  1. Eh? He's been one of our best players in most of our matches this season!
  2. I was in Australia on holiday for this game. As I remember we hadn't been doing very well up to that point in the season. The friend I was staying with went into work in the morning, and called me to ask what I thought the score was. Well, as Forest had been doing so well, and us so badly, I said 7-0 in a fairly disgusted voice. "how did you know?" he said. My reply "you mean we REALLY lost 7-0. How bad are we?" Cue a lot of giggling and finally a "no, you WON 7-0". Cue bonkers celebration and a sore ear for him!!!
  3. 18,000*28 =£504,000 30,000*12=£360,000 I know which one I'd rather have.
  4. No he didn't. He just ran around and looked bereft of anything resembling an idea of how to play football. The falling on his bum for no reason was actually a high point, because at least it gave us a laugh. The rest was just sad.
  5. The reason Gray was "awful" (actually he wasn't) was the waster in front of him. Emerton is a complete waste of space and effort. We'd have been FAR better with Peter on the park. Emerton made two good runs and one good cross all game- otherwise he just got in people's way. There was one especially memorable moment when Gray had the ball, Emerton ran in front of him and instead of running into the HUGE space on the wing, he ran to the relative safety of just in between two Spurs players (either of whom would have got the ball before him) and vainly stuck his arm up. Not surprisingly, he wasn't given the ball. There was another incident when he had run forward and put yet another weak pass to the Spurs player directly in front of him while Bellamy was screaming for the pass in space about 10 feet further back. As Emerton passed Bellamy, Bellamy said something short, and, from the hunching of Emerton's shoulders, not particularly sweet to him. In the end even Lucas wouldn't give him the ball, because there was no end product. He can't have been suffering from a lack of confidence for 4 years now. I hope he doesn't get a new contract. Awful, awful., awful. That said, the rest of the team was magnificent. I was SO proud to be a Rovers supporter today. Yes, we lost, but we played some beautiful touch football. And the better team DID, as the wonderful Sparky said, lose today.
  6. I'd guess Dunny stole his girlfriend. (Or was once a friend and maybe grew out of it).
  7. To all of the revisionists out there- read and actually remember. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...24/sfgbla25.xml Fortunately Hughes was playing with Dunn in midfield that day so actually KNOWS what he can do rather than rely on jealousy, hazy rememberances and belief in downright lies Ps- it's just made me cry
  8. Warned as to future conduct. PHEW!!!!!
  9. If they can get to a local pub for a home game they can get to the ground. That argument doesn't wash. (Does for away games or if you don't live locally)
  10. And I'll wager that the airline doesn't pay even its best pilots as well as we pay our worst players. It's economics. You can whine all you like, but running a professional football club costs money. As has been said, we already get a ridiculously low average price per ticket (£13) so reducing prices isn't the answer. Also remember that the percentage of our income that comes from ticket sales is much lower than that from other sources. We get on Sky if we're either "very good", playing someone "very good" or very bad. Bumbling along doesn't get their interest. 5th qualifies as very good, by the way!!!
  11. I especially love the last bit. Aimimng high is great. Optimism is wonderful. Sparky is God (oops- how did that creep in). It's so nice to be happy at football again.
  12. As it's whether he'll go if they're relegated and he's coming back to Ewood (please god) I voted yes.
  13. Wasn't that the day we said goodbye to Dunn and Duff? Or am I thinking of another year at WHL?
  14. So quickly? Did I miss the last 3 years of Emerton being woeful interspersed with the odd good game? Emerton has never, in my opinion, lived up to the hype that surrounded him when he was bought. If there's a blid alley to run into, that's where Bert could too often be found. His crossing was never particularly good, and I still remember his efforts at corners, which were so bad that the job was removed from him as soon as it decently could be. I always thought of him, Thommo and Reidy as much of a muchness. Sometimes adequate, mostly terrible. Reidy, however has improved by leaps and bounds over the past year, where Thommo (now gone) was injured and Bert blew cold and colder. I don't think Reid's the answer on the right wing, but I'm sure, beyond certainty that Bert isn't.
  15. You may say that. I couldn't possibly comment.
  16. Anyone who doesn't realise that Todd is (and has been for the past couple of seasons) one of our best players is one of two things: 1 Still an apologist for our ex-manager 2 Barking mad (actually anyone who falls into 1 also falls into 2)
  17. Of course he should come back. He should never have gone in the first place.
  18. It's been a good weekend. Went to Scotland v England at rugby (snigger), Rovers up to fifth, Celtic lots of points in the lead and a Scot the British number one at tennis. And wasn't it wonderful when the interviewer asked Sparky about the Champion's League with a snigger in his voice, to see Sparky seriously consider it? Isn't it nice to feel that the manager has a plan? (And a plan B (UEFA) and C (Intertoto)) I actually found myself on Saturday actually wanting Wigan to win the cup again. Up until then, I'd thought that it was better for us for Manure to win, as then the UEFA places would come further down. Now I believe that Sparky knows exactly what we're going to do, and if he's confident, so am I. (Of course now they didn't there's another UEFA place for grabs)
  19. I have no axe to grind about Tugay. When at Rangers he didn't make any inflammatory utterances and he was bumped for the obnoxious little baby Ferguson The issues I had with Amoruso were that he was rubbish and that we'd lost Berg for THAT, and the issues with Ferguson were that he was overpriced and a mammy's boy. Don't think I was wrong in either.
  20. As long as he's not on the pitch at any time that matters, I can't say I care. I think people would just inore him. He's an irrelevance- albeit an annoyingly expensive one. (thatnk god Hughes had sense).
  21. He left you, get over it And as for playing Celtic off the park. Remind me -firstly- what was the score in each game and secondly- how DO you win games?- if you want artistic impression, watch ice skating. It's completely irrelevant if we play wonderful football and lose. I'd far rather grind out 1-0 wins. The Championship winning season often wasn't pretty, but it was effective. With Sourpuss at the helm, we were sometimes pretty, but nearly always lacked the end result. I've not forgotten the moves which had 20-odd passes strung together (not forgetting that Brad had to get at least 3 touches or it wasn't an attack, but which still somehow never progressed beyond the halfway line. After Dunn and Duff, that was the reality. Even with them it was still sometimes the reality, and it bored me to tears. It also frustrated Cole to death. I have terrible memories of the look of horror on his face in his first game with us (Spurs away) when he kept putting his hand up wanting a pass, only for it to go across the midfield a couple of times before it was feebly pushed forward to the nearest defender. NO wonder he had his hands on his hips sooften, we were no-hopers compared to the bunch he'd just left. At least now people shoot, and as I've often said, if you're shooting at the opposition's goal, they're not shooting at yours. And there's always the hope that one or two will be on target and if they're saved Bellers can net the rebound.
  22. Because Celtic will show it worldwide on TV, which being Mr Shearer he'll have negotiated a rate for. Also even if the Geordies don't think it worthwhile (although I'm sure they will), Celtic will bring as many down as needed.
  23. And as has been said- to those who listened, the format has been changed this season- three rounds insted of five. I'm very in favour. European holidays with the Rovers are us! Oh god, I've agreed with Tris- the world is ending.
  24. I heard Chic Murray (Scottish sports writer) say " after his failures at his last two clubs, Rangers wouldn't want him" But then he said "he's heading to Australia anyway" Cheers- you Aussies're welcome to him!!! However- Radio 5 also said "the Rangers job is the only one going at the moment that Martin O'Neill isn't favourite to get I laughed!
