  1. Ooh where to start!!! Cheap shot first- the boy obviously can't afford a computer with capital letters, doesn't understand punctuation and is a little hazy on the finer points of grammar. Second point. I've been to most of the recent derbies and managed to avoid being involved, or in fact seeing any clashes! Maybe they go on, but it's a case of "seek and ye shall find"- so I don't. As for religion, most of my Celtic-supporting friends are atheists (ie born Prod- escaped) so while it may be an issue for some, it really isn't for many nowadays. As to what Johnny_ireland said, hear hear (apart from not giving a toss about either of the Old Firm- which I obviously do!)
  2. After the first few games this season, I wouldn't. I really thought the bhoys would struggle. I should have had more faith. Strachan has rally got the SCOTTISH youngsters (Beattie, McManus and Maloney amongst others) playing well. (I emphasisied Scottish because so many times I read about the team not containing any Scots. There are a fair few- plus a couple of "Irish" boys- McGeady springs to mind- coming through from the ranks now.) There are certainly more slips to come, but this hasn't been a bad week so far.
  3. At last someone talking sense. He's not good enough for this team. He might have been if he'd continued the form of the last half season with Cole distracting everyone else. He always had fantastic skills, but like the chinese guy who can do all sorts of footie tricks (can't remember his name) they weren't suitable for team football. Until that half season, when fortunately the much better player (Cole) took precedence, most of us on here were extremely frustrated by "bambi" as he was known's selfishness and lack of team ethos. He has become a legend because he was hurt (his own fault) just after that period. If he'd been hurt the year before, no-one would have cared, and certainly the moaning and tearing of garments that''s going on here would not have happened.
  4. When Toddy came off the pitch, unlike Gray he didn't head off with the doctor for immediate treatment, just got a bench coat on and watched the rest of the game. Maybe that means it's not too serious (Please god). On the slightly worrying side, I've been trying to think of defenders we've got who could come in to replace our broken ones. One truly awful thought hit me, which I shared with those around me- so if you heard a huge groan from the Jack Walker just about 10 minutes from the end it was us. Oh the thought? Amoruso. (Please someone tell me he's injured)
  5. He had skills in abundance, However, for all bar a very short sliver of the period he was at Rovers (the time when Andy Cole was getting all the attention leaving Matty free to profit from less marking and Cole's flick-ons) he used those skills in much the same way Brett Emerton does now (running into the opposition and losing the ball), except with a touch of the Paul Dickov falling overs- thrown in. There were more times that he looked like Bambi on ice than a world-beater.
  6. Shaddy Well said and totally accurate. Of course you can't praise Cole above Jansen- the non-pc brigade won't allow it!
  7. I think so. Celtic aren't playing the stunning stuff I've seen in the past, but it's still been enough to wallop most other teams. When Hearts have won it's usually been by one goal or so, which is why Celtic have gone top. Rangers seem to have lost the plot. I'd watch out for Hibs, who are quietly and steadily plugging away in third at the moment. Perhaps it's not all roses having a Russian Billionaire in charge!! Oh and about Fergie, the thenodrog got it 100% right.
  8. Absolutely the way I'm feeling. EDIT Said it all before- blame the jetlag
  9. Unfortunately I had to sit near the moronic element who started the chant. I hope they're proud of themselves- they cost us at least a point today, but then I've been saying a similar thing all season. If you want to gloat, wait till the game's won. Taunt players from the opposing team at 3-0 (although not with such a sickening chant as that one) if you must, but button it until then. Oh and Cisse's reaction- the goal and after- was 100% justified. It was obvious to those of us with some taste and decency that the "young team" at the back had left their collective brain cell at home. I've never enjoyed a game less, nor felt that we deserved to lose more. (Not the team- they deserved more- but the pathetic but vocal minority of fans deserved less than nothing)
  10. I can take the king's shilling, just like anyone else!
  11. My teams are Scotland Anyone playing England (at least I'm honest) Republic of Ireland France Italy
  12. Thought you lot were too thick to understand the point. Or perhaps having groups of male supporters follow and verbally abuse lone female supporters from the opposing team seems big to you.
  13. Of course I don't want england to win. In fact I had a fabulous time at England v France at Euro 2004. Wearing a French shirt (family is French a long way back), I was verbally abused by the ignorant little shi*s that pass for English supporters as I walked to the game (bearing in mind this was because they thought I was French and couldn't speak English because I hadn't spoken a word at this point). Imagine the look on the twallys faces when on going through the gate I let out a long string of invective exlaining exactly what I thought of them. Why wouldn't I want the English to win after that? Let me count the ways.........................
  14. According to that honest, upright pair of citizens Mr Sourpuss and Fat Freddie. God, when will you people learn that anything that comes from Sourpuss' mouth which puts him in a good light and someone else in a bad one is almost certainly a lie? In fact didn't Bellamy specifically go on television to deny that? Which caused him to go first to Celtic and then to us?
  15. Red faced w*nker- or so I was led to believe
  16. Sorry, today reminded me of the game against Sunderland at home a couple of seasons ago. They didn't get any points from anyone else all season apart from us (well nearly) and were quite the worst team I've ever seen in the Premiership.
  17. I think you're supposing that any player at Newk actually cares about keeping Sourpuss and the Backroom Bozos enough to fight for them. Don't know they don't, but not sure they do either.
  18. But it's not Scotland if we don't think we're going to do it then lose to the Faroes (or similar) You know you'd miss it!
  19. I don't think you can afford to (financially) can you???
  20. Didn't see your game. Couldn't watch mine. (well only through my hands). David Healy, eh??? Who'd have thought it. Combined cost of NI-= almost £0 Combined cost of England £millions. Combined worth of England £0. Combined worth of NI= priceless!!! Now all that's got to happen is that Scotland need to keep rememebring how to play footy, and someone else in the group needs to beat Norway. OK not likely but at least we're in a better shape than we were. Maybe Walter Smith isn't that bad a manager.
  21. Oh dear, quick- get the tranquiliser gun............ Robbie's inteview is also on BBC!!!
  22. And there is the extremely dirty and unpleasant pot calling the shiny new kettle black.
  23. What you're all failing to appreciate is that Tris is having a go because the guy wasn't signed by his beloved. He knows now he'd get short shrift if he started weeping over that (AGAIN) so now he's started something else. Expect glowing tributes to Michael Owen and how sensible he was to join up with such a marvellous manager any minute now.............
  24. Much the same thought occurred to me about Deano and Shearer.
  25. Sorry. That's not what I recognise as a University education. A University education comes from an institution which has been a University for more than 20 years and only gives out degrees, MLits or PHDs (or qualifications of equal standards). Anything else is a Technical college or Polytechnic- whatever this government would like to pretend. (Giving away my age and the fact that I went to an ancient University here)
