from the centre of the pitch) Tugay still passed to his imaginary friend (usually wearing Yellow and Green) more than he managed to pass to a Rovers player. Mokoena was getting whacked by Ashton all sides up- although not a great player he is a BIG bloke (Ashton). Nelsen is great. Todd is god- he nearly scored with a fantastic shot! Hopefully Matteo was dropped, but I'm afraid I think he's injured (or suspended). Savage is also fantastic- what we now have is leaders in both the back line and midfield (actually on today's showing at least 2 in the back line!) I was in hospitality today, when something interesting happened. The SQUAD (ie everyone who can currently walk) came out to warm down after the match- in two groups- ones who played and ones who were either on the bench or just in the squad. It was strange. we had the team who'd just played warming down, while the likes of Short, Flitcroft, Jansen, Douglas etc effectively warmed up! Also- unfortunately- Amauselessb*stard was in that group which I guess means he's back to fitness. (By the way- Matteo wasn't there- hence my injury assumptiom)
  17. Glad to see Sutton catching Jansen up. with my vote they'd be even now!!!
  18. NO WAY would he be number 2 in the last 10 years. Sutton it was who helped us win the Championship. Jansen was merely a ballerina who has one good season. I'd argue Andy Cole was better than Jansen too. People on here are thinking of "might have beens" not what was/is.
  19. As the right to vote for Sutton was taken away- WHY? I've had to vote for Garner.
  20. Would have liked to go, but Celtic v Rangers is on at 12.30 and I've already paid for my flight!! Although maybe it would be a bit frightening!!
  21. I think the priority tonight was not to lose by any more than we absolutely had to. While we're in that position yet, goal difference may be important, and I'd rather lose 1-0 than try to win and lose 2 or 3 nil. That said I have no idea where a goal's coming from either!!
  22. Maybe if we held up their team bus so they were late, they'd be fined and we'd be given three points?? Isn't that happening to Swindon or someone??
  23. I used to hate Rangers. I still do. But will accept any new recruits to the green and white cause happily I just keep thinking that they got a Premiership failure, Celtic got a Premiership success. I'm angry not that Baby Ferguson has gone, but that we bought him in the first place, when I was always sure this was going to happen.
  24. As I said before- glad he's gone. He was never class- he only managed to shine in a Rangers side that won the treble in SCOTLAND while the best team in Scotland were getting to a EUROPEAN final. Without that distraction, Rangers would have been as tubbed as they have been every other season since O'Neill took over. I was against signing him, think we've had no value for the signing and have been lucky to get the money we did. And Radaghast- if you SERIOUSLY think that the great Bazza will make that much difference, you're seriously deluded. Rangers got a Premiership failure, Celtic a Premiership success.
